Translating an English name to Japanese characters, then translating those characters back to Roman characters/roumaji. That's what "Tiffany" would turn into. It's pronounced somewhat the same. My name would be "Koutonii" and your's would be... well, your's would just stay "Sara," but it would be pronounced a bit differently. XD;;

Sooo is that why Light from Death Note is also known as "Raito" because that is the Japanese way of pronouncing or spelling it or something? Or Near would be Nia, right? X_X Oye, sorry, I'm just confused. I'm so horrible at languages, I sorta understand the fundamentals, but that's about it.

And yeah, kind of. Raito's name actually is "Raito," because it uses kanji, which is mostly commonly used for Japanese names. If his name was the actual English word "Light," it would be spelled with katakana, which is used for foreign words. But at the same time, the pronunciation of his kanji name is exactly the same as it would be if his name was in katakana, and is therefore a play on the Japanese spelling/pronunciation on the English word "Light." That's why so many people write his name like that, because his name was intentionally meant to relate to Light. And yes, Near would be Nia. ^^

@Kitsune: Yea... I get so confused with that stuff. Heh. So the Japanese writers named him that on purprose to play on the word light? (Because the name is sort of ironic given his personality, and the fact that he thinks he oughta glow like god and all that..) I think I get it. -.-;
