Mitsuko I wish I could play the violin. Its a beautiful instrument... I might learn it after I have my guitar playing perfected... But I've been playing guitar for about a year now. I even tried out to play guitar for jazz band this year... I was 3rd... but they only needed 2... >.< You must be a pretty good guitarist...damn u! I dont play that often and it just doesn't spark my interest anymore. But good for you practing and trying out. blaugh

I'm new here.I have been playing piano for 7 years, ever since i was 5-6. Right now, i'm on the 5th level in the Alfred Basic Library series*there are 6 levels* Many people say i should join in our school band or Jazz Band, but i just don't like playing with other people

MizPerfect I'm new here.I have been playing piano for 7 years, ever since i was 5-6. Right now, i'm on the 5th level in the Alfred Basic Library series*there are 6 levels* Many people say i should join in our school band or Jazz Band, but i just don't like playing with other peopleThat's not cool. How come you don't like playing with other people???

Hey, I'm new to this guild. I play violin, guitar, and piano (I've taken violin lessons for 6/7 years now, but I taught myself guitar and piano so I'm not exceptionally good at either of those). Anyway, I started playing violin in a mandatory music class in sixth grade, but it's become the major passion in my life. I didn't make all-state ( crying ) but I am third chair in all-conference so that's ok.
So do any of you guys play in a high school orchestra like me? I am in the highest level orchestra at our school, and have been since ninth grade, but I am only 5th chair. Most everyone in the orchestra is a good player, but I just don't get it--the second violin section doesn't seem to try very hard. It kind of frustrates me. Ah well, what can ya do. Anyway, do you orch. dorks share the same feeling? I was wondering if it's just me or if it is a problem in many orchestras.

violin=6 years
double bass=4 years
guitar=3 years
bass guitar=4 years
viola=4 years
cello=2 years
harp= fool around with it for 1 year
banjo=fool around with it fir 2 months
strings.....its where its at.

this is my eighth year for violin and i think my third year of piano. we have three youth orchestras in our city and i'm in the second one, being the intermediate level i guess. i'm assistant concert master (second chair).

i have been playing violin for nine years and the piano for 8 or 7 i have also played the cornet and was not verry good at it sweatdrop and was ok at the flute.

I'm a violinist in high school. I'm a freshman and started just this year. It's an awesome instrument. My only regret's not starting sooner!

xp Man, I feel young. I've been playing the violin for about four years. I started in 3rd grade and I'm only in 7th grade. xD Well, I'm in advanced orchestra and in the 2nd violin section..I think that's pretty good. I'm hoping to learn how to play piano over the summer. That is..if I can find a teacher. sweatdrop

I play violin, for 5 years now. . .wow, but i suck, no private teacher. i am in the middle orchestra tho. . .
i play piano too. ive played for 9 years, and im pretty good if i do say so myself.
but my REAL love is COLORGUARD!!!! biggrin biggrin biggrin im a crazy guardie girlie!!! biggrin

I've only been playing Violin for about 3 years. We have an orcastra type thing that goes through our community ed program, but I didn't like it. There were too many little kids and none of them knew, or barely knew, how to play in an ensamble... and it drove me crazy (after having been in band for 5 years). So I quit that and I just play on my own. I love it a lot.
I would like to gutair someday, but first I need to get one. Same with the piano. xd
