And I think metal probably goes a long way toward promoting that image itself, since a lot of bands strive for the whole "brutality" thing.

The whole brutality thing really has no appeal to me, I prefer music that I enjoy and raises my spirits. I don't care what a band looks like as long as the music they manifest is delicious.
I'd rather get sprayed with beer at a folk metal concert or something than be caught in the center of a god damn mosh pit at a more heavy metal concert. That s**t doesn't interest me, I want to enjoy myself, not go home with a face full of elbow.

Mosh pits annoy me. I ended up getting shoved to one side, and the Korpiklaani gig, and was standing behind a pole the whole time. scream

Eh, mosh pits aren't a big deal to me one way or the other, but weighing 220 probably helps inhibit the whole getting pushed around thing.

Yeah, I get called an emo too. That makes so much sense since all I wear is white/pink/red/purple stripey stockings, tutus and the like... I also got asked why I don't like HIM if I like Finnish music. . . . Well, at Korpiklaani I get shoved to the floor more than once by the moshpit of drunken idiots that somehow formed around me. However, being the idiot that I am, I didn't want to lose my 2nd row place... Worth it. I met them all afterwards. w00t!

For some reason when I reply to stupid comments like "o so u lyk mertul yer?" with, uh... sure. And they ask what, so I list something slightly mainstream enough for them to know about; like Behemoth.
So they take the ******** nerve to say " So you must like Misfitz yeah? "
I'm not in anyway unique to how much this pisses me off, but y'know, we all have to deal with it.

I've never really had to deal with douchebags. A friend of mine used to call me emo, just to piss me off. But that's about it.
And. I'm not stupid enough to jump into a mosh pit.
I may be built like a brick shithouse, for a female, but there's no ******** way I'm chancing getting the s**t beaten out of me by drunken skinheads twice my age.

Whenever I listen to old Nightwish (opera style singing and what not) my little sister mocks Tarja and I have seriously almost bashed her head in a couple times.
