Volume One of the Jedi Academy trilogy

First of all, this is one of those infamous "KJA" books. Previously, I did not read the Jedi Academy Trilogy because of constant ranting by people that it was terrible. Sure, I admit its not extremelky awesome like the Thrawn Trilogy, but it really wasnt that bad of a story. Sure the dea of the Sun Crusher kinda kilt it, but the way that KJA made it out to Qwi Xux was kinda interesting. Maybe it's me, or maybe it get worse in the next too books but I have to say,, this is a MUSTREAD because the Jedi Academy is a big thing in the later books.

Summary(spoilers): Well it all starts off with Chewbacca and Han on a mission to reesstablish contact with Kessel when the Falcon crashes onto the surface. There, The boys meet up with Moruth Doole, who blames Solo for the loss oh his eye and sends them to work deep in the spice mines of Kessel. There, they meet a young boy, Kyp Durron, who was instructed briefly in the Force by Vima-Da Boda and are attacked by Doole's assasin Skynnex. Skynxnex dies, and the threesome steal a shuttle and take off. They are captured by Admiral Daala and are trapped onboard the Star Destroyer Gorgon . Meanwhile, Luke begins his search for potential Jedi, and finds two, one of whoms people are doomed on the hellish planet of Eol Sha. THe people are relocated to Dantooine, and Luke chooses Yavin IV as the place for his Academy to be. Also, the twins Jacen and Jaina, nw two years old and out of safekeeping on Anothh, struggle to adapt to their Mother, Leia, and their home on Coruscant. Meanwhile on the Gorgon The three guys are interrogated, and eventually befriend Qwi Xux, who designed the Death Star and World Devastators, but was lied to and wasnt told that they were used to terrorize. Xux helps the three escape, and they steal the ultimate doomsday weapon, the Sun Crusher that can destroy a star, and attempt an escape. On their flight from the Maw and Kessel, they run into Luke and Lando, on board the Falcon . Thats pretty much where this book ends.

Dark Apprentice by Kevin J. Anderson

Volume Two of the Jedi Academy Trilogy

Like i said before the Jedi Academy Trilogy, which this book is volume 2 of, is a must-read for anyone reading the EU, as it gives the story of Luke's Jedi academy or praxeum.

Summary (spoilers): The bok starts out with Luke teaching his 12 students, when Gantoris, his first recruit, fianlly meets the Dark Man from his dreams, and is destroyed by the man. Luke uses the Jedi Holocron to tell his students about the Great Sith War against the vile Sith Lord, Exar Kun. Han is bent on teaching poor Kyp, who lived in a spicemine his whole life, how to live, but Kyp decides to join the Jedi Academy. Meanwhile, Admiral Ackbar piloots Leia through a storm, and when his B-wing crashes and kills hundreds, he blams himself, resigns a** Admiral, and exiles himself to his homeworld of Calamari. Meanwhile, Leia learns that Mon Mothma, leader of the Republic, is dying from an unknown wasting disease that cannot be treated. Wedge begins to fall in love with the Death Star's creator, Qwi Xux. On Yavin IV, Kyp is tempted by Exar Kun,, and accepts him as a master. Mara Jade arrives at the academy, but Kyp steals her ship and leaves the planet. Mara decides to leave and calls Coruscant for a ship and leaves the Academy. Meanwhile, Admiral Daala launches an attack on Calimari, so Leia travels there to try and bring back Ackbar. Ackbar leads Calamari to a victory, and destroys one of Daala's Star Destroyers. He refuses to leave Calimari, promising to help rebuild it from the World Devastator's and Star Destroyers'' attacks. On Calimari, Leia meets a potential Jedi Candidate, and sends her to the Academy. Kyp Durron returns to Yavin IV, and with the help of Exar Kun, drains Luke's life-for e from him, leaving his body but not his soul, and brings the Sun Crusher back from the Depth's of the core of the Gas Giant Yavin. Kyp takes the suncrusher into the Cauldron Nebula, and destroys the stars there, seemingly destroying Admiral Daala and her fleet.

Specter of the Past by TImothy Zahn

Volume one of the Hand of Thrawn Duology

SUmmary( spoilers): K.. so Leia finds two datacards, one labeled the Hand of THrawn, and noone can read what the card says. THe other says that a group of Bothans helped the then Emperor to sabatoge the shields of the planet Camaas which was brutally ravaged by the Empire. This Camaas document, is tearing the Republic apart. On the Imperial side, Admiral Pellaeon urges the Moffs to surrender. The cunning ex- Royal GUardsman Major Tierce, and the sly Moff Disra, find an impersonator, Flim, who disguises himself to look like the ten year old dead Grand Admiral THrawn. Meanwhile, Luke senses Clones on a pirate ship,m so he and the SMugglers Alliance set off to find thde source of this.

Vector Prime by R. A. Salvatore

Volume One of the New Jedi Order

Vector Prime is the first book in the New Jedi Order series. Now I am one of those who hated the NJO but i decided to give it another chance, and decided to read all of the books.

Summary: It all begins when LEia, Mara and Jaina, piloting the Jade Sabre, go to the planets Osarian and Rhomamool to try and calm the leader of Rhomamool, Nom Anor. Mara, now infected with an uncurable disease, and Jaina use the force to try and sense Nom Anor, but he is a gab in the force. Luke and his apprentices, Jacen and Anakin, make an appeal to the Advisory Council, now run by Chief of State Corsk Fey'lya, to reinstate the Jedi Council, because rogue Jedi, including Kyp Durron, are taking the law into their own hands. Meanwhile, far across the galaxy on the planet Belkadan, ExGal, a scientific orginasation place, is overrun by a strange plague. ExGal tracks a comet crashing on the fourth moon of the planet Helska and investigate, only for them all to be slaughtered, except for Danni Quee, by the Yuzzhan Vong. The Skywalker/Solo clan all travel to the twin planets of Dubrillion and Destrillion to meet Lando for a vacation. Once there, Lando asks Han Chewie and Anakin to deliver some goods to the planet Serndipal. THe Vong had placed a gravity inducing bug on the planet, and when they arrived, the moon was slowly crashing into the planet.ANakin destroys the bug, but the moon has lost orbit, so they stage an evacuation. While escaping, Chewie throws anakin onboard the Falcon, and Han reaches down to save his best friend, but cannot. Knowing that if they turn around, the whole convoy will be crushed by the moon, Anakin pulls up, leaving Chewie behind to die. Han is crushed and is very angry at Anakin.. Meanwhile, Luke and Mara investigate Belkdan, and then send Jacen in an ice-miner to the ice planet Helska, where they find the Vong base under the ice crust. They escape with Danni, but the war against the Vong has only just begun.

Survivor's Quest by Timothy Zahn


Wow. Stunning Book by the star wars god, Timothy "effing" Zahn. if you read any of his other books, then you must read this.

SUmmary(spoilers): It starts off when Luke finds out that a message intended for he and Mara was intercepted by somebody else. The message was relayed to him by Admiral Parck of the Empire of the Hand, stating that the CHiss had found the remains of Outbound Flight and were returning it to the republic. Luke and Mara accept, and procceed to the Unknown Regions to the Chiss envoy. Inside the Chiss Ship, the Chaf Envoy, the Chiss, Jedi, and Imperials, under Commander Chak Fel of the Empire of the Hand, are contacted by another species, the Geroons, who wish to pay homage to Outbound Flight for defending them from the Vagaari, another species. A series of Mishaps happen onboard, and eventually a Geroon is shot. They reach Outbound Flight, and Luke and Mara sense people onboard. They find the survivors, who hate Jedi, and offer to tAKE them to the republic. They decline. Soon, the Geroons reveal themselvs to be Vagaari, and though the VVagaari lose, Outbound Flight is all but destroyed. The survivors then go to the Empire of the Hand with Chak Fel.
