I'm not too sure about this one, I'm only in second semester German... but I'll try.

Herr sounds like English 'hair'
The tz mixs to make more of a ts sound like in hits
The e is pronounced (short e) since there are generally no silent letters in German.
The actual sound of the o is where I'm a little shady. Since it has two consonants after it it should be a short 'o' sound like the english one.

Yeah, but more of a short 'eh' rather than 'ay' sound I think, although I'm not quite sure.

I know the pronunciations and what-not and various vocabulary but i still don't have a strong foundation in the language (and I know I won't with only what I've learned so far)

So can anyone give me some tips on what areas of the language I should try to master first? And some of the things I should make sure to know?

Well, in my opinion, if you're going to be mainly on gaia using german, learn writing and reading first and the articles for the each noun (der, die, or das). I still need to learn the article my self sweatdrop
