Mine would have to be the trumpets. Because they wish they were as cool as the altos, but they aren't. They toooootally aren't. But, I must say, there are some fine-looking guys in the trumpet section. heart
If you asked anyone else in the band, though, they'd probably tell you the altos are the worst. We're cocky, loud, obnoxious, and (to quote our section leaders), our goal is to "piss off as many people as we possibly can" during marching season. Of course, they're just jealous that their instruments aren't as sexy as ours, and they wish they had amazing section cheers.

WHO VOTED FOR TROMBONES!!!!!! scream scream scream
*ahem*
my vote is for trumpets, not because of their personality (though they do get pretty annoying, but you get that in every section) but because the sound is so tinny and peircing. no matter WHAT band i listen to, there is always AT LEAST one trumpet who is sticking out stupidly in the sound texture and ruins the bassness of the song (and woodwindness... i GUESS...) most of the time, they aren't even good enough to be that obnoxiously loud... stressed

Discord Symphony What did little Johnny's mother tell him when he said "I want to be a trumpet player when I grow up?" "But Johnny, you can't do both."
Trumpets are arrogant, immature bastards that don't have the skills to be decent boyfriends and think that just b/c they can play a high C, they're all that.
yup

Meroke7674 The Flute/Piccolo section has always been my least favorite, even beating out Percussion. At my high school, the majority of them (there were a few exceptions) were superficial, stuck up, and flirtatious girls. They just really annoyed me. i agree with this to some of the flutes i know/knew, but not all

Ugh, that's what I hate about many flutists. -.- But unfortunately, I play the flute, so I can't really hate them....
What's to hate about percussionists, though? The percussionists are the people who make the band have "feeling"...the cymbal crashes, timpani, bells, all that good stuff, you know?
Actually, I find all of the parts important to a band. Everything has its own important part, but if must, I don't really like the saxophones. Hear me out, saxophones, before you chuck your dirty cleaning cloth (do you guys use that?) at me! In a "normal", professional band, you don't find saxophones, and when you do, it's mostly jazz and all that. Bad saxophone players have that yucky, "sucking" noises when they try to play piano in pieces (I've the unfortunate luck to sit right in front of a tenor and baritone saxophone).
And the baritone saxophone, I don't care if you're hella good, you suck. scream I doesn't like you. The concert band bari sax is cooler than you. Rawr.

percussion sucks. they are all stuck up and everything. nobody likes them. one of them thinks she so good that she doesnt have to show up to pratice. and teh bd lets her. She gets to do everything. its not fair.

i play in two different bands. in the first one i hate the percussionists because they're so uncoordinated and can't figure out where to come in after just like 3 bars of rest. they can't even play straight sixteenth notes! and in the second band i hate the trumpets because they're always blasting the notes and missing everything. it's very annoying.

U forgot Strings...oh i hate strings so much cuz they think they are better than everyone else..im in a class with all strings..oh i get so frustrated because (there is only one acception to this) either they forget their instrument, forget their pick, are not on beat, dont know how to count, write notes upside down, forget their book, or even they will be sick with a breathing problem and nothing else and wont play...but when Woodwinds/brass get sick with breathing problems they still play..strings irritate the heck out of me...

nikegirl022092 my least favorite section is the saxophones cause my band director favors them too much. im a saxophone so i can only speak from expirence from my director but the section he favors the trombones (because thats the instrument he plays) and he doesnt pay any attention to us so i think i know how you feel just with a differnet section

I don't liek one of our trumpet players. {I also play the trumpet}
Otherwise, I really don't liek our clarinets. Most of them are jerks who go into my favourite stores just to make fun of the awesome clerks!

Rawr. now i understand what you are saying but im a saxophone and so far the only tenor in my class..now i understand what you are getting at when you say that we get the sucking noise when we try to play piano sometimes but that all depends on the saxophonist..it is thier decission if they clean, take care of thier instrument, and practice..me i do all of that so im one of the best sounding saxophones my BD has ever heard..but if a saxophonist cleans, takes care of their sax, and practices they will sound really good..in fact as of right now all i am practicing is my piano because i want to sound good when i do play piano..so basically its not the instrument its the person playing it..so please dont hate the section hate the person playing in the section..

To those of you pointing out the faults in the trumpets... you seem to be referring to the male trumpets most of the time. So everyone hates the trumpets because of the men in the section? Give some credit to the girls who have to put up with that everyday at a close range. ;]
The percussionists in my band drive me so nuts. They always goof off, then try to act all innocent when they don't come in when they're supposed to. Maybe if they just paid attention... =/

the trumpets are the biggest pains ever! The director always has to stop class to get them in line. Often one of them has to sit outside. Its like babysitting 3 year olds
