Hodari's expression of surprise turned to absolute frustration as his brother introduced himself by his common nickname. It appeared to Hodari as though Jasiri was always trying to act better than him. And with a light growl, Hodari continued to listen, waiting for the right moment to speak up again. Jasiri could be so frustrating sometimes! It was when Jasiri spoke of how he knew of the firekin that Hodari snapped. "How could you know about them? Mom never said anything and dad doesn't usually venture out towards the other prides!" Hodari loved learning about new things and to know his brother knew more caused the cub to become rather jealous.
Before he could say anything further, Savitri asked a question that would allow Hodari to rat Jasiri out. "His name is Jasiri, but he likes to call himself Moto because of his tail." Hodari said this eyeing Jasiri. He felt the urge to stick his tongue out, but forced it back because of the female cub in their company. He felt relieved when Savitri continued to speak. Everything she said was so new and it was refreshing to Hodari's ears. He was already fascinated by her, though not in quite the same way as his brother. Hodari was about to exclaim about how exciting it must have been to have royal grandparents when she frowned because of her pelt. "But what's wrong with your pelt? I think it makes you stand out!"

When Hodari started to tell her his real name, Jasiri's claws unsheathed into the ground. Hodari always made him so angry. But he was too fascinated with this white cub in front of him for it to last long. After glaring dangerously at Hodari, Jasiri turned back to Savitri and said, almost defiantly, "It's Moto. Your grandfather's the king?! That's super cool! What kind of cool things do you get to do?" Savitri's comment about her pelt was almost entirely missed by Moto, absorbed as he was with her lineage.

"Jasiri going by Moto..." She couldn't help but smile, finding amusement in this. She looked at 'Moto', tail flicking. "I don't get to do anything special, really. I just do what every other cub does." Except every other Firekin cub didn't go to play with the slaves...
Blue eyes turned to Hodari as she considered his question. Then she remembered, having almost forgotten. "Look at me, I have no markings. I'm solid white." She shook her head, ears back. "Finar-si has cursed me with this simple pelt, when my sisters all bear blacks and reds, my cousins are the color of blood..." Her aunts and uncles, as far as she knew, were also reds, her parents were red... And she was white. "I look like Mother's slave, Kimiko, more than a Firekin."

Hodari's fur was beginning to stand on end because of Jasiri's antics. He wished that his brother had never found the two of them. He was missing out on so much of the conversation because of how much Jasiri but in. When his brother began to become interested in the royal lineage, Hodari shook his head. It was fascinating, but what stuck with the cub was how Savitri seemed to look down on herself so much because of her color. This was beyond anything Hodari could have ever imagined.
Hodari wanted to add more to the conversation, but bit his tongue when Savitri continued to speak. Wanting to cheer her up, Hodari chimed in with some kind words, "Yes, but that's where you're wrong! You don't want to fit in with everybody! What's the fun in that? When everybody is red and you're white, you're like a diamond in the--" The cub paused when his new friend mentioned slaves.
As a cub in the pridelands it was surprising that Hodari even knew what she was talking about. Having overheard some conversation with the adults the cub had a very faint knowledge of it. "Wait. Slaves?" The cub's eyes were wide in surprise. He had believed that all prides were similar to his own and to hear of such a thing shocked him.

Kivuli hopped up silently and popped up right in front of Jasiri
"Hi! Your mom told me to come get you and tell you to come home now - she wants to talk to you. She said it's serious."
Before Moto could even respond, he quickly hopped over to Hodari, stood right in front of his face, and said "Your mom said she wants you to come home cause she wants to talk to you. It's serious"
With that Kivuli hopped away happily, believing that he had accomplished his mission.
Moto just blinked in surprise and amazement. He wasn't entirely sure what has just happened, but he instinctively turned around and started heading off towards the solid black hare. After a second, he stopped, turned his head around and said "Nice to meet you Savitri!" Then he hurried back after Kivuli. He was hoping to beat his brother home just so he wouldn't get yelled at for lagging this time.

Hodari's head turned quickly when he saw the darkest of the hare kittens appear before his brother. Kivuli was born in the second litter of Cheshi and Sungura, but was as helpful to the lions as all the other young hares. Being roped into relaying messages, the young hare retold what he was said to and quickly hopped away.
Lowering his ears in embarassment, the cub looked back to Savitri and smiled awkwardly. "Yea. Mom tends to send the hares because they're quick and can find us pretty easily."
Hearing the quick shuffle of paws coming from behind him, Hodari glanced over to see his brother running back towards the pridelands. Quickly, Hodari looked back to the pale female and added, "Looks like we gotta run! Hopefully we'll see you soon!" And at that note, he bounded off after his flame tailed sibling.

"Yeah, slaves... You've never kept slaves before...?" It was a surprise to her. She'd grown up only knowing lions of any other blood to be slaves. But then, she'd never considered herself much better than one. Her pelt was abysmal...
Frowning, the white cub hurried after Hodari. "Wait!" She stopped, unsure of what to say. After a moment, she looked at her paws. "We should meet up again... I had... Fun..." She looked back, smiling at him. It wasn't a forced one, but a genuine smile. Then she turned, hurrying back towards home. "See you later, Hodari and Jasiri Moto!"
