I have to keep my life for a very special someone. If I was to side with Kira, not only would I risk my full identity, I would be risking my full identity, the welfare of my family, and the blood that runs in my veins. To Kira, I would be no more than a puppet to advance his thirsty goals, and at any time I can be sacrificed for Kira's "greater good". I have no say or chance in how long I live.
