the gaurd looked at her strangely, and noticed her bells. noting that something indeed must be amiss in the old kingdom, he nodded and his squad continued their patrol.

Nali walked over to him and handed him the sleeping hawk "actually, you owe me nothing" she said "sorry. it is only asleep though and should be awake in a few hours"

He took the hawk, and as he did, the northern wind began to die down, and the hawk began to fade. "This usually happens. He doesn't last that long without the charter. when we gat across the wall he'll be fine. So, why are you tryng to get into the old kingdom?

"we might have similar goals then. if the ahborsen is in trouble, then who knows what else could be wrong in the old kingdom. Aves, the hawk, managed to say something bad was going to happen and i had to help stop it, but then the north wind stopped blowing and he disapeared. all the other times he's come back, he's been unable to talk. i hope when we get across to the old kingdom he might be able to tell me more."

"i see" Nali said as they came to the gate. she opened the gate and the familiar charter magic greeted them. "man have i missed this" she muttered as they stepped into the Old Kingdom.

Aves suddenly reapeared. and turned to Nate.
"hmmm... he says there isn't much time. we need to get to belisaere quickly. he says... the royal families been murdered. how can we get there quikly though? belisaere is way up north. it would take us weeks."

Nali thought a moment and then said "we could head to my father's house, and take a paperwing from there" she was staring at the bell bandolier across her chest and thinking hard

"sounds like a plan, lets..." he was cut off by mettalic taste to the air. he drew his sword, and looked around to find the free magic creature that was the scource.

Nali's nose burned with the smell of free magic. she drew Ranna from the bandolier and Nehime from her side

Suddenly, a bright flash bolted towards them. Nate quikly drew a couple charter marks of protection, and the creature bounced away, but left the shield weaker.

Nali rang Ranna and the sound cut through the air with a sharp and high note. she then put Ranna away and drew Saraneth.

as the creature was trying to resist ranna's call, Nate drew a quick mark in the air and he threw and orb of a bluish light at his foe, breaking it's concentration.

Nali rang Saraneth and bound the creature. she tried to send it walking into death, but she lacked the power. she just tried to keep it from attacking them for a moment.

with the creature significantly weakened, nate drew several complicated charter marks, and a silvery bolt flew towards the creature.
