Ryushikaze Twindream Tifa Fenrir I think that Cloud has always seen Tifa as his soulmate, but not through lust and appearance, as most people like to think. Maybe it was because of her personality?
That's my guess <3 Cloud never looked at her in a lustful manner. He had always admired her for her strength and values her support a lot. Of course, as a man he is entitled to scan her a bit here and there but he has always been in control of his feelings, faintly revealing them as he is weak-hearted. As a child even, he admired Tifa from afar. Sure she was a little pretty girl back then, but she had an upbeat attitude that drew the local boys to her, including Cloud.
Which is not to say it's only lust, not in the slightest, just that yes, lust is involved.
Tifa: Did you sleep well?
Cloud: Next to you, who wouldn't?
Remember how Cloud willingly rubbed lotion on that girl a bikini?
Took Tifa's therapudic underwear?
Yeah, Cloud's totally lustful.

*Coughs* Good point. xd I completely forgot about that quote. I was more used to the innocent Cloud after playing CC, lol.

I think they did a fantastic job showing how different the real Cloud is. It's interesting to see the three personalities. CC Cloud, beginning of FFVII Cloud, and then end of FFVII Cloud. The greatest part about it is when he regains himself, his personality is still slightly affected, but it's because of experience now, instead of the influence of Jenova/Zack.

I completely agree. Encountering Cloud first in CC was like meeting a whole new person who is unexpectedly pathetic. (I underestimated his pathetic-ness.....I knew he was going to be pitiful, but not THAT pitiful. xd )

Exactly. SE wanted to lay on the personality switch, which is fantastic. Anyone playing FFVII, and then CC (which is the order I'd recommend playing them in) will see the huge difference, and understand his mental problems in FFVII even more.
