Anableps anableps is the latin name. I believe the common name is four-eyed fish. They're brackish livebearers whose eyes are horizontally divided into two portions: one half can see above water to look for prey, the other half can see below water.

I know. n_n

I've always wanted to keep anableps, but I don't have room. They get big, about a foot long.

Have you ever done a brackish tank? If not, you should definately try it. There are fewer options than with fresh or marine, but most of the species are really, really cool.

A foot?
Wow, that's much bigger then I thought.
Weren't they vaguely related to guppies?

Hmm, I'd try, but they don't sell brackish water fish where I live.
Only Fresh.
The people who keep salties generally catch them themselves from the ocean.

Maybe i'll try it someday when i live on my own and have the budget...somewhere in the next 5 to 10 years hopefully sweatdrop

There are some places online that sell brackish fish... but I'm sure the shipping is expensive.

I'm holding off on a reef tank until I'm off on my own, too. I'm sure my parents would hate me forever if I insisted on getting one now. So expensive... so beautiful... *sigh*

Hmm, I'd rather not buy a fish online.
I prefer handpicking fish.
I've gotten on the nerves of quite a few pet store helpers because they couldn't catch the fish I wanted. sweatdrop

I traded in the scat for another female mollie yesterday. She's a different strain than my other mollies, it's called Sunset Burst or something to that effect. Whatever it is, it sounds like some kind of smoothie. xp

She seems to be doing well, and has been accepted by my other mollies.

She looks like this, but less opaque:
