I've been a bass drummer for roughly five years (since 7th grade) I think I've broken roughly 26 mallets. 12 my freshmen year (I think they were soft wood cheapies)7 my sophomore year and 7 this year. I also broke 1 head and 3 rims. My first section leader actually had to get metal mallets and he broke those too.

I've played for 4 years (started as a freshman and am now in college) and never could break any no matter how hard I tried xd . I have had others break my drum's head though (it was a school instrument).

I haven't broken any sticks, but I've dropped them dozens of times and I've torn the tape pretty good.

Well, before we started using the metal bass sticks my total was 52, then we started using the metal sticks and I've literally snapped 12 in half. My record for most in one night was 7...and that was just in the practice before we actually went out...xD

I've only broken about five sticks and a few mallets, but I've broken above seven or eight tenor heads in one drumline season before...I still have most of them for some reason.

As insane as it may sound, I've broken like 2 or 3 pairs of mallets from front line, and every now and then, when I'm messing around on the drum set;I've broken two pairs of drum sticks. It was hilarious 'cause I was playing and it snapped and I was just in shock. xD But I'm still young,so I've got a lot more sticks to break.

He tried welding them back together, but had no luck. they get to weak. we also broke heads on his drum(s) like crazy. He just played really loud! when our instructor was talking about stick heights, he still refers to a "pat" volume as being FFF!
