Thank you for making a legitimate point. Men tend to be violent (physically), women tend to use emotional or financial abuse. The reason for this is, of course, men are generally physically stronger than women. This isn't some feminazi bias, this is just a physical fact.

I worked at a domestic violence shelter, and the number of male victims was almost nonexistent. When someone calls the cops, and they come in on a scene, they usually drag off the person without a bunch of bruises all over them. No bias there. It's not hard to figure out who's more beat up after a fight.

You'll have to excuse me for laughing at people when they say there's an unfair bias in favor of women while we are all living in a patriarchal society. Women are a lot of things, but we're hardly in control of the culture and the government. If we were, we wouldn't be making 80% of what men make, and we wouldn't live in a culture where our looks are the most important thing that can give us value as romantic partners or even human beings.

Well, the points made are like saying that studies have shown females 'raping' (survey people had a definiton) males has been on an increase in the last several years. It may be true technically (circumstances omitted and ignored), but its like spitting in a pool, and then throwing the pool into the ocean, it doesn't measure up. Mind you, I find any arguements about sexes is about as cyclically idiot as most arguements about religions. My favorite is 'abrahamic relgions' vs 'pagans'. "They killed and burned some of us over the last hundred years." "Well, we fed them to the lions before that." Even with technical correctness, theres falsified and/or cover-up information which just detracts from the whole arguement.

Most of you all who participated in the stupid banter and bashings of the opposite sex completely sicken me. It's so beautifully idiotic and chaotic, it's sickening. I love you all.

EDIT - I'd like to apologize to everyone for the previous version of this post (if you saw it). There are some things that are natural hot-buttons for me, and this particular "statistic" happens to be one of them. Not a good excuse, but at least it may help people to understand why I was so... angry sounding.

That is a highly biased statistic. The subject is discussed by John Stossel in his book "Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity."

In short, the reason men make more money than women is a matter of priorities.

Men place a higher priority on making money, and as such will do extremely difficult, labor intensive work (or anything else, for that matter) so long as the paycheck is nice and high.

The vast majority of women prefer to have a job that is flexible, which inevitably leads to lower wages. When you do less hours of work, or when you need the ability to do less hours of work, you make less money.

It is not a matter of gender bias or sexism. Men make more because they choose to, and women make less because it isn't the top item on their list.

Everyone knows that the world is going to end because we want to throw 50 megaton firecrackers at each other. We can't stop squabbling over land and deities long enough to look at the big picture.

What we *need* is an apocalypse of some kind, in my opinion.

EDIT: Whoa. I think by not reading the entire topic I completely missed something. That said, the world is obviously going to end because of people arguing over a statistic.
