which D? there's 3? But the highest one... I learned when I was going out for SEIBA... so it would have been about 2 or 3 years

The highest note on a B flat clarinet is not a D (fingered2&3 and on the bottom 4 & right pinky). In fact, it is a high C above that note. It is part of the Altissimo register, as is the D and every note above that. There are different ways to finger it, but mostly you just "bite" a little harder and pray you reach it! lol Many famous Clarinetists have played that note in the past. Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, and my personal fav Artie Shaw. Look up on youtube.com Artie Shaw (clarinet in jazz). the very last note he plays is the note i'm talking about. And that song is a b***h to play. I played it for my Senior Recital in college.

As for answering the original question you posted...Within the first 15 minutes. I am what people call a savant. I'm extraordinarily gifted with music. I play 13 instruments and sing ( all self taught ).

It took me a few minutes, but I was just messing around. I didn't need it for a year, so it took a while to get it a second time around.

I learned it prolly 7 years ago... It's not hard, but you guys should look at some of the literature out there... one movement of a piece was called Rhumba Rhumba, and it had some annoying jumps.. like Bb above the staff to F above the staff in sixteenth note runs that start on the and of the beat. It was annoying, but good practice using covered F and one/one Bb
