Argentum looked thoroughly please and nodded, "Correct! However, the note of C is not just for containment and barrier magics. It is rather useful in speed-related castings and in targeting. Which makes it particularly useful if you need to speed up a spell or make it more precise."
"Once you string a few notes together you get a chord and this combination of notes can result in some pretty powerful augments to whatever you're casting. Singing while working has a similar effect as well. For example, if you were preparing components for a spell or a potion that had a specific time frame but you needed it done sooner, singing in the C-key would help to speed up the process - it's not a fast-forward, though, so keep that in mind. If something requires time, there's a reason for it." The last statement was made as a warning to prevent the zeroes from haphazardly augmenting their spells or work.
"Next note?"

Dariyn immediately seemed to perk up a bit, as though gaining confidence...he'd gotten a question right, and that always seemed to make him creep inches out of that shell he'd created about himself, but this time, he tugged at Zethyr's sleeve. "'Thyr...you pick this time." He'd picked the last time, so so long as they were doing this, they could take turns. So saying, he immediately went for a little notebook he had stashed, and started taking notes...not wanting to forget a thing.
Zethyr preferred mental knowledge, if he couldn't remember it, he considered it not worth remembering. "Hmm...since the choice is left up to me, I choose A."

Patiently, they waited for Dariyn, pleased that he seemed to be opening up. When the little one returned, Aureus sung the note A and the corresponding note on the staff resonated. Again energy was raised but it wasn't visible. Rather there was a palpable strengthening of the latent Essence in the area. With no particular spell to focus on the energy just kept building and Aureus had to let the note slide away. Nonetheless, the twins' halos were glowing more brightly. "And what do you think of that?" He asked after a moment, making eye contact with Argentum who merely smirked and shook his head.

Zethyr was somewhat less sensitive in such things than Dariyn was, he preferred more hands-on work...and he sat there, expression thoughtful, indigo eyes fixed on the twins almost as though he didn't see them. "I...really...don't have much of an idea...I'd like to say...that it strengthens, mayhap?"
"Augmentation." Dariyn said softly, crimson eyes fixed on the twins' halos with a childlike fascination. How lovely that was...he was quite quickly becoming more comfortable around the twins, as they were most knowledgeable, and the sharing of information was the best form of conversation for the slender zero.

"Correct, on both accounts, but that's not all...." He smiled knowingly and st at back, eyes fluttering closed as the energy settled and gave all those nearby a sense of being grounded. It didn't really clear anyone's mind but rather centered them, giving them a base to work from. "Can you feel that? What else do expect of A then?"
Aureus was watching Zethyr and Dariyn, however, curious as to how they would react to the delayed effect.

Zethyr closed his eyes, getting a sense of it. "Grounded..." He whispered, "It's a good foundation note, isn't it?" He knew so little about the magic in the music, and that was what he was here to learn, but he hoped that this was what the twins had been trying to pull from them.
Dariyn nodded quietly, to agree with the other, as it sounded right. With a little sigh, he jotted down notes again, and other things that were pure thoughts of his own, as though to capture the moment entire, and not just the information.

"Yes. Grounding magics are often linked with the note of A. As well as defensive magics. It's a very versatile note to sing in as it bolsters strengthening, defensive, ground, and augmenting magics." He tapped a technoring then, and smiled as his instrument appeared in his head - a lamellophone, "Now it's our turn."
Without even looking over at Argentum, the two of them spoke simulataneously, "The note F."
Argentum's voice rang out loud and clear, a pure but piercing sound that filled the area as he reached up with one arm, gaze focused on his hand. Slowly, Essence seemed to swirl about his hand and up his arms to the point where the whole limb held an aura. Aureus' arm, too, soon held the same halo of light and with a wink at the two boys, he reached over to Argentum and the Essence arched between them like a lightning bolt.
With a mischeivous look, Argentum rose (arm still glowing) and walked over to the boys. Still humming the note, the silver twin gently placed the hand on Zethyr's forehead first. A soothing, healing wave surrounded the zero as the note's effect kicked in. A moment later, Argentum did the same thing to Dariyn. It was invisible but the result easy to sense.
The note faded away and they both sort of sighed. They were still learning how to charge their limbs like that and while it was becoming easier, it stilll took a great deal of concentration to do. "Well?" Argentum asked hopefully, gazing at his impromptu pupils.

For a moment, Zethyr felt that he was overwhelmed, closing his eyes and trying to digest and understand what it was he was sensing now. There was a flow...a difference, as though suddenly he'd gained a different sense entirely, something that he hadn't honed before, and fingers flexed, as though itching to touch something...and for once, the slender melancholy was silent.
Dariyn's lips parted, and crimson eyes went wide, and there was a look of sheer delight on the little Empyrean's face. "It's like focusing...a heightened sense...higher consciousness of some kind?" Asking the questions on his own, looking intently at the twins with a smile that spoke of curiosity instead of the tentative questioning of before.

Argentum watched Zethyr with mild concern, biting his lower lip... at least until Dariyn spoke up and he nodded, looking over at the little Empyrean. His face lit up with pleasant surprise at the curiosity he found in the other's eyes and returned to his place beside his brother, who was also watching Zethyr. The boy was being awfully quiet...
"Yes~ In part. It tunes higher conciousness, chakras, and heightens energy manipulation so that one might be able to charge specific parts of the body with Essence for strengthened attacks or healing." He leaned against Aureus, who adjusted his position without a blink, "The effects don't last long and it takes quite a bit of concentration.
"The note B is good for all elemental based magics, and all basic spell types not covered by the other notes. And the rest... is your homework." Argentum replied, "There's three more notes, D, E, and G but you can take a look at those yourselves. As we said before, when you sing three notes right after one another you form a chord and the three chosen notes all work together to add a particularly potent buffer to your work. However, it is a difficult thing to perform and takes practice. First you must perfect the individual notes and then work at easily moving between them."
Aureus adjusted his instrument and held out in demonstration, "Moving on. This is a lemellophone, one of many instruments that also carry magical properties. This particular type is used to create a state of mind prone and ready for astral travel, fortune telling, prediction, prophecy and balance. We find it very useful in our work."
Argentum summoned his cherished flute and held it out as well. It was a beautiful and ornate piece, delicate where the lemellophone was more robust. Silvery and shiny, it almost seemed like a piece of treasure rather then a simple flute. "And this is a flute. It belongs to the family of Wind instruments. They affects the breathing and the lungs, have sedative influence and are perfect for enhancing meditative states. When chosen wisely, combining singing with instruments can bolster your spell casting greatly."
"The other types of instruments include Brass instruments, good for strength and stamina, percussion instruments that affect movement and co-ordination, string instruments that influence the intellect, electronic instruments that have the capacity to either energize and repair, or damage and short-circuit," Aureus paused, allowing time for the information to soak in. As he'd been writing, he'd been jotting down notes for the pair much like he'd drawn the diagram earlier, "Keyboard instruments which are perfect for training and splitting the consciousness of the mind, and last but not least friction instruments. They effect the subconscious mind and are especially used for hypnosis."

Zethyr slowly opened his eyes, tilting head to one side. That particular sensation, as fleeting as it had been, was one that somehow fascinated him, and he knew that he'd be doing some independent study on such subjects...higher consciousness and chakra, eh? Healing...quite fascinating.
He made particular note of the lemellophone, and glanced over to ensure that Dariyn was taking his own notes, as Zethyr would be going over them later. He'd ended up being more fascinated by this lesson than even he had originally guessed.
Dariyn was indeed taking his own notes furiously, glancing up at the twins every few seconds. If he could use these to enhance spells, then that would be most useful indeed, and he resolved to hunt down that little friend of Arron's...Emrys...since he knew that his interest was music, so that they might study together.

"Of course, there's a more technical side to Music as well. This, however, is the boring side of things so we won't dull your curiosity with a lecture about that. It is important, however, to fully understand the technical side before moving on to experimenting with the magical portion of music." Argentum shifted slightly, turning so that he and Aureus were side by side rather like bookends and frowned, becoming serious, "Dabbling in things you do not understand will get you hurt. We are more then willing to assist you in learning but if you get careless and hurt someone we will not help you any more." As prospective members of the Chorus, Aureus and Argentum knew well the laws of Empyrean City and both did not wish the law's wrath on these two.
Putting hand on Argentum's back Aureus smiled but nodded his agreement, "It is very important you not try things beyond the scope of your current skills. By all means, experiment but do so under supervision of at least a One, preferably a Two or Three. Practice control first and move from there." He laughed then, a rich, regal sound, "But make sure you are enjoying it!"
Argentum's soft smile had returned and he lifted his flute, "How about a demonstration of what we've been talking about to help put it all together?" It was clear the twins were enjoying this teaching session. It wasn't often they got to speak about the things that held their interest.

Zethyr nodded sagely, sincerely digesting what he was telling them. They had to be careful, and as much as it grated on his pride, he couldn't do things alone...not if they were uncertain. Experimentation could be a grand temptation for the slender Melancholy, and he wondered whom, beyond the twins, was eligible for such supervision...and thus he asked. "So who, other than yourselves and the teachers, can keep an eye on us if we wish to experiment?"
Dariyn looked a mite intimidated by the words of the twins, but he was quick to nod, the smile coming back to his face when they mentioned a demonstration. Why yes, he'd like that very much. This was an area that they had affirmed he could use in his particular interest...one that he'd chosen to study, in theory form, on his own. "Yes, please!" There was no little enthusiasm (for Dariyn) in the words.

"Who?" Argentum thought the question over a moment, "Any Stage Two Empyrean will be fine, especially if they've an interest in Music. Nehna herself is the best choice if you want to study with someone. We're almost always around the White District in the Infirmary if you want to talk to use. Beyond that, you've have to ask some of the others if they'd have the time to spare."
Aureus' smile widened greatly at Dairyn's enthusiam and he struck his lamellophone, the humming sound ringing out in a tone that could easily induce a trance. At that, Argentum nodded at Zethyr and moved about so the two of them could face one another. Lifting his flute to his lips, an answering call sounded out. Slowly, they played, eyes closed and complimented each other perfectly - timing and rhythms aligned just so to create a whimsical song.
All around, a feeling of balance and meditation arose. Coiling about the twins visible manifestation of their Essence could be seen like vapours curling out and fading away. Then Argentum's voice joined the hypnotic sounds of the lamellophone to stir up the feeling of peace from earlier. This time however, it was more powerful a resonating, restful sensation that curled about those present.
As the music stopped, Aureus' voice joined Argentum's and they smiled at each other as they sang an old lullaby. The silver twin singing mostly in the G-note and the golden one in E-note. A sense of vitality and creativity swirled up to join the calming influence of Argentum's tone. Then, almost as quickly as the song had started, first Argentum's voice faded back into the silvery notes of the flute only to be followed soon after by Aureus' instrument which then faded into silence.
With a satisfied sigh, they gazed at one another, waiting for the glow that has risen around them to settle and fade as well until there was really only a sense of peaceful, meditative sleep covering the aviary like a warm blanket.

Both zeroes watched, enraptured, and completely caught up in the moment, each finding that they wanted to shut their eyes...and Zethyr's head started to droop, finding it was easier to drift off with the song, than to remain awake and watching.
Dariyn, who only felt the soothing effects...and didn't truly feel as though he wanted to fall asleep, simply to sit and think for a very long time...to study, and this time he felt confident that it would be different, this examination of thoughts...and of himself. However, though his eyes were affixed on the twins, he became aware of his nodding classmate and nudged him gently with an elbow, which had the desired effect.
"That...was beautiful..." A hushed whisper, the little blunette not wanting to break the atmosphere that the two had created with their song.

Sealing their instruments away, they moved as one and shifted back together, one leaning against the other and each with a thoroughly satisfied look upon their faces. Bobbing their heads in thanks they remained there a moment, as though communicating without words but the stillness was broke soon enough as Aureus inhaled deeply and gestured for the two zeroes to come forward. They'd both noticed that Zethyr had almost dozed off and amused them both.
With warm smiled, they both slid to the ground where they sat cross-legged. Patting the ground before them, Argentum spoke, "Now that we've cleared the air so to speak, you want to learn that spell we promised? It's always best to calm down and balance before casting a ritual magic spell." Activating still other technoequips, Aureus produced a quartz dagger and Argentum a glass bowl, "We'll show you Ouroboros, alright? It's really a very simple spell and useful as it provides back up protection against any magical or essence attacks that may come your way. However, it's only a single charge at a time."
Aureus rose in the meantime and hurried back into the infirmary to retrieve the rest of the necessary supplies - neither of the twins normally carried such things unless they'd planned on casting that spell. Ritual objects like the the bowl and dagger, however, were staples and always carried with them. A few moments later, he returned with salt, fresh water, and a sprig each of mint and laurel. "With Ritual magic, you need to have certain supplies for the various spells. This one requires a quartz dagger, a glass or metal bowl, three pinches of salt, one sprig of mint, and one sprig of laurel. The fresher the supplies the better."
Sitting down once more, Aureus fluttered his wings and Argentum hooked an arm about the other's. They always cast spells together... had found that doing so apart didn't have nearly the same amount of power. They paused and waited for the two to settle themselves, "Which of you would like the spell cast first?"
