She wasn't sure of what he was blabbering about. She didn't think that anyone could get hurt, not did she think that anyone could hurt her more then one had that cold winters night. She physically shuddered at the thought of that fated night where she could feel the fangs of another at her throat, but it didn't seem to be the same things...

"I don't know what your going on about, but there seem to be worse things." She shuddered again as the image of a black shadow with glowing honey colored eyes flickered about making her ears turn back.

If she hadn't been haying down already she would surely have collapsed and damaged something. Keeping her ears back against her head she looked back toward Axel, seeing how strong he was and how he seemed to just shrug everything away. She wondered if he would laugh at her. Laugh at the fear she had, a foalish fear, but a fear none the less.

"So you would rather face the fangs of a skinwalker alone?" She asked her voice somewhat unbalanced as her eyes closed as she tried to shoo the memory away. "Of the fangs of a Kolana that just happens to think that you would make a good snack when you are too tired to defend yourself?" She shook her head, "Nevermind, you wouldn't fall for their tricks, like I have..."

Axel wasn't sure what she was talking about! He paused and pondered her question. Would he rather be in that kind of danger or the kind where his emotions are in play? The answer was automatically decided for him because of his bias personality. "I don't think there's anything worse than emotional scarring. If I had to pick between injuring myself physically or injuring myself emotionally, I would rather have myself hurt physically. At least those wounds heal."

The stallion was watching her curiously and noticed her strange change in attitude. What was going on here? "Yes, I would rather face those things then scarring my emotions. I would never get stuck in those kind of situations anyway. And if I ever did..." Axel took a slight pause, "I would rather be dead then living the way I do now."

Dragging herself back to her hooves, a faint scar was revealed upon the back of her left ankle. The scar itself didn't make the injury look that bad, but she didn't take it too lightly at the time. She hated herself for what had happened, but still felt that she was to give trust a chance. Though she did find better places to sleep nights now then within deep, dark forests.

"Emotional, physical. Both hurt just the same I hear. Both leave you crying in pain, one way or another, if you would rather be dead, why bother breath? It's because you can't stop the most obvious habit that all us mortals have. But if you don't like the way you live, why not just try something new? Something you would possibly dream of doing?"

She had made her way back over toward Axel, drawing herself closer to him then she had intended. She wasn't sure if she was trying to prove a point or not, but she circled around him before placing herself back into his path. Her wings shuffling at her sides as she stood with her nose a few inches, a foot at best, from his own.

"What's the point of living, if one is afraid of just letting go and doing something unexpected? I tried trusting a skinwalker, nearly cost me my life." She shrugged, though shuddered inside, "Now that memory haunts me every night, I can't escape it, like you can't escape your fears." She stopped turning her head to one side, watching him through the gaps in her mane. "What do you fear the most? Emotional harm? Or something more?"

The stallion continued to watch her in silence. He wasn't sure what to say but he could feel her words stabbing the depths of his heart. Glancing at the scar, Axel didn't think twice about it. He didn't think scars were good indicators of pain because they did get smaller with time. "I continue living because I'm looking to find if my life is actually worth something. So far, there are no hints of any worth but for some reason I just won't die. I'll let myself die when the time comes. There is nothing new to try because I have something I need to do. And I won't rest until I figure it out. I don't dream."

Stepping away from her, Axel wanted to keep a distance from her. It was almost as if the distance apart they were represented their relationship with each other. Pausing, Axel listened to her story, he knew what he would say on gut reaction. 'Sucks for you.' But he refrained from saying that aloud. "I don't have any fears. I have things that make me uncomfortable." He didn't like admitting he had fears because that just meant he was vulnerable.

Oh she just wanted to turn and kick him square in the head to see if anything would rattle about. But she didn't, she refrained from doing mortal harm to anyone that could possibly do worse to her, though her wings did open over her back much like a glowering bird might over its prey that refused to sit still in one place. Turning her head she marched closer, not wanting to let the distance get too great between them, though she made sure that she was till fair enough away.

"Everyone has fears, a dark spot they wish no one to know. They keep those fears to themselves until one day they are too much to handle and they drive a mind mad. But you would know all about that wouldn't you? Because you hide within them, creating a black bubble about her where you hope no one can see you. Where you won't let a helping hoof reach out and try and help you. You know it all..." She was digging and hoped it was getting somewhere.

"Axel, you aren't alone." She said finally after a pause. "I don't know what it feels like to be alone, or what it feels like to be you. But I do know that not everyone deserves to be alone. Not even someone without a soul, as you claim you have not. What greater worth could you seek then perhaps the love of someone who might just be closer then you think, but fear to look in case that someone happens worse then a heartless monster."

Her voice was soft, caring and gentle, the voice her mother had always used when she was just a foal some time back. It felt strange to hear it coming from her own mouth to where she didn't think it was even her speaking. Remaining where she was she just watched Axel, curious of his reaction, though she feared that her words might just spark something and he would go off his nut and attack her.

Axel didn't want to be so close but he couldn't get his feet to move away from her. He could feel the cool breeze on his back and that momentarily sent a chill up his spine. "You think you understand me don't you." He paused and thought about the most offensive words he could say to her, "Well, you don't. So just run along and go about your life like you had never met me. I don't want to get close to others because I don't want relationships." The stallion could feel the flames of his temper licking the inside of his heart.

Finally regaining control of his limbs, Axel turned around and began stalking away from her. He truly didn't want to hurt her and he knew that if his temper got out of hand, he would do things he would regret. Feeling a stab of pain in his heart, Axel closed his eyes for only a second to help channel that pain away. He didn't like running away from things but he needed to get away from this mare, forever.

"I wish I did, but can anyone understand the seasons?" she asked, but just watched him stalk away from her, leaving her in the snow that seemed to freeze about her hooves. "Fine! be that way, live within your fears, your hatred." She cried, turning to dash the other direction.

Running blindly she didn't see where it was that she was heading. Her eyes tightly closed as she ran, her wings pulled tightly at her sides. She couldn't believe him, she wouldn't, she couldn't. If he didn't wish to harm anyone, he just had, to her knowing... barely opening her eyes, Wica let out a yelp, one that scattered a small flock of wintering birds into the air. A hoof got caught up in a snarled root making her tumble.

Sliding down a somewhat steep embankment, Wica came to a halt at the base. Her wings a bit disheveled and her legs tucked in close to her body, she felt alright, but something told her, something was wrong. Dark ears twitched as something stirred about her, paws...

Eyes fluttered open as she raised her head to shake when snow that clung to her coat away, she looked around. There seemed to be nothing there, just snow covered bushes and a lot of snow period. Standing she tried to shift her wings, one moved, the other didn't. What was going on? What had happened to her? Looking up from where she stood, Wica blinked at the distance she had fallen, it was a wonder she didn't break her neck.

"Hello?" she called as she heard something moving behind her, "Is someone there?" Move movenent, no answer. "Hello?" She called again, but was met by the howl of wolves.

Her heart leaped into her throat as she backed away from her current spot, her head turning from side to side as the white and gray beasts started to slink out of their hiding places. Dark menacing eyes glared at her as growls came to their throats. About six wolves surrounded her, circling, coming ever closer to her. Wica wished she could fly, but one wing remained pinned to her side.

Rearing and fanning out her other left wing she tried driving the wolves away, but they still came closer. Growl matching her cries in hopes to scare them. A couple nipped at her back legs, which she kicked when she was back on all fours. She was scared, nearly frozen to her spot, her reactions delayed as the wolves came still closer, drool escaping their mouths.

"Go away!" Wica screamed rearing again, her heart fluttering madly, her mind trying to get her to run, to fly, to flee, but she remained to her spot, scared.

Axel felt tired as she spoke but then as she ran away, he could feel a pang in his heart. Pausing, the stallion looked down at the ground and closed his eyes trying to channel the pain away. Then he heard her scream and then another pang shot through his chest. "Just like her to get into trouble..." Axel muttered slightly and turned around rather hesitantly unsure of what he should do.

He knew what he should do but he didn't want to do it. Because if he went after her, that meant that he was willing to let her into his private bubble and he really wasn't sure if he was ready for that at all.

Sighing angrily, Axel demanded his feet move in the direction Wica ran off too. He walked slowly and gazed around wondering where she was. She shouldn't have gotten very far. Looking at the root, Axel gazed down to where Wica was. He could barely make out her form but he noticed the wolves beginning to surround her. Sliding down the embankment, Axel snarled defensively at the wolves. Raising his hooves, he stamped down onto the ground, leaving a huge dent in the softened earth.

The wolves swarmed leaping at Wica's back, a couple making a solid landing before being bucked off, taking a hunk of mane with them. The screamed again as the scent of her blood was thrown into the air creating a stronger blood lust within the wolves. Wica backed up as far as she could have gone as the wolves created a semi-circle, cornering her between themselves and the embankment.

Their attentions were diverted as another came a sliding down into their midst. A stallion, but Wica's blood was in the air and they knew it. Leaving two to keep after the mare, four wolves slink around toward the stallion. Heck, two for the price of one, they must have thought as one of the larger wolves leaped toward Axel, his teeth bared and ready to tear flesh from bone, only to be knocked back as the stallion reared and came back down.

Wica, who had been watching the wolves looked up as Axel had come down the embankment and was snarling at the wolves. She first thought that she was seeing things, she didn't think that Axel would have come for her. Not after it was that had happened. But he was there, bubble or not, smiling bleakly, she reared at the wolves before her, coming down to scatter the two before her, letting her escape her 'prison'

"Axel!" She called charging over toward him, but stopped as the wolves again turned on her. "I thought you wanted to forget about me?" she teased, even if the moment was completely wrong and she stomped as the wolves seemed very interested in the pair within thieir grasp.

Axel was losing control of his temper and his growling grew louder and louder as the wolves continued to harass Wica. Even though he had his own worries, he kept glancing over to Wica to make sure that she was alright. He was so angry with himself for putting her in this kind of situation. If he hadn't yelled at her then maybe they wouldn't be in this predicament right now.

Continuing to rear up and bring his hooves to the ground, Axel glared at the wolves with cold eyes. He turned around and used his back hooves to kick at one of the wolves that was jumping at him. He noticed that Wica was trying to get close to him and he moved over to the wolves that were in her way and scattered them so that he was standing next to Wica. He kept his aggressive stance as the wolves circled around them.

Ears turning back again, Wica backed away from the wolves that leaped at her. Keeping her head high, she pawed at the ground nervously. the wolves were starting to get on her nerves, flinching she bucked another from her back, kicking this one while it was still in the air.

With a yelp, the wolf vanished back into the snow as others soon followed, a couple limping, the others with their tails tucked under their bellies. Shaking her head, Wica watched them flee, then at the bloodied ground, most of it was hers. Shaking she looked at Axel, the one stallion she hadn't expected to come to her cries, though she had to wonder why... Letting herself calm some, her nerves still a bit on end, her wings pulled in close.

"I thought you didn't want to see me again?" she asked softly, feeling that his anger had spiked since a few moments ago.

There was more she wanted to ask, but first things were first, she wanted to be out of the 'hole' and back on higher ground. More importantly, she didn't want to hurt all over anymore, she could feel her blood oozing over her coat, making her shiver, she could only hope it would stop soon. Letting her head hang a little, she did feel helpless.

"Nevermind, lets just get out of here, I don't like this place anymore." She whined opening her wings, though one opened more stiffly letting a couple of feathers drift to the ground.

Even as the wolves ran away, Axel's temper was still fuming in his ears just wanting to be released. Shaking his head, the stallion didn't make eye contact with Wica and he didn't say anything either. Sighing audibly, Axel just stood there, looking down at the bloodied snow. He cringed at the fact that he knew it wasn't his blood.

"It's okay. I'll help you up the embankment." His voice was monotoned and his attitude seemed rather stoic at the moment. Moving behind her, Axel urged her to start up the embankment intending to push her up to level ground. All this time, he didn't look her in the eyes and instead looked off into the distance. This was probably the closest the two had been but Axel didn't even notice.

She listened to him, she could still feel the tension in the air about him. He was ready for anything she supposed as she stepped over toward the embankment. Looking up for a moment, it did see like a great distance, but she would make it, she hoped.. One hoof before the other, she started climbing, even if the bank itself wanted nothing more then to let her slide, keep her trapped within its gasps to devourer like one large mouth.

Slow and steady she went and managed to keep from slipping and making them both call. Wica was glad to be back on solid, flatter ground by the time the sky had begun to darken. Looking up at the coloring skies, she wondered where the day had gone. Had she spent the whole day arguing with Axel and confronting the wolves? It appeared that way...

Making it to the top, she stepped off to one side, allowing room for Axel to climb over the edge. Her coat flickered again as she shivered, her wounds weren't that back, but they could have been worse, her mane had gaps in it, but she knew it would grow back out again. Her back was lined with claw marks, most just scratches from when the wolves dug in as she bucked them off, but she faired.

"Wolves," She muttered more to herself then anyone else, "You alright Axel?" Her own worries about her own wounds turned toward Axel, she didn't know if he had gotten injured or not, there was too much going on to really pay any attention.

Pushing her up the embankment, Axel didn't even really feel her weight against his body. His eyes were distant and he continued to stay silent as he climbed back up onto even ground. Deep inside, Axel was wondering if his actions really reflected his thoughts right now. He was just as bewildered by his actions as Wica was.

Axel shook slightly to get any mud and dust off of his cloak. Gazing at the disappearing sun, Axel began to wonder where his day had gone. He should have left Wica earlier... He looked over at the mare and her wounds. Another pang shot through his heart knowing that it was his fault that she was injured and bleeding. But again, he continued to avoid eye-contact with her.

"Yea, I'm fine. I should be the one asking you that." He voice had no emotion in it but he knew that he really meant what he said right now. Axel was a little confused about what was going on inside of him. His little bubble had been prodded with a very sharp stick several times today and he felt like it was going to pop... very soon.

"I'll be alright, wounds heal and hair grows." She nodded. "Couldn't be any worse then a story my father had told me when I was little. About him coming face to face with a kolona..." She stopped and shook her head, she didn't need to burden him with stories.

Remaining quite she looked off toward the sunset. It was as beautiful as ever, though it brought back the memory of what another foal had said that she looked much like a sunset with her swirling colors over the brown and ivory background. She never thought that to be true, really.

"The sunsets are always so beautiful. Most the time I wish they would never end." She babbles, trying to distract maybe herself from the pain in her back. "But I know if the sun never truly vanished, it wouldn't appear again to drive away the shadows of night."

Turning her head toward Axel she noted his distance, not really in his movements, but how he tried avoiding eye contact with her. She wondered what he was thinking, but she could only wonder. She had dug too much for one day, and that day was tiring and she was ready to just collapse upon the ground and sleep... Though in a safer place away from noses of those thirsting for blood...
