"... And Father wasn't happy about that?" Something about that seemed confusing and a bit not right. Their father had seemed overjoyed when she had come back as a foal, telling him stories about the other foals that she'd met... Even if he may have thought that she was making them up. "What's so wrong with meeting someone, Mother?"

"Your father ... had a family before he met me." She hadn't ever told any of the foals what Draven had told her but they couldn't keep it from them forever. "He had a mate and others to care for. They were ... killed. A fire, something he couldn't stop."
She didn't like thinking about what had been taken from Draven before. He was far too kind for something like that to have happened to him. "The one Atae met ... his hooves were alight, something to do with a breed i've never met i'm sure."

She had known that there was a reason for her father's dislike of fire... Just as she had known that there was a reason why he warned them to be careful of it. She had not, on the other hand, known that her father had been involved with anyone other than her mother.
"Oh my..." Her brow furrowed slightly as she thought on that for a moment. "But... Atae knows better than to put herself in any sort of danger. We all do, Mother. Could someone like that really be bad?"

"She does. I trust all of you to know when to get yourselves out of a situation." She nudged her daughter's nose lightly with her own. "You father worries though. Fire is not something he takes lightly. Giving up his little girl not only to another stallion but to a fiery one?"

"... But Father isn't giving her up. She's just made a friend." Her nose wrinkled. "He shouldn't worry. Atae'Seirei is smart enough to keep herself out of trouble... We've had good teachers."

"It's a father thing." Even if it was just a friend Draven wouldn't like the idea. It would have been the same if any of the children had come across the fire one.
"He worries more than he should and he is very protective of all of you. He could not bear to loose his family again"

"Father shouldn't worry." She said softly after a moment of silence. "He won't lose us... We'll always be here. Do you think... Do you think that, maybe, we should tell him that?"

"I have told him that before, many times, it is just not as easy for him to understand." It wasn't when things had been taken from you before.

"Then maybe Atae will have to tell them... I don't want to see either of them hurt." Her nose wrinkled as she shook her head. It would be hard to have a friend that you weren't allowed to see... Or to be afraid that the friend your child had would somehow harm them.

"I've tried to let all of you make your own choices so far now that you're grown. I won't stop her from seeing him but yes, she will have to deal with her father eventually."
She had no fears that Atae could make Draven understand. He had always doted on their little daughter.
