Hidaya smiled as she lay there, watching as the sky turned all hues of colours from a fiery blaze of reds and golds to deep indigos and blues which were speckled by the bright sparkling stars that stuck in the sky like diamonds.
Sunsets brought out all kinds of emotions, as if the sky itself were weeping and as soon as the last rays of light disapeared she turned and looked to her new friend as he spoke.
More pride, swelled within her chest and made her smile all the more as she watched him and then sat up happily.

"You're welcome." She started. "I'm glad I could change your opinion on the world around you."

The light was fading, leaving thie world though it was fated to return within as few hours, renewed and stronger than before. Pekee watched the stars blink into existance, one by one, the pools of light reflected in his eyes.

Then Hidaya spoke and he turned his head back to her, a crick in his neck from looking up so long. His whiskers flinched thoughtfully and after a moment he nodded. He seemed happier, though a smile did not yet grace his features. It would take him time to smile, take him time to become truly happy.

But even if it was just for one night it would be worth it to Pekee. For once he felt as close to peacefulness than ever before.

"Are you a traveller, Hidaya? A nomad? You said you were born by the sea. Is that your home, or simply a starting point for your journey?"

The hybrid relaxed herself as she lay down next to her new friend while watching the stars above twinkle and flicker within the dark indigo sky.
As another question graced her ears, one flickered softly as she turned to look up at him happily.

"Yeah, me and my family travel around a lot..." She started, sky blue eyes looking into his soft green ones.
"We get to see a lot of amazing sights too."

He blinked and turned to her, his insanely bright green eyes filled with confusion. "You still travel with your family?" He had left his the moment he had been given the chance. He had not loved them, but he had not loved anyone or anything. He didn't hate them either. He...well, he just felt nothing. A void.

"Is it normal to stay with your family for so long?" It was a naive question but one he felt that he had to ask. "I left mine...well...long ago." He wriggled. "It felt right to just...abandon them." No abandon wasn't the right word for it.

"Your family must have been different from mine." He nodded matter-of-factly.

"Where are they now?"

Hidaya was a little suprised at the males words, ears perked up curiously while she watched him...abandon his family? And it felt right to do that?
A brow arched slightly at him before she smiled a little.

"Some creatures stay with their families till the day they die, some are abandoned at birth to fend for themselves...it's the way things are and I suppose it just depends on the family."

She said, assuming his family must've been either mean to him or couldn't provide for him.
But such harsh thoughts made her frown and quickly whiped them from her mind.

"Mom will either be hunting with dad, or they'll be back at the den."

He nodded though he said nothing much else. His family had not been cruel, they had not abandoned him. In fact they had been a rather pleasant family in all. They just...freaked Pekee out. He hated how they looks so alike, all white and grey, all clones.

He hated it. Hated it so much that he couldn't bear to stay around them for long.

"I guess it would be nice to have family around...maybe." He sounded hesitant. "Hidaya..." He paused, cleared his throat. "Would you mind if I..." Oh hell, why was this so hard to say?!

He looked away from her. Maybe looking at the sky would make the words easier to say. "Would you mind if I tagged along? I mean...I've been by myself so long and never so much as understood anything about why I'm here...one meeting with you and the answers aren't so blurry anymore." He looked towards her, almost pleadingly.

The little juvenille watched the stars sparkle in the heavens so peacefully, taking in every one of them that twinkled until her newest friend spoke to her once more and she turned to him curiously.
His words made her eyes light up slightly, making her smile as if in awe with him before she giggled softly.
He was like a little cub! All nervous and stuff, it was so sweet!

As he looked at her with those pleading eyes she raised a fluffy, cub like paw and placed it comfortingly on his cheek before she smiled at him confidently.

"Sure, my mom and dad might be taking the family somewhere else soon...but for the meantime I'm here, you and me can hang around!" She said, voice optimistic and cheery as she watched him.

Nodding again, the white cheetah turned his head back to the sky. His heart did not feel happy but it did not feel sad and empty. Where the hole had once been something was now planted, a little seed of hope that would hopefully, in time, come to blossom and bring him happiness.

"Thank you Hidaya." He replied. "I'd like that."

And for the moment? He'd just stay here beside her and watch the sunset.
