Rolling his eyes at the mimicry, he found himself once again looking Moira up and down at her question. His lips twitched into their ever present smirk as he shrugged, "She's a beautiful lass, to be sure. As for her looks...well now, wouldn't be right if I gave the secret away. Might scare her off once more, should I ever find her, after all."
Actually gaping as Moira waved the thin book about and teased him about never being caught reading, he raised an eyebrow in her direction. Surprised at how playful she was, but not exactly disliking it. "And just how do you think I write music, if I don't read then?" Truth be told, he actually didn't read all that often, but a man had to fight back somehow. Didn't he? Smiling at the pose she struck, he couldn't help himself as he thought that she really was a bonnie lass.
Eyes growing ever wider as she latched onto his hands and made the attempt to pull him up, Shane felt all his resistance melt away as he gazed into her olive eyes. Reluctantly rising to a standing position, he rolled his eyes and pretended to be huffy, "And just where might we look first for her?" Easing himself next to her, he wondered how she'd react if he were to slide his arm 'round her waist. Doing his best not to imagine how nice it would feel to have her up against his side, as he pretended to look around the library as though he were actually hunting for something.

She actually froze, anticipating Shane to do something, anything, and she'd make a move... But he didn't. And just a little, her shoulders slumped.
But she didn't let him see. Ohhh no. Grinning again, she began to tug him towards one set of rows to look in. "Well, if you can't tell me what she looks like, we'll just have to use your brilliant eyes to find her." She looked back, smiling at him. "Think you can do that, Hound dog?" She asked, smirking coyly at him again.
"We should start in the Fantasy book section. Because... Muses would hide there." She nodded sagely. "Logically speaking." Never mind they were talking about a non-existant figure. Mind made up, she held onto Shane's hands, both of them, and began leading him to the aisles of fantasy books she'd been roaming before, when she stumbled onto Alice in Wonderland.
It took all her willpower to remember what they were doing as she led him through the aisles, slowing once they'd gotten to the designated section. "I bet muses feel at home here." She looked around, eyes positively alight. "With all these fairy tales, who wouldn't?" She asked, more to herself than to Shane.
It was like she was a child again, being with so many books. But, she didn't forget the man whose hands she held in hers, and she looked up at him, grinning. "Do you see her yet?" She asked, whispering dramatically up at him. So they didn't scare her off, of course!

Smiling at how at home the lass seemed around these books, Shane wondered just how much of a book worm she'd been back home. A bit of surprise touched his face as Moira pulled him along, not letting go of his hands. He had expected she'd drop them, and that she hadn't, gave him hope. Wondering how long he should let the game go on, before either feigning disappointment at the muse's not being around - or just tell Moira what he'd been hinting at.
Nodding in agreement as she told him where a muse would be hiding logically, an amused smile touched his lips. He found himself wishing they weren't just playing this child game, but not entirely certain of what her feelings were on the matter. Catching sight of her eyes when she finally turned 'round as they arrived at the fantasy section, Shane felt like his heart would explode. Seeing her so happy, even if it was amongst books, was enough to make Shane grin. Chuckling as she whispered to him, he realized he knew exactly where his muse was.
Lost in a sea of olive, Shane tightened his grip on Moi's hands before pulling her to him. Letting go of her hands only to wrap his arms around her, he whispered in his lilting voice, "Aye, lass, I see my muse."

Moira had been preparing herself to whisk him away to another aisle in search of this muse. She'd been prepared for him to look around dramatically, and then declare that nope, the elusive muse was not here. What she hadn't been prepared for was exactly what he'd done.
She blinked when she realized she was being pulled back into his arms, and melted against him, eyes closing. And much like in a cartoon, it was like being home again in all the good ways. He made her think of home. She grinned a little, and had it in her enough to turn to face him. Her arms moved up to drape around him, utterly content like this.
Home, huh? was followed closely by That was such a corny line., and neither thought made that cat-ate-the-canary grin go away. "So I think it's safe to say," She muttered, just loud enough for him to hear because if she spoke any louder, it might ruin this amazing moment in time, "that your muse is a stone-cold fox."
She just couldn't help herself sometimes.

Smiling as the lass seemed to melt into him, Shane was pleased that he hadn't made the wrong move. Up until this particular point in time, he hadn't been sure that their game hadn't been just that - a game. To be honest, he still couldn't be sure. After all, Moira seemed to be a friendly lass, who's to say she wouldn't hug her friends and grin at the act?
Happy as she finally turned around to face him, he felt like it was one of the slowest turns he'd ever seen a woman make in his life. Granted, it wasn't a particularly long life, and he felt like he might have been exaggerating his thoughts just a little. His heart beat a little bit faster as her arms encompassed him. It might not hurt to give her a kiss. Just a small peck. On the cheek, of course. If she were just being friendly, it wouldn't to do be too forward. Lost in the thoughts of how sweet he was sure a brief touch of his lips to hers might be, he almost missed the grin on her face - and the comment that soon followed.
Head dropping so that his chin rested on his chest, Shane shook his head, a small smile apparent on his face. Chuckling, he brought one hand from her side to rub the back of his neck. Glancing at her sheepishly through his raven bangs, he muttered, "Lass, you sure know how to spoil a moment!" Unable to help himself, he laughed, "And just what might this stone-cold fox be, then?"
Though one hand remained on her side, he wasn't so sure that hugging her had been the right course of action, and so let his other hand rest on the back of his neck. Uncertainty filling his eyes, as he wondered just what he ought to do now.
Well, boyo, now that you've gone and wasted your chance, just what do you think you'll do?
And for once, Shane didn't really have an answer for himself.

The comment hadn't escaped her ears, and her grin widened. "I have to be good at somethin', don't I?" She asked, feigning pure innocence. Moira smirked, and rolled her eyes at him. "If I have to tell you what this stone-cold fox might be, Shane, it'd ruin all the fun in our game." She said, smiling.
Despite the lightness and smiling in the situation, the uncertainty in his eyes didn't go unnoticed, either. And now, Shane wasn't the only one wondering what should be done.
Just take a deep breath and--
If you do it you'll likely shove him right away and ruin any--
He's gone this far, hasn't he? Just do it!
The conflicting sides weren't helping, and Moira bit the inside of her cheek, watching his eyes. Would it be worth undoing everything if it didn't go as planned? Was the reward able to totally outweigh the risk of it? Moira didn't know, and she watched his eyes. This was the moment! This was it, she was going to do it and pray to God it didn't backfire on her!
... So why was she frozen like a statue, staring up at him?

Noting the grin on her face, and the acting, Shane wondered if she really was just playing with him. A frown and disappointment briefly rolled across his face before the playful Irishman threw on a grin of his own. Removing his remaining hand from Moira's side, he crossed his arms as neatly in front of his chest as he might with her standing near to him. Putting on a huffy air, he stuck his nose up in the air with a pout. If the lass wanted to play, Shane could play. He could most certainly play.
Attempting to distract himself from how he was missing holding her in his arms, or the alluring eye contact, he tried to focus on the game. Cat and mouse. A familiar childhood game he hadn't quite thought could apply to the situation at hand. But cat and mouse it was. The only question remaining was - who was the cat, and who was the mouse? Unable to keep himself from watching her out of the corner of his eye, he wondered just how long he could feign disinterest.
"Bah, and what if I want you to tell me?" Grinning, though he hadn't meant to, he finally turned his face back to hers, "What would I have to do for that bit of knowledge?" Still trying to maintain his pose of huffiness, Shane hoped she didn't pout. A woman's pout was a deadly weapon, in his eyes.

Moira was almost exasperated and impatient enough to not play along. To just outright jump him. However... She was not going to turn into Liam. Ohhhh no. Instead, our little Moira bit back the little twinge of disappointment when he let go of her, and stepped back, crossing her arms in mimicry of Shane's current stance. Her whole body seemed to take on an entirely new demeanor to... 'fit in'. She took on a mock-serious air, as if they were discussing the whereabouts of some top-secret hush-hush information on the world's biggest diamond mine, or some such thing.
If he wanted to play ball, she'd play ball. She leaned forward, and the tiniest of pouts appeared. "What would you be willing to do." She asked, eyes dancing with a wicked gleam all over again. Moira uncrossed her arms, and moved closer to him, leaning up and grinning impishly at him. "The information I've got isn't going to come cheap, Shane." She smirked, and leaned back again, arms crossing.
Alllllll business.
... Yeah, right.

Watching as Moira played along, Shane kicked himself mentally. That wasn't the reaction he'd hoped for, and eying the way it looked like her lower lip seemed to be sticking out just a little farther than normal, Shane had an inkling he'd likely lose this round. The lass was good, he had to give her that.
Congratulations, Shane m'boy, you've ruined a golden opportunity for the sake of uncertainty.
Pretending to think it over as she asked what he'd be willing to do, he gave a dramatic shrug as he tapped his chin. Now, how to turn this back on her? Until he knew for certain...he didn't plan on making any obvious moves. Grinning devilishly, he finally quipped, "That depends, lass." Leaning in close and cupping her chin lightly in his hand, he added, "What might you desire for this top secret information?"
Chuckling at how they went from one imaginary creature to another in this game of their's, he eased his hand from her chin. But not quite breaking eye contact, or moving himself back to give the girl some room to breathe. Now just to hope he hadn't stuck his proverbial foot in his mouth - or walked himself into a trap.
...Not that he was sure he'd mind walking into a trap set by this beautiful devil standing before him. The closer he stood, the less certain he became. And, oh, the temptation to just kiss he and lose the game already!

He was so close, and her mind just... clouded over again. Again! She closed her eyes when he'd leaned in, that wide grin of hers not dying for a second, and then... he'd let go. She opened her eyes slowly, and watched him. It would be so easy, too, to just lean in and lose the game. Just give in, that's all it'd take. One little kiss, however innocent, and she could play off a kiss, now couldn't she! She was good at playing off everything else, why should a simple little kiss be so hard?
A little more breathily than she'd hoped, her eyes half-closed, she answered him as coolly as she could muster in such proximity: "Shane, you have no idea." She muttered, watching him. And ladies and gentlemen... Declare this young lady the loser of this peculiar game of cat and mouse. She leaned forward, closing the distance between the two of them, and kissed him as lightly as she could get away with.
Self control, auto-vaffunculo-controllo. Self control was about the only thing that stopped the little spitfire from all-out jumping him.
Okay, so maybe... she might be a little more like her father than she liked to think about. Curse her Papa and his apparently-genetic-lack of libido control.

Raising an eyebrow at her comment, he smirked at her. He just might have an idea. Or at least, what she might threaten to want. Preparing to add another quip to this game, he was caught eyes wide open as she gave him a peck on the lips. That was entirely unexpected. And put a whole new spin on that game they'd been playing. Wanting to shout for victory - both at winning the game, and at having not made a fool of himself, Shane instead fought for control over himself.
Wouldn't be right to shout in glee. Or grin like a madman. ...Or grab her and kiss her longer. The kiss had been so short. Too short, in his mind. Just a tiny taste like that wasn't fair play at all. Locking eyes with Moi, he chuckled in that low, throaty manner, "I think, lass, I do have an idea." Unable to resist throwing a pout in, he quietly muttered, "That wasn't fair play." Grinning playfully as he moved to wrap his arms around her in a hug, he added, "You broke the rules of the game, Moi, my lass."
Granted, he almost had broken them himself by nearly throwing the towel in earlier. But, still, a man couldn't resist an opportunity to tease should it present itself. Regardless of how awful his timing might be. Besides, she'd made her own playful comment at the wrong time earlier. Turn about was fair play, now wasn't it?

Moira grinned a little, and the tiniest of giggles bubbled past her lips when he'd said that he had an idea. "'Bout time." She muttered impishly, leaning into him in the hug. "I think you can forgive a little rule-breaking, all things considered." She looked up, batting her eyes at him dramatically. "I mean, I would think that little peck was incentive enough to forgive me for throwing in the towel."
Moira closed her eyes, and leaned against Shane, completely at ease against him. Her arms came up around him again, and she just stood with him. After a minute of nothing but silence, she glanced up, smiling a little. "So, d'you hear any music yet?" She asked, the tiniest little grin tugging its way past her smile.

Raising an eyebrow at the giggling and impish behavior, Shane wondered just what was going through the woman's mind. Had he missed something that he shouldn't have, or was it just one of those 'girl things'? Shrugging a little as she leaned into the hug, he rolled his eyes. If the woman was going to be insufferable because she'd given him such a small hint of a kiss...
Grumbling a little at the persistent teasing, he chuckled, "Perhaps, lass. Though, I do think a bit more than a faint hint of a peck on the lips would be truly necessary to be forgiven." Adding on a superior tone at the last, his ever ready smirk returned to his face. She was close enough, he could just take that long, sweet kiss he was suddenly craving. Now that he knew she wouldn't run away, it wouldn't be so hard.
Giving that deep throated laugh, he smiled as he leaned a little closer as she brought up the music. Now that she mentioned it - he didn't. But he had a feeling that his inspiration was going to be coming back. And soon. His heart was filling up with happiness so fast he was amazed he hadn't realized sooner that the big reason he'd hidden in his room was the lass' disappearance.
Shaking his head slightly as he kissed her forehead, he sighed, "Nay, lass. Not yet. But I've a feelin' my muse will fill my papers tonight."
Was it him, or did he just keep getting lamer and lamer? Ah, she had him so distracted. Giving him just that little taste hadn't been right of her, not in the least.

"Oh, do y'now?" Moira leaned her upper half back, and arched an eyebrow at him. "What do you think is 'truly necessary' for forgiveness?" She asked, amused. "Something a little longer?" Moira tilted her head, and then smirked, leaning back into him again.
Moira nodded to him, smiling. "Good." She muttered, looking back up at him and grinning. "Nothing like insomnia caused by persistent musing, huh?" Moira glanced back towards where they came from, and immediately, she felt... sort of guilty. She really couldn't tease him about staying up all night writing music if she was going to end up staying up all night reading a story.
Especially if it was one she'd read a million and one times before, too. But now was not the time to be thinking of such things. No no no no no.

His smirk returning to his lips with ease, Shane chuckled as the girl teased him some more. Pretending to think the inquiry over, he did a lot of "hmm"ing before finally giving a shrug. With a twinkle in his eye, and a hint of a grin on his face, he finally teased, "Oh, I don't know, lass. It might help in the matter, to be certain." Really, there was nothing to be forgiven, but if he could coax a little more out of her than that peck...Well. No harm in trying, now was there?
Smiling as he followed her gaze to the chairs they'd been sitting in moments before, Shane gave a playful grin. "Aye, lass. Or a good book, I imagine?" Staring down at her, though, cuddled up to him as if that's where she belonged, Shane wondered if he'd even manage to leave her side long enough to write anything. Glancing at the chairs, though, he imagined that he wouldn't really have to leave. He could just sit there in that chair, she could sit in her chair...
Returning his gaze to the girl in his arms, he reflected that perhaps that wouldn't work either. Somehow, he had a feeling not much work would be done amidst this game they played. Especially not with how perfect she felt held in his arms.
