"Well I don't know where she is now," He said with a small shake of his head. At the mention of her absense, his ears seemed to droop. Even so, he watched Jiona and wondered when her eyes turned blank what she was thinking about.
"Oh." He said as he took a moment to process what she had told him. From what she had said it seemed she hadn't been to badly off. Her mother had died, that he sympathized, but she still had her father, hadn't she? So she too had had someone.
But there was something about what she had said a moment ago, about it being nice to have someone, that made him doubt that her father had stayed with her for very long.
"When was that?"

She glanced at him when he spoke of his sister. "Oh, you don't? What happened?" Had she left him on purpose? Perhaps they were seperated? She could tell he missed her, that much was obvious. She had a strange urge to nuzzle him, to comfort him. She fought that urge though, concentrating on his next words instead.
"When? Oh, I was young. Once I knew I could hunt small animals for myself, I left. I was always a loner." She glanced away from him again, obviously not telling the whole truth. Sh couldn't meet those kind eyes, for she knew if she did she'd spill her whole childhood to him, and she just couldn't do that.

Djakovo shrugged. Now that he thought of it, he wasn't really sure how it had happened. "One mornin' I woke up and she wasn't there," He said. How common it sounded when he said it out loud, but he had known from that moment that she hadn't meant to just leave him alone. She rarely woke up earlier than he, so he had gone to look for her and never had found her.
"Well, I..." He paused as he tried to find words. He wasn't known to be a wonderful conversationalist, so it often took him a while to find the right thing to say. He always put so much thought into his words, making sure they were the right ones to be said. "That's hard to believe." He said finally with a little awkward smile.
The truth was, he could use a little company, though he wasn't one for really going into deep, opinionated conversations, he was completely happy to just sit and listen to whatever others had to say. It made him feel less alone, in a time when he was, and for that at least he could find it in himself to be grateful.

((Hey Moon~ << >> Would you be up for them having a one night stand? >3 He wouldn't have to have any obligation to the babies~ Unless you want him to. xD She wouldn't try to hunt him down or anything. xD But of course, if you want them to have a relationship I'm more than willing to have that happen too~ <3 I dunno if you had any plots for him though, so I just wanted to see if you'd be interested~ x3))
Jiona looked back over at him, a little surprised. "What do you think happened to her?" She asked. She had the feeling his sister wouldn't just up and leave him, who could? He was so sweet and innocent.
Jiona returned the weak smile, laughing softly. "Well, since then I've become more inclined to look for company, I'll admit." Looking into those eyes made her want to tell him everything. How cruel her father had been, how she still blamed herself for her mother and brothers' deaths, how all she wanted was to forget the past. "I..." She started, trying to bite the words back. She looked away from him again, her head hanging low, "I didn't have the best childhood."

Well at the moment he has nothing to do, and I've been searching for something to do with him. A fling sounds just perfect for him, since I've been trying to find something to guilt trip him with xD
Although I wouldn't mind either if it developed into a relationship of some sort. Maybe they could have babies and he'd run off and they bumped into each other again or something out of the blue and he'd be all "OMGIDESERVETODIE D::" and then something could happen xD

((Ooh and I was also thinking, it would be awesome plot twist for him xD
He's never even thought of having a mate/babies, even with a lion, so it could teach him a lesson about how social standards can be absolute BS. xDD))
He shook his head, not quite knowing how to answer. He himself had no idea, as the one thing he knew for certain was that she had not left on purpose. For all he knew, she might have gone back later on to join him again only to find that he had gone. He didn't like the idea that she might have thought he had simply left and abandoned her, but it was what it was and he could only hope that when they did find each other again, all would be okay.
For a moment, he was tempted to try a joking comment, but after a moment's thought, he decided against it. It was easier just to keep silent and smile inside than to ruin the mood with the wrong thing to say. It was hard, sometimes, to figure out whether or not what he had on his mind what was should be voiced at the moment, and many of his thoughts went unspoken. But for just a spark of a moment, he had been tempted to step slightly beyond the boundaries of his personal walls to see what lay out there.
"Couldn't have been easy," He said with a little nod. He knew what loss was, and he knew how hardships during childhood could shape a creature as they grew. He was evidence of it, and try as he might to deny it, he knew how strange he had turned out after the death of his parents.

((Yay! 8D They'll make awesome babies~ xD I need another RP for Jiona before she can breed, so I'll get right on that~ <3 And I think that's a really good idea~ having them seperate and then they can run into eachother again. Maybe when the babies are juves~ x3))
For some reason, his lack of words seemed to fit the conversation, and she was glad he didn't push her to tell him what had happened. Which made her want to tell him even more. Jiona had never felt like she could trust anyone, always worried they would hurt her in the end, like her father. But with Djakovo she felt... safe. She had never experienced it before, and she was scared, but happy at the same time. What strange feelings this male made her have.
She smiled weakly at his comment, nodding a little. "No, it wasn't easy. You see..." She looked at him, gulping slightly, before spilling her guts, "My mother died while giving birth to me. My brother died only a few days after her, and my father blamed me for both of them. He didn't hurt me physically, he fed me and sheltered me, but reluctantly. Once I could hunt small animals I left. But I know he was right, it was my fault... All my fault." She hung her head low, closing her eyes and sighing heavily.

Mmm, well I currently have 5 on-going RPs with one finished for him, meaning once a few of those finish, he'll be good to go x3))
"No," He found himself saying softly as she finished her story. There should be no guilt for what Nature had in mind. It couldn't have been anyone's fault for Jiona's mother's death, and the fact that she felt like she was the one to blame made something twist inside him. It wasn't right, and he felt a flash of resentment for the leopard he had never met who had made Jiona shoulder the blame.
"It isn't your fault," He didn't like the sight of anyone feeling guilty, or anything near it, especially at close proximity. For a moment he stood, at a loss for what to do, or what he could say to console her and try to convince her that she wasn't to blame for anything that had happened in her childhood. But he couldn't find the words.
Then, something posessed him to do something, instead of look for something to say and fail to find it. Awkwardly, like many of his other movements and words when they involved another creature, he took a few steps closer to Jiona and lowered his muzzle under her chin and gently guided her head upward. He wasn't used to such gestures, but he felt surprised that he was not awash with a sense of wrongfulness.

Jiona glanced at him when he spoke, not able to believe his words. Even though it made her feel beter to hear it; she still blamed herself. She didn't think she would ever change her mind about that, it was so ingrained into her life that she couldn't go a day without thinking about it.
His next action surprised her, but she let him lift her head. She gazed at him for a few moments, trying to find something to say, anything, but no words found her. Instead, she rubbed her head into his mane, her eyes closed tightly. She had never before told anyone of her story, and she didn't know why she trusted this lion so, but as she nuzzled him she knew she would never forget him, no matter what happened.

It felt right. That was what surprised him the most about it, although the fact that Jiona had not cursed him and run away screaming followed pretty closely. It was the closest he had ever got some another, save for his sister, and that in itself was something huge for him.
He didn't quite know what else to say, or what else he could do, so he sat down beside her and contented himself to staying there in silence with her until she was ready to do otherwise.
That it did not fill him with a sense of guilt was what made him stay there, because for once he felt as if he had done something fitting the situation and there was a sort of peace that enveloped him with the feeling. He looked down at her with a small smile that, for once, was not forced or awkward. Rather, the small show of emotion was something that he did not realize was there, nor had intended it to be. It was real emotion, coming from so far down inside him that he didn't know that it existed within him.
Reassuringly he nuzzled her forehead with his muzzle, content in knowing that whatever tomorrow would bring, perhaps he would have helped her free herself from the blame that she could not be responsible for.

Jiona leaned against Djakovo, nuzzling deeper into his mane. She looked up at him and returned his smile gladly, sighing contentedly. Normally she would feel the need to speak, but for once she was enjoying the silence. It felt like an understanding between them; they didn't need words to express it.
She had never had this feeling before; being able to just be with someone, and enjoy it so much. It was the best feeling she had ever experienced, and she knew that even spending this night one night together would be worth it. She didn't care what the morning would bring; she was just glad to be with Djakovo.
