ZeeFishee Ooo. One thing that bugs the crap out my boyfriend is that I love religious Christmas songs, so I prance around the house singing them and being blasphemous. Except I never learned all of the words to most of them, so I end up sounding like this. xd xd xd ME TOO! My favorite is the Drummer Boy and We Three Kings. I used to know the words... and I've forgotten them over the years so... I do that a lot. "We three kings of dah duh duh duh Traveling afar! YAY!" And something about frankincense and myrrh and blah.

I always sing "Oh Holy Night!" I think because it's so religious. I love the Celine Dion version since she goes ape-s**t on it. xd

I ******** hate Christmas.
I hate the religious aspects, and I hate the presents.
Yes, I know it sounds weird to come from a 16 year old girls mouth, but I hate getting presents.
It makes me feel embarrassed. I come from an upper middle class family, but instead of helping others, my parents are buying me electronic devices which are not necessities. Yes, it's nice to get a new calendar, a few books and CDs, maybe a DVD or whatever, but I don't like getting lots of gifts. I'm not even Christian, and there are so many other kids who aren't even going to get to eat on a day where I get a s**t load of material objects.
And what makes me mad, is when I tell people how I feel, I just get called an ungrateful brat.

Pros
- Ironicly, heavy-duty religous songs. Many of them are very pretty (God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Don oi’che u’d i mBeithil, etc.) - Giving people stuff - No school
Cons
- People getting me stuff, even though I ask them not to because I don't need or want it and I don't feel at all materialistic when I'm supposed to be all appreciative about it. - Old bitchy senile relatives - Happy joyous repetitive kiddie Christmas music - A bajillion more Santa and corny can't-change-family films

I hate the glitz of the Holiday season, but Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are full of fun, warm, happy family time that rarely happens. It's even fun when I have to work. And now that I'm older, it's not so much about the presents anymore. It's about seeing other people's reactions to opening their gifts, and it's about having a good time with your family. So as much as I grumble during the month of December, I do actually love the holiday.

lol. Last night, while we were opening gifts, I got a little tipsy and started singing-- "Hark the harold, angels sing, na na na, don't know the words."

Ehhh. There are holidays I enjoy more. Since it doesn't have any religious value for me, there are two other holidays within five days of it both ways (Winter Solstice and New Year's which really celebrate the same thing, just by different calendars. Same sense of renewal and starting over.), and I find the commercialism of it quite cheap, the only thing left is the family and humanly togetherness. Man, so many holidays in December....Let's see, Christmas, Solstice, New Year's (eve), Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Kwanzaa, isn't even religious, btw, a lot of people don't know that. It's a holiday for African-American heritage.
