D's expression held no pity, but compassion, he didn't know any of this, hadn't even thought. When Doc glanced back at him, D was looking at his mate like he hadn't quite seen him before. D slid across the sheets to sit next to Doc, his legs hung off the bed, D brought his paws up one cupping the bassist cheek, the other ran the length of his nose and muzzle. It was crooked, broken multiple times. D bit at his lip, and then moved his paw so that both were on Doc's cheeks and he looked him in the eyes for a moment, and then leaned in for a gentle kiss, just touching, then he leaned back and let out a breath. "Ye're a little bit sweet."

Murdoc stared at his mate for a moment, his expression almost softening. Almost. He returned the kiss, and raised his paw to cup D's cheek back, then he snorted and shoved him down onto the bed. Not painfully, but enough to shove him away. "Dumbass, I'm not sweet." His voice wasn't bitter anymore, he was grinning and being more himself. Even though his word choices were harsh, D had helped.

Shoved back on the bed D let himself grin, but he stifled a giggle, he lifted his head to look at Murdoc, "Yea ye are, jus' a little bit, dunt worry though, I won't tell no one." His voice wasn't quite teasing, but it wasn't fully serious either, D could deal with the harshness of reality, even if he didn't want to all the time, if it was for Murdoc, he'd listen and do whatever he could.

The green toothed male smirked and leaned over to hover over 2D, staring down at him. His paws moved to grip his wrist's holding them down as he nipped at an earfin. "Better not. If you did, I'd have to kill you." He almost sounded serious that time... But he let go and rolled over to lay beside him, staring up at the ceiling.
His expression sobered slightly. "Sometimes I wonder, if I'll hurt Noodle like that some day." He paused, and didn't look at him, but it was obvious this was directed to him. "If I ever hurt her... like, seriously, promise me you'll take her away."

Closing his eyes at being nipped, D squirmed just a little, but his eyes came open at the words, even with how bad he's been beaten that awful night D didn't think that Murdoc would go that far in actually hurting someone, D thought him kidding, but that tone, was he serious, D shivered. Death wasn't something he thought on, Doc had said though that his mum had died... D started to ask, but then the dark male rolled away and D couldn't bring himself to ask after the next words to pass his lips. "Ye wouldn't," he forced a chuckle, "Not Noodle, she's like-" D bit his lip hard, he'd almost said, like a daughter, but somehow he didn't think that that would be right to say. D leaned up to look at Doc again, the shreds of light that made their way into the room, somehow gave enough illumination for him to see. "I know ye wouldn't, I can promise, 'f ye want me to, bot..." D tried hard to sound convincing.

He shook his head, then stared up at him, scowling slightly, glaring a bit at him. "I don't know what I could do, D. When I get angry... All I know is violence. There are still times I have to hold myself back from beating your face in. I'm not a good person." He stared him in the eyes for a moment more then looked away, eyes falling half closed. "Just promise me. And mean it."

"I-I mean it. Promise, I mean." Laying back and staring up with his eyes wide, he thought about Noodle, she'd be asleep in her room now, curled with her blanket, bright green eyes closed, hopefully having happy dreams. D tried to imagine a time or situation where she'd do something, and Murdoc would get mad, so mad that he's hurt her... He wouldn't let it happen, and if it did he'd take her, he knew he would have to, maybe to his parents, or maybe further away then that. He told himself he'd do it.
"I promise, bot more then that, ye wouldn't see either 'f us again, so dunt do it. 'F ye have ta hit sumone, do it t'me." D rolled away, facing the other direction, his own voice had been hard with the promise, but it softened, "I dunt wanna be hit either, but there are worse things." it had dropped to a whisper.

"D..." Murdoc frowned and glanced at him as he turned away, then sighed heavily. "I can't promise that I won't hit you again. You know that... You know what I am." He turned then and wrapped his arms around D's waist, holding him tightly. "I promise I'll try. But that's it. I'll try to never hurt you. Not like that..." He rested his chin against the back of D's head and nuzzled him slowly, then moved to the side to lick his horn.

"I know, I know." D voice was still just whispered, without reluctance. Having closed his eyes when he rolled away, they came open again, though there wasn't much to see in the dark room, when he felt Doc's arms go around him. D moved one paw to touch Murdoc's, threading their long fingers together, his other arms was pillowed under his head. "Tha's enough." D let himself be held and nuzzled for an extended moment before rolling over within the embrace and shutting his eyes again.

Doc nodded and just held him for awhile, his claws running through the fur on his stomach. He was content like that, but it was better when he turned. He hugged him closer and nuzzled his forehead instead. He'd grown more affectionate since they'd mated... He didn't seem as afraid or defensive. Of course they never lasted too long, but for now Murdoc was content.

D was still and quiet for a long time, he was comforted and content to just be hold, he might have fallen back asleep but for that his mind was working. Running questions though his head, until one slipped out, voice still lisping and soft. "Wot was it, tha I done, tha made you mad then?"

Doc was quiet for a moment, pondering, would he answer... WAS there even really an answer... "What, the other day? Or..." When he had slapped him... Or that day... well, it was really the same answer anyway. "I don't know." He grunted, then closed his eyes and huffed, then was silent for awhile. "...I can't deal with intense emotions well, it all comes out as anger. When... I was... eh, ya know. My feelings... I couldn't deal or understand them. I guess. I just... never... cared... before..." His voice grew rougher and quieter. "I was afraid of you. How you made me feel."

D didn't think he'd get an answer, he nodded, simple understanding, D could grasp that, not knowing. During the bit more of quiet he settled more, letting the questions fall away, then he was listening again, and then understanding, letting out shaking breaths. It made him want to cry, but tears didn't fall, he hid them as best he could. With D everything was either hazy or intense, until it overflowed, but for it to all be anger, it was sad, sad for himself, sad for Murdoc, but he kept that sadness to himself. "It's jus me though, ye know." His voice was muffled into Murdoc's chest.

Doc rubbed his back, frowning when his answer seemed to upset D. He hated it when D got all sniffly. Not only was it annoying... He couldn't help but feel slightly guilty. "Hush, come on. It's ok. I reckon I'll get used to it and all, ya know? I mean, if you really can put up with me. I'll get used to having you around." He paused, then tensed slightly, frowning. "Ya know, D, I uhh..." He cleared his throat and opened his mouth, but he just couldn't bring himself to say it. "You know, I... Well, you know." He looked away and scowled deeper, hoping that D would understand without him having to say it. "I don't... dislike you."

D wasn't quite to the point of sniffly but he was comforted anyway, he kept his sadness to himself and buried it, Murdoc wouldn't want to be pitied. D wrapped his arms tighter around, nodding and murmuring his agreement, not quite ready to trust his voice. When Doc began stumbling with his words, D leaned his head up to look, though that'd probably make anything he wanted to say harder. Blinking a few times and then getting it when Murdoc looked away, D leaned his head back in and curled against Doc's neck "I know." He whispered very softly against his earfin, "bot is nice to hear it sometimes."
