I saw this and was happy: xd Tennant laughs off Dr Who rumours By Tim Masters Entertainment editor, BBC News Staying in the Tardis: David Tennant plays the 10th Doctor
David Tennant Doctor Who star David Tennant has laughed off speculation that he is planning to quit the show at the end of the next series in 2008. Comic actress Catherine Tate sparked rumours at the weekend when she said in a radio interview that she thought the next series would be Tennant's last.
Tate is due to join the Doctor in the Tardis as his new companion in 2008.
Tennant, speaking at the launch of the Christmas episode, said: "Catherine Tate stitched me up good and proper."
"I started getting all these phone calls on Saturday lunchtime saying apparently you're leaving Doctor Who," Tennant told the BBC. "Catherine Tate's just announced it on Radio 2 - thanks Catherine!"
He added: "I said to her on Monday morning did you know you've caused a minor diplomatic incident? She was completely oblivious that the phone had been ringing off the hook."
Tennant confirmed he was doing four Doctor Who specials in 2009, but there was no decision about the next series in 2010.
"I'm doing four more specials and beyond that no one's asked me to make any decisions and I'm quite happy to be enigmatic for as long as possible," he said.

Yup, I just heard a different radio interview with him and his exact words were "nobody's approached me about leaving and it's not even something I've thought about!" He said again in this one that no decisions had been made for 2010 onwards.

Hmm, I don't want him to leave... and not just because I love Tennant as the Doctor. The Doctor only has two lives left, he can't keep regenerating left and right...

Amata19 Hmm, I don't want him to leave... and not just because I love Tennant as the Doctor. The Doctor only has two lives left, he can't keep regenerating left and right... That's not a definite anymore, though, is it? We know that the Time Lords could give out regenerations, because they brought the Master back and gave him some. So, for all we know, the limit on regenerations could be nonexistant. He could regenerate until he chooses not to.

I have to agree with you. After the end of The Last Of The Time Lords, it does seem that they can choose whether they want to regenerate or not. In fact, if memory serves, in the old episodes, didn't The Master renew his cycle of regeneration ny bonding his DNA(essence, soul?) to a human who wandered upon him as he lay dying? I seem to recall he was at the end of his regeneration cycle, the human found him, he bonded them and gained a whole new set of lives. Am I right or have I gone round the bend? mrgreen

You have to rememer that Tennant is a Doctor Who fan himself... and on more than one occassion he has remarked that he would like to break Tom Baker's record for being the doctor.
I bet that (like Brett Favre... love the Packers BTW biggrin ) we'll see Tennant around for quite some time.

Go Pack Go! mrgreen and I certainly hope so. @Masters Press Agent- I remember that, from the end of Keeper of Traken. He still had some of the power of the Keeper inside of him then, and took over Tremes' body. I don't think it would work with just any Time Lord. The Master is a special case. ^_^

Man, that's a relief. David's great as the Doctor. And the thing with the regenerations has been freaking me out for a while, but now that I think of it, it doesn't seem to be definite.

Thanks for the confirmation! It's been ages since I've seen the Tom Baker years! I used to watch them when I lived near New Orleans... long before Katrina destroyed my beloved city! Thanks! mrgreen

Yeah, that it was! But I had moved to South Dakota a few years before Katrina hit. I'm very happy David is staying. He does such a great job as The Doctor.

I admire his skills as an actor. I dabble in acting myself, not really serious about it, but I admire him for that.
