Luck, to me, is something unreal.
I am not a superstitious person. I don't mind a black cat running pass in front of me, I don't mind walking underneath a ladder. If I ever find a 4 leaf clover, I believe it's only fate playing it's game here and it was destined to be found by me. Even until right now, I still believe that luck had nothing to do with what happened today.
It was a delightful day, when I had found a rare book about dragon studies in a bookstore near my lab. I had always been a fan of legendary creatures and dark arts, and I have an elaborated collection of books about them. Their numbers are far larger than my science related books I assure you, my science knowledge is a talent you see? I do not need to read a lot of science books in order to succeed in my experiments. Knowing the basics are enough.
Anyway, as I only bought minimal cash with me today, I ended up with only 620 gold left. 620 gaian currency isn't very much you see, they're only enough to get a semi-decent hair cut and probably some cheap tattered clothes or a second hand hockey mask.
As I was walking down a busy street I saw a bunch of people crowded outside this... japanese looking garden. There was a stall set outside the zen-styled house selling tickets for a lucky draw of some sort. The price was 500 gold. Making up my decision on a whim, I bought a ticket just for fun, never in my slightest idea that I would win.
But right now, as I sat writing this journal on my desk, the lantern I won from that lucky draw sits on a table beside me, with moonlights shining in on it from a small round window above it. I have no idea really, what is so interesting about the lantern? It does have a pretty blue glow floating around it though. I guess I'll only have to be patient and observe it more closely, maybe I could find some interesting facts about the lantern.
What was that shop's name I got this from again..? I think it's called... Anima??

Could you imagine how shocked Kyou was, when he woke up from a loud thud one mid-afternoon to find the lantern he placed on the table below the round window, laying on the floor beside the table?? The door to his sleeping quarters still laying open a little. He quickly shot towards the lantern and carefully picked it up, examining closely to see if there were any cracks or whether the lantern was broken. Thankfully, it was still in one piece. Phew...
Kyou's hammock is a few feet away from the lantern, so unless Kyou have super long arms or abnormally long legs, it's rather impossible for him to hit the lantern when he's asleep. What more open the door from the other side of the room. His lab's front doors was locked with his handprint, that means it's highly unlikely for some stranger or burglar to enter his room as well. So that means there's only one person in the lab that could've done this.
"Lazarus!!!" Kyou growled, eyebrows furrowed and still holding the lantern in his hand, he dashed out of his sleeping quarters to look for the rebellious fire raevan. He walked across his research lab and into the living room, where Lazarus is attempting to hide himself under a small table. "Come out here Lazarus!!" Kyou demanded, standing straight and seemed to be towering over the floating raevan. Reluctantly, Lazarus floated out from his pathetic hiding place and with his head bowed.
"What were you doing in my room?" Kyou asked, speaking like a detective interrogating his suspects.
"I was just... just curious about the lantern..." Lazarus said, head still bowed.
"But there's no need to knock the lantern over isn't it?? What if you broke the lantern?? What if you woke me up in the middle of the day when I've just slept since this morning at 8am??! I do not appreciate the fact that you do not appreciate my precious sleeping time..." Kyou said.
"B.. but I..." Lazarus stuttered and paused for a moment, obviously he felt guilty about the lantern, but at the same time he doesn't like Kyou bossing him around either. So he thought twice before he make his apology. After a short moment, he puffed up his chest and folded his arms in front of him, acting all adult-like. "Hmph, I don't care about your sleeping time, and I don't care what happens to your lantern either!! Besides, it's just a lantern, there's nothing special about it!!"
"Lazarus!! You...!!!" Kyou was about to burst, but he thought twice about it. "Sure, fine!! But you're grounded for an entire week and you can't go out to see Sevvie, understand??"
Lazarus sunk at that instance. Stuck in this lab, FOR A WEEK!!!! Now he wished he didn't said what he said just a few moments ago... that's what you get for not thinking twice before you say something! "Sigh, I guess it's another week of Tv watching and book reading then..." Lazarus thought sadly and floated off to the TV remote control and on the television, switching between several channels.
Kyou took the lantern and went back into his sleeping quarters, placing it back on it's original position and went back to sleep. He desperately needed them as he was so engaged with his other research the night before, that he had forgotten the time. Furthermore, that research requires quite an amount of energy too. After a few minutes, soft snores could be heard emitting out from Kyou's hammock.
Quietly, Lazarus opened the door and peeked into the room. He made sure the coast was clear and that Kyou is finally asleep again. He floated silently towards the lantern and touched the smooth wooden surface of the lantern carefully, caressing and admiring it's perfect wooden structure, while running a finger over a small splinter at the foot of the lantern where it had hit the floor and chipped a little. "I'm sorry..." Lazarus whispered to the lantern. In an instance, he thought the lantern had glowed a little in response. Maybe it was just his imagination...?
