I miss marching band. It was so much fun. I was also in orchestra, (I was in color guard which is part of the reason there are so many guard references. I also remember how much closer band was then Orchestra. Possibly because of Marching Band. But I remember it always being it being so much more fun to be a band geek then it was to be an Orch Dork.

I've bought poles before, they are only about $12 each and much more durable then any insturment I've seen.

[One Time In Band Camp] ooo Also, another one: Don't piss off a flute---we will play our highest B flat in your ear! Actually that's part of the reason #9 specifically mentions piccilo. They have higher notes. And are slightly more durable and much lighter then most other intruments.

Lol, Mufasa!! One of my My Band Directors is always saying that, it gets on all our nerves.
mrgreen If you fear for your innocence then stay away from the drumline and low brass.
For most freshman it's too late, they turn into one of us! Muwhahahaha
I think tubas are one of the most perverted besides the drumline. Also trumbones and other brass are very perverted, stay away from them. They also smell really bad. (No offense to other players, I'm the only girl tuba in my section T.T but it's lots of fun! XD better than being a "woodweenie")
mrgreen Never make eye contact with the drumline while they're practicing, or have their drums on. Never get in their way either.
This one guy threatend to run me over with his bass drum because I was messing with him in history class. But I kind of knew him, so he spared me
mrgreen Make sure you double knot your marching shoes
I have seen some freshman trip, it's so sad.
mrgreen Sunscreen can be your best friend
I burnt the left side of my leg so bad I couldn't bend it for the rest of band camp. Our feild faces East to West, and of course we march on it with our backs to the North and our faces to the South so the sun is always on our left side most of the time. Especialy during fundamentals, we stand there for 30 minutes, not moving, holding up our instruments higher than normal to have a good angle, then we march forwards, backwards, 4/5, etc. etc.
Our average practice time for band camp is about 7 hours aday

I have to agree with the double tie your shoe rule!!! We were marching during halftime at a football game and in one of the last couple of sets of our march, my friend LOSES his shoe!!!! *we were doing a jazz run backwards when it happened!!!* But luckily not alot of people noticed it!!! *or at least i dont think so...*
