He sits quietly, waiting for her decision. No matter what she decided, he knew he'd never really leave her. He would continue to follow her, to feel her pain, to share in her loneliness, and hope that by feeling her pain himself, it would lessen it somewhat for her.
His smile when she said he could stay was so heartbreakingly beautiful as to almost cause tears. With a quick bob of the head to acknowledge her, he rose to his feet and began to follow her. As she turned away, he smiled to himself, both amazed that she had agreed to his pleas and endlessly happy that she had. As he followed her along the cliff's edge he spoke quietly, "Thank you, Karis. Truly, this means everything to me, and I would not let you down for the world. I..........I love you too much to ever cause you pain."

Well, if there was one word for karis. Amicable had always been one that described her well. Always despite whatever primary feelings or thoughts she held inwardly, she always was quick to adapt. She was always making herself available to others. In fact, it had only been over hte last year as she grew into her adulthood that she really came to feel how she was.
Looking up at Nicholas with wide and sincere eyes. The last thing she wanted was for him to feel afflicted because of her own misery. She still found it practically unbelievable that anyone would feel that moved by her loneliness nad turmoil. Still, he did seem rather genuine. The wings were obviously real. Listening to his pleas tugged at her will. A will that quickly became pliable to him.
If this was all some mysterious occurrence, she would have to just wait it out and see what came of it. He did certainly seem nice enough. His wings were lovely... and.. if he truly wanted to spend time with her. Who was she to object? Even more... could it really be true for him to love her? Part of her still didn't fully believe it; yet, she felt she just had to test it. She had to give him time to stay and show her it was real. If that happened, if he could prove how real it was to her... Maybe then she could think what to do further than just living in this very moment...
"I am sure. Come... It's gonna get colder out. I have a small cave I found in the side of the cliffs. It's not super large.. but it should be room enough for both of us..." She then went futher, pausing only outside its entrance. "Do you think... you might.. stay a little while at least? I won't wake up to find you gone and only a memory.. will I?"

He nods and smiles at her, "I am sure we will find a way to fit. My wings fold up tightly against my back when I need them to. Have you any food, or shall I procure something for us to eat?" He stops when she does and looks at her, his eyes full of sincerity, "I will not leave you, Karis. I am here for as long as you wish me to. I am no figment, no dream. I am flesh and blood, fur and feather, and I am yours."
He bows his head and gently nuzzles her shoulder, "I will never disappear, never run off, never leave you. I will remain by your side until my dying day."

Karis looked at him with a sheepish, embarrassed smile. "Oh, sorry.. I don't have anything here to eat. I just usually find little birds who are on tree branches nearby... or.. fish going over the waterfall... Sorry..."
Karis went ahead and walked into the cave. She walked to a large pile of leaves, feathers, and other things she had found over the last few months that were made into a make shift bed. It wasn't as soft as the bushes from the dense forest she came from. She thought maybe if he stayed.. they could go there? Maybe...
Then, she decided not to think that far ahead. She still deep down wanted to wait and see if he was still really there in the morning. She sat and lowered herself to laying on her stomach, her tail fluffing behind her expectantly.

He nods and smiles, "That's all right, I can wait." He moves in next to her, sitting upright, not wanting to frighten or upset her by laying down with her.
He smiles at her fondly, content just to be near her, to be able to look at her. "What are you thinking of? You have a small smile on your face, as though you are thinking of something pleasant..."

She half opened her eyes and looked towards him. "Well, even if you had turned out to be my imagination. It does feel nice to have someone to talk to.. someone who wanted to come around... lol. Just the idea of not being alone for the first in a long time..."
He had found her when her heart was in such a dark place. Maybe he really was an angel sent from heaven. Or, maybe a goddess decided to smile and send her a special christmas gift. One that would enrich her life more than she knew. Either way, she was very happy he was sticking around. "Are you gonna lay with me? and sleep here? You can... you know."
Then, she shut her eyes again about to drift off, feeling a wondrous quiet inside. She hoped he would stay. If he was her angel that was sent for her, maybe he would be a snuggler. And... maybe he would make a family with her. Were angels allowed to do that?

He returns her smile, "You won't ever have to be alone again, Karis, I promise. I'll always be here." He goes back to watching her, content with his place in the world moreso now than ever.
He nods in response to her questions, "I did not wish to frighten you, but if that is what you wish, I will lay down with you." He picks his way over to her side and gently lowers himself down behind her, the feathers of his wings rustling ever so slightly. Needing some space for his wings, he ends up chest to back with her, draping one of those wings over the both of them for added warmth.
Purring softly he licks the back of her neck, inducing a feeling of safety and warmth and...home. He will sleep, but he wants to make sure that his love gets the rest she needs.

As that night passed and the next few after it, Karis had woke up every morning half wondering if he'd have turned out to be a dream. Or, maybe he changed his mind and left before she woke. Though, the mornings kept coming, and when she'd wake up, he was still there. He was so keen to be to meeting of her needs. It was feeling like she had fallen into a fairy tale.
This morning, she woke up. It had been a few days. She decided she would try to go do something for him. He was being so patient and letting her come to terms of belief on her own. She then got up and shook herself off. Then, she crept out of the cave quietly. She had been gone for an hour or so. She had been out at the waterfall, watching for some fish that came spilling over. She watched. After some toil, she returned with two large sized ones. She stopped in front of the cave where she set up a pile of something to cook them on. As it heated up, she looked at it smiling and proud. She was excited to make him breakfast. Would he like it?

He awakens to the smell of cooking fish. Smiling, he stands and stretches, careful not to bump his wings on the walls of the cave. His nose leads him to the mouth of the cave where he sits and silently watches Karis prepare the fish.
Its been only a few days since they met, but he could feel her starting to let go of her fear that he would leave. He didn't mind, his kind have been known for their patience, and for her, he'd wait an eternity. The simple act of her making their breakfast brought a smile to his face and a warmth to his heart.

Karis turned her head and looked at him. She felt his coming even though she hadn't heard his footsteps. "Oh, you're up. After we eat, I thought I'd take you down into the forest. I was gonna show you my old home in a thicket. It might be hard to find though. With all the snow everywhere... It'd be much more habitable once the nicer weather comes."
She blinked and looked back at the fish. They were just about done, so she stuck a claw into one and slid it off the stick she had htem roasting on. She carried it over tucked in her teeth to him. She sat then in front of him offering him a fish she had caught and cooked herself.

He smiles, "Yes, I found myself woken up by the most tempting aroma. I am at your disposal, and I would like very much to see your home. I have every confidence that we can find it."
He accepts the fish, taking it carefully from her, so as not to nick her muzzle with his own teeth. "Thank you Karis, truly, it smells wonderful." He holds it in his front paws, tearing a piece off and chewing on it slowly, savoring the delicious taste of the fish.
"And it tastes even better than it smells, you have a wonderful way with fish.", he licks her cheek softly in thanks and returns to eating the breakfast she's so thoughtfully made for him.

She sat to the side, slowly only eating her fish in little bits as she felt a tad weird to eat in front of him. She felt in some ways as though she were entertaining a god as it were. ... or some great being at least.
"Well, if someone as wonderful and lovely as yourself came here.. just to see me. The least I can do is make you breakfast. I am especially good with fish and swimming. I suppose I might be good with children.. I mean.. for a while there, it would seem majority of ulaya i seemed to naturally run into were mostly children."
Karis smiled in a bashful way and tilted her head to the side, to nibble on her own breakfast. Her tail ever twitching. This was truly amazing. Maybe they would take a walk in a little while. Maybe they would trot through the forest. Maybe she could show him the thicket in the forest where she spends some of her summers.

He grins boyishly at her, a few flakes of fish stuck to his chin. How strange, he thinks, she really doesn't know how beautiful she is. He finishes off the rest of his fish and digs a small hole to bury the bones in, the last thing she'd want is some scavenger prowling around.
"Had I known the reception I would get from you, I would have shown myself much sooner. Unfortunately, I tend to either frighten or awe upon first appearance...and I do not particularly care for either reaction." He smiles softly at her. "I am sure you would be wonderful with children, Karis. I am not surprised, children seem to instinctively know where to find the most caring Jokoa around."
He sits and keeps a close watch over the area while she eats, not wanting anything to disturb her meal. Of course, he also can't help but to watch her as well, his eyes warming every time they fall on her.

Karis twitched her tail excitedly. Her eyes started to brighten and dance with vigor. She quickly finished. She wasn't going to eat heavy. Not today. Sometimes, she would eat lots if she were just laying about the cliffside all day. But, on a day like today.. when she wanted to take him places and show him things. She wanted to feel light on her feet.
She was up and moving before long. "Ok. I'm taking you to my... 'summer home' persay. It's where i first lived in the island... I haven't been there since the middle of autumn of last year. But.. it's a nice little place. Let's go... If we sit around here, I think I might overflow with anticipation." She smiled wide as she started to leap down the side, where some stones formed a would be stair up to where she lived.

He grins and heads after her, foregoing the stairs and instead leaping off the side of the cliff. His wings open wide, catching an updraft and he rides the air currents to the ground, landing softly not far from her. His wings carefully arranged on his back, he looks to her with a smile.
"It sounds wonderful Karis, lead the way!", he trots over to her and nuzzles her shoulder briefly. "Perhaps we'll see some of the children you spoke of along the way. I like children, they're part of the small group of Jokoa that don't overreact to my appearance."
