Two? A glance and a smile was passed in Al's direction as Edward continued to cut out the cookies from the doe... and soon making enough to cover not one.. but two trays of cookies.
"We sure can! All sorts of ornaments. We can go out and look for a tree while the cookies are baking." It would give them something to do, and then their mom could help them decide what kind of ornaments to make and make the tree all their own. It would be fun. He was sure they could find many different materials to alchemicly fashion their decorations.

A soft chuckle. "That sounds wonderful, boys. You can look just after we decorate these." With a slight twinkle in her green-blue eyes Trisha handed the boys shakers of yellow & brown colored sugar in front of the other cookie decorations. Al's grin wavered at the subtle tease, then he chuckled shaking his head. It was different thinking of Mom treating them like young men rather than boys especially as she seemed to go back & forth between the two. It must be hard for her... and yet she seemed happy. Of course, now older, Al did not bring up their father coming home as he had as a child.
"Of course! We couldn't leave them half finished, could we?" He shot a grin at his older brother, knowing they would still have plenty of time to figure out components and resulting ornaments. Child's play for them, like dolls. Smiling Trisha took the scraps from around the angels and reformed them into a ball while waiting for her boys to start decorating, planning on joining in when she had seen their choices. She after all had while they were out looking for a tree & the first batch baked to re-roll the dough for the next batch.

Edward also blinked at the different colored sugar, reacting in much the same was as Alphonse as he too caught on. He laughed lightly... his hand hovering in indecision for a moment before taking the yellow sugar and some of the other decorations. His brother's grin was mirrored and the decorating commensed! With Edward first making a few angels with blonde sugar hair... but later also making some brown haired ones. The icing would wait until after the cookies had baked... but until then he put on what he could.
Edward seemed to be thinking as he decorated, his wheels turning with thoughts about what decorations to make for the tree and so forth... along with a few other ponderances that he wouldn't care to bring up.
While their mom might be getting use to the idea of them being grown up.. Edward really didn't mind that much when she treated them like kids. After all... it brought back some fond memories... and it was more than welcome.

Alphonse chose to avoid the hair altogether, instead settling into an easy pattern of placing the slices of cherry 'lips' into place. Their mother's eyes nearly closed with her smile as she stepped to the sink to quickly wash her hands and as she returned put one arm around the shoulders of each of her boys, leaning in to be part of the fun & watch them work but really because she just wanted to be close to them. Trisha dearly loved her sons. And... well being close to them was in a small way like being close to their father. And when Al got a funny look on his face, hand lingering over the 'lips' he had just put in place on a blonde angel and zoned for a brief moment between his smiles and laughter Trisha noted the peculiarity but said nothing. Even if Ed made more blondes than brunettes, she said nothing -though Trisha did count them, brow lifting before settling into her smile again.
"They look lovely, boys." Smiling she gave their shoulders a squeeze then reached up and ruffled their hair a bit. Just over the bangs, not to mess up their ponytails.
"Why don't the two of you head off to look for that tree? I think I can manage getting a couple of trays into the oven by myself." Smiling up at this mother Al blinked in surprise like one who has been startled from a happy dream. What? Leave her? Al blinked again before a gentle & warm smile lit his face. Brown-gold eyes shot to his brother and he nodded that he was ready to go.

Whether or not he was anticipating his mother keeping count... he made the same number of blonde and brunette angels. The gentle words of praise from their mother made Edward smile and he looked up at her when she made the suggestion of going to find the tree. He looked to his brother with a big grin, "Okay.. C'mon Al, lets go find that tree!"
He felt like a kid again, wanting to get his mother's praise and adoration... anything to please her and make her smile. Grabbing his coat, Edward went to the door, knowing that they wouldn't need an axe. They would be able to handle the tree just fine, and the less they had to carry the better! As soon as Alphonse was ready, he headed out the door, especting his younger brother to follow. And then leading them into the woods to search for that perfect tree.

oh right! Coat! Alphonse laughed, grabbing his coat then putting it on as he went through the door after his brother. Smiling, Trisha waved them off. Her boys were so grown up...
Hands in his pockets the younger brother fell into step behind Ed. This was nice. Deeply Al breathed in the cool air around them -so clean over the layer of snow. Snow was such a pure thing. Unsullied. White...
Alphonse shook his head, the faintest hint of blush on his cheeks. It could be accounted to the cold. Hopefully it would be. "So what type of conifer are we looking for, Brother?"
