SUPERSQUIRRELX Hmm.. I'd be lying if I said I never did it. But, I think that usually lust and masturbation go hand-in-hand (no pun intended gonk ) Although... I'm not entirely sure. It releases a fair amount of sarotonin in the brain having a positive effect on mood. I dunno why God would condemn something has has a positive effect on the body like that... normally sin has a long-term detrimental effect on the body. On top of that, the Bible doesn't say anything about masturbation... which can is kinda confusing confused . Jesus said that if you lust for a women then you have commited adultery in your heart so yeah.

Good luck proving that either of those are sinful. Also, as shown in Colossians 2:13-17, those laws aren't our problem anymore.

So, basically, we have every reason to refute the fact that masturbation is NOT as sin, because it is!

Jesus said that if you lust for a women then you have commited adultery in your heart so yeah. The enjoyment of sex is a satisfaction of lust. I'm gathering that what Jesus meant was that if you lust for another woman (than your spouse), that is adultery of the heart. But, I'm not Christian, so I'm not very sure. =]

Masturbation (which is defined as self-abuse) is a sin because it is usually linked with either lust or pornography. Lets start with lust.
Matthew 5:28 "But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already committed adultery with her in his heart." And as we should all be aware of, one of the ten commandments God gave to Moses what "Do not commit adultery" which is in Exodus 20:14
Another verse that talks about lust is Colossians 3:5. "So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual sin, impurity, lust, and shameful desires..."
I'll post one more about lust. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 "God wants you to be holy, so you should keep clear of all sexual sin. Then each of you will control your body and live in holiness and honor - not in lustful passion as the pagans do, in their ignorance of God and his ways."
Remember, your body is the temple of God where the holy spirit resides and guides your life. But from what I understand in order to masturbate most people have to "stimulate" their minds, thus lusting. And when one is masturbating they are self-abusing themselves by stimulating themselves in a way that was meant to be done during matrimonial sex.
I think this is alot of info, but if anyone would like more information I'd be happy to help or post. Just pm me : )

Ariedale Yes you can do it too much, in the long run it will hurt things. But someone once told me was that if you can masterbate with out thinking about sexual things then you its ok. because its another form of lusting after something, and thsts a sin. Sry to tell you that but yes. I remember reading the same thing but still it's difficult to not think of a lust full thought and so in somecases just doing it you may be thinking of a lustfull thought without even meaning to. But then If the case is your not going to think of a lustfull thought then you are pretty much better off not doing it at all.

Got my purity ring two years ago, haven't looked at a girl lustfully yet! :3
I used too, but I stopped, cause I spend my time praying if I have the urge. Next time you think about it, pray about it. The way one interprets the bible could be different then the way another one does, so in realization, both opinions, and verses could be true. Just pray about it first. If you get the Okay, then fine, do it. If you don't get anything, don't do it!

Duroonsia So, would a wet dream be a sin. Do you have control over it, and are you deliberately thinking sexual thoughts at the time?

Personally, I have no problem with it. I do it, it feels nice, and I think God has other things to worry about then people who wank off.
Besides, I look up all this s**t that says masturbation is good for the body. For me, it helps my headaches, cramps, helps me sleep, and just generally can be a fix to a stressful day.

Masturbation is wrong. God does care when one person masturbates or does any other sin. I read that masturbating helps with stress. I think it adds stress. And it wastes time.

I believe it's important to curtail masturbation as much as possible. Be humble and try to repent of the lust behind the action. You may have an addiction to masturbation as many do. If this is the case, you may try finding activities to take your mind off of it. Exercise, read, go to bed on time, talk to friends, and avoid things that arouse your urges in order to fight the addiction. Whether or not you succeed, stay vigilant and don't get discouraged if you make a mistake. God loves you and knows you better than you know yourself. He knows your deepest desires, your strengths and weaknesses. There are emotional reasons behind an addiction to masturbation that He can heal. You may need to talk to a religious leader, a counselor who understands your beliefs or find a supportive friend who can be there for you.
Peace.
