Even though the timer rang, she didn't get up immediately. The timer was merely a reminder to mommy to come back to them and ask for apologies and pass out hugs too. You didn't get up from the chair until mommy or daddy came and told you you could move your butt. But she did give her a brother a smile. "Ring time."

"Our children, and yes. Yes that is what I'm saying. We have to face those facts right. I mean look at my family...we have some weird eye thing going on in the genes that's oddly recessive yet not at the same time. And it's vampirically related." As much as he hated to admit it because he really hadn't wanted it passed to his son but it seemed it had been anyway. He felt bad about it honestly. But a look to the children as the timer rang. "I suppose it couldn't hurt. They're smart for thier age to at least get something across with the right worded questions. If not...we could always ask the doctors at the clinic. Maybe whatever they gave you can spike recessive or base race traits."

"I'll check my records after we finish with this and see if anything about this has popped up before. Or maybe Dr. Bowen mentioned something during our initial interview session at our appointment?" Shaking her head and then walking over to the twins. "We can't have cookies before dinner because then our tummies are full and we won't eat all of our dinner. You had to sit in time-out because you broke the rule. We also don't try to do things we aren't supposed to do because things get broken and you can get hurt. Now, I'm going to ask you both and I want the truth. Thobias, how did the cookie jar get broken?"

"I sorry." Rubbing at his wet eyes and sniffling. "My fault, not Sissy." The question gave him pause and he tilted his head thinking about it for a moment. He was still angry with her for punishing his sister when she hadn't done anything wrong. Frowning at her, he glanced up at his father and then figured he'd better answer. "Wish."

"I'm sure they have something to look at." Shrugging lightly and deciding to approach this all with an open mind. After all...it wasn't all impossible. Following her back to the living room, he let her do the mothering thing before a nod to his son as he looked at him. Better to answer mommy. "Wish? You wished for the jar to break?"

Despite the timer going off, she still sat in her chair, kicking her legs lightly in occupation of herself. "Sorries." She assumed she had been in trouble for helping move things about...or drinking her brother's juice. Apparently it was more about cookies though.

He frowned and shook his head. "No. Wish for cookie. Sissy want to ask for help but I wish. Jar go boom." Squeezing his eyes tight and his fists clenching in concentration, he wished again that he could have a cookie.

It was times like these that she really was amazed. Thobias rarely said two words unless he was spoken to directly but that didn't mean the child couldn't speak or didn't understand...as he'd just proven. She spun in surprise at the sound of the jar shattering again, right before her very eyes, cookies spilling out of the center. "Xearus..." She was so not seeing what she just saw...was she?

He was delighted that he'd been able to do it again and nodded. "See? Wish." Then remembering that he was in trouble and so was his sister, he lowered his head. "Not purple-fish." Which was his way of saying it was an accident.

He jumped at the breaking sound and looked back to see the jar in shatters again and cookies all over the floor moments after it looked like his son was concentration on something...or rather wishing for a cookie as hte boy had put it. He frowned. "I'm checking the gas..." Which yes, he did walk off to go check the gas.

She immediately gave a distress noise and fidgeted, flailing her arms a little. He was going to be in trouble again! Obviously she wanted him to stop. Biting her lip she looked between her mother and the jar again a few times, still distressed noises before closing her eyes and giving the same concentration look as her brother...and look at that, jar fixed itself again.

He was back in time to see that...and frowned. "Unfortunately...it's not the gas." He had hoped he was hallucinating. But then a blink as he noted something about his daughter's flailing. Walking over, he knelt down and caught her tiny wrist, stopping it's motion and pushing up her sleeve. Hm...that birthmark on the inside of her wrist seemed...different. Darker, more defined, some kind of definate shape.

"No...it's not the gas." There was no other explanation than the obvious truth. Her children were somehow breaking and fixing things...wishes they called them but she had a feeling it had more to do with the desire than anything else. She sat down fully on the floor and pushed her hands through her hair, then blinked when her son came and cuddled in her lap.

He hated it when either of his parents, or his sister for that matter, looked like that. It was so...upsetting. He knew she hadn't fully given him the right to get up yet but she looked like she could use a hug. Pushing between her arms, he plopped in her lap and wrapped his little arms as far around her as they would go. "Sorries."

She hugged him back, brushing her fingers through his hair and shook her head. "You've got to learn to obey the rules, Thobias. When I say no cookies before dinner that doesn't mean you get to wish for them and get them anyway." Wait...could they do this little trick with more than just a cookie jar? Glancing at Xearus, about to propose said theory, she frowned. "What?" Glancing at her daughter's wrist and then the identical mark on Thobias'. "They've been there since they were born. Remember?"

"Well...the house just got more interesting...didn't it?" But a look to the kitchen and he gave a sharp whistly to dogs who decided to take advantage of the situation and were vaccuming up cookies. "Hey hey! Out of the kitchen!" Watching then startle in surprise before grabbing last cookies and scampering out. A shake of hsi head and he returned to the matter at hand. "Yes they have, but now they seem more defined. Really, give a good look at his."

Not sure what was going on now, but letting daddy look as he wanted. Were they still in trouble?

"And not in a good way." She glanced back at the ruckus and shook her head as Mercury and Caprice went running. "Make sure you let Mercury out or he'll mess up my rug with regurgitated cookie." She really didn't see the point of studying the birthmark but glanced at her son's and then stood up. Heading upstairs, she picked up the twins' baby books and walked back down, flipping them open to the page where she'd sketched the birthmarks with exact location as well as a photograph. Studying the recorded version and the current, she nodded. "So, what's your theory, Dr. Calder?"

"My theory? Don't have one really...something odd is going on and I don't think we have the means to answer us. Even if science is your specialty and less than normal things is mine. Could mention it to the doctors at the clinic. They may know something...after all, there was a serum involved in all of this...could be just us and the genetic pool, or could be an induced phenonena. All we can do it ask." Letting his daughter go and wandering off a moment, grabbing Mercury by his collar and leading hte dog to the back door, letting him out. "And no my fault yours can't handle a cookie or two."

"Good. I was afraid you were going to throw one of your case studies at me and completely freak me out. Last thing I need is our children comparing to one of your subjects. We'll mention it at the twins' checkup in a few months and keep an eye on them and what magically gets broken around them. I have a feeling this spreads to more than just cookie jars." Getting apologies and hugs from both kids, she sent them back into the living room to play and frowned at her husband. "It's not his fault he has digestive problems. Just because Caprice has a stomach of iron doesn't mean all dogs have to. Now, we have a light bulb to find and a string of lights to get working."

"Nah, I'd just freak myself out. Besides...spontaneous breaking and fixing of things isn't on my list of odd case motive for someone to go slaughter other people. And I don't do that kind of thing anymore, you know that. These days it's more Pavlov than psychos." Chuckling lightly as he watched the kids move off to play again. "Yeah yeah...stupid bulb....we're buying new ones next year."
