The Crying Game was my favorite. It really dives into the Irish-British conflict, the depth of commitment and the bitterness of the Irish. And the love story is incredible, funny, surprising and touching. The acting is all at the same level - outstanding. The story is complex with unexpected moments (to say the least). Violence, politics, love, loyalty... it's all in there.
The films below are either also outstanding or very enjoyable, and in some cases it was hard to choose. I'd watch any of them again.
A League of Their Own Alien³ Army of Darkness The Babe Basic Instinct Beethoven Belle Époque (The Age of Beauty) City of Joy Death Becomes Her Diggstown Hero Hoffa Howards End Like Water For Chocolate Malcolm X The Mambo Kings My Cousin Vinny Radio Flyer Raising Cain Reservoir Dogs A River Runs Through It Scent of a Woman Sister Act Unforgiven
