Topic revival:

How about we discuss how the immortal saga of Castlevania hasn't seen a great kind of innovation lately? I read a while back this commentary from a writer at a gaming mag called Club Nintendo about how the saga was getting to be a bit stale. Why? Cuz it seems that without the stupendous music, great game play and slightly different things, it's pretty much the same thing every time. He also said that it would seem that Dracula doesn't learn his lesson cuz he gets defeated time and time again by not just the Belmonts but, the Fernandez, the Scheneiders, etc. He said that Dracula should hang a sign that reads: "Here lies Dracula; please do not revive." Ha-ha! rofl

Do you agree with this guy or what?

I, for one, don't fully agree cuz, no matter how similar a CV game may be, it's not always the same dam castle or the same music or even the exact same stuff all the time. For some reason, I can't get enough of the saga even though we never see many innovations. I think that some of the latest games have had some neat things like the sorrow games with the souls and, the fact that Dracula wasn't the ultimate evil as usual.

As much as I love the CV series, story-wise, I'd have to agree. There was a limit set on Dracula's revival of every 100 years. But since the series has become so popular, now the CV team is digging around for Belmonts to throw at us that were never meant to fight. Frankly, I'd love to learn more about Julius and what his journey was like. Or, if they're really that eager for material, they can go back and do something with Christopher and Soleiyu Belmont from Castlevania Adventure & Castlevania: Belmont's Revenge for the Gameboy. Or better yet...

HEY KONAMI! THERE'S AN ENTIRE TREVOR BELMONT OVER HERE!! HOW'S ABOUT HE GET HIS MOMENT IN THE SPOT LIGHT!! CASTLEVANIA 3 REMAKE! HELLOOO~~!

Sorry. I had to get that out of my system. But seriously, they touched on Trevor and the crew, but they only had him as a cameo in two games. In one of them it wasn't even the real thing!

Oh and I think they should remake Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest. They could easily do that one in Metroid-style since it basically already is. I think tons of people would play both games.

Cool! Thanks for yer reply Adrian. I agree on what you said and it's too bad the Konami team that makes CV doesn't hang around here or they could really know what to change or do for their next projects.

At the CV guild where I'm in (D-mistress is also in there), we're discussing which games would be better for remaking and so far, those two you mentioned have gotten the most votes (CV2 & 3 for the NES). 3nodding

Oh, it's no problem at all. I kinda needed to vent a little bit about where Castlevania is going. Or, in this case, NOT going anywhere. I also feel that Castlevania Judgment was a terrible idea...

I personally feel that of the CVs before SotN that are the strongest and have the most potential for remakes are CV2, 3 & Super CV4 for the SNES. They were all perfectly unique and could do well.

1)
CV2 has its almost Metroid-style game play by being an Action/Platformer/RPG.

2)
CV3 has the multiple characters choices of Grant, Sypha and Alucard. They can even do multiple endings and expand on the character's stories!

3)
CV4 could benefit from a Dracula X Chronicles-style remake. I know I'd love to see that wicked rotating room updated. twisted

I guess it's not just you. That guy from Club Nintendo Mag said pretty much the same things about, not only CV but, a few other sagas as well.
A friend of mine who used to live around here, said almost the exact same thing about CV Judgment. I have no problems about a CV being a fighting game but, the style of the characters is just no good for me. I'm definitely not getting that one! Not even if I miss out on the connectivity stuff. Too bad they didn't make it so you could connect to someone playing his/her judgment version online.

I don't know about anyone else but, I'd like to see SotN remade for PS3 or alike just as long as they made it in a similar way as they did CoD. CoD is one of my favorite 3D CV games so far. 3nodding

I also agree with you on all those points.

BTW, I'll send you an invite to the guild where D-mistress, queen and I are in.
