Weaving blissfully through the forest trees, Chase, the eternal drifter, caught sight of a small crowd of Sentinels. “Pluck my feathers and call me a Serpe!” he hooted with surprise, unwillingly letting out one of his grandmother’s old sayings. He closed his beak as soon as he realized a performance was being carrying out. The bard! It was the wildtype that had crashed near the banquet during the Longest Night. Quickly glancing over the attentive audience, his eyes met the deep woods female that had saved the bard the other night. They were obviously close friends. To his surprise that was not the only familiar sight. As the bard’s voice and his story sent a shiver down his spine, Chase noticed three other Sentinels he had already met. He saw Liam and his little restless fledgling (what was his name?!) but before he could fly to them, recognized another fledging just as she arrived. He hopped to her as silently as he could and whispered gently as he bowed his head. “Hello again, Lore. I just arrived. I’m going to join Liam. Your friend is also there.” And then he flew over to Liam, landing softly by his side.

Lore started when she heard the voice in her ear. She turned around just in time to see an odd owl that seemed to have four eyes swooping to land near Liam. She seemed to remember him from the longest night, but his name slipped her mind. 'What was that he said?' she wondered. Remembering, she started to scan the crowd more thoroughly. 'Ah, he must mean Thorn!' she realized. It was nice of him to point Thorn out to her, she would never have remembered to look for friends while the story was so engrossing. She flew over to sit with Thorn, with extra care not to hit anyone in her flight path. "Hi again!" she whispered, trying not to disturb the rest of the audience with her greeting. A large owl coughed at her dissaprovingly, but no one else seemed bothered. She grinned at Thorn. "Good show, eh?"

Thorn hooted softly at the sight of his friend. "An excellent show! I can't believe it's the same Bard I saw tangled up in his instrument at the gathering!"
Liam fluffed happily at the sight of Chase. "Well hello there!" he said as quietly as he could. "You're just in time! The story hasn't gone too far yet... How have you been since the gathering?"

“Nice to see you again, little one. I’ve been well, thank you.” Chase whispered, still unable to remember the fledging’s name. Mesmerized by Birch’s performance he added in an almost inaudible whisper “He is quite good, isn’t he…?”

Lore snickered. "What, really? That's hilarious! How did he even manage it? Wish I had seen it!" Lore laughed harder, imagining the story teller's clumsyness. "His storytelling ability outranks his grace at least. He's a really talented tale-teller. But think we can get him to try again with an instrument after the story? I wanna see too." Lore said, and plotted good-natured mischief.

As a Ranger, Raine usually patrolled the borders of Noctua. However, on this one occasion, she had ventured off course. "Rae-Rae go thataway. " Hazel had advised, and Raine, trusting her companion's judgement, had obliged.
"Are you absolutely sure you heard something?" she questioned, after they had been flying for an hour in the wrong direction. "Hazel hear voice." came the simply reply from the Martes, who was presently dangling in the air by Raine's will. "Oh, alright, but I don't hear anything...wait..." Tilting her head, the Sentinel picked up on a faint and somewhat familiar sound. She swooped in, to discover the bard she had met on The Longest Night performing in front of a rapt audience. "See?" Hazel wore a smug and cheeky grin. "Hazel sa-" He was quickly shushed by Raine. "Its a story, do be quiet and listen!" The two latecomers watched the performance from the shadows.

Lore turned around when she heard a loud voice quickly shushed. There was a Sentinal in the shadows that hadn't been there before, and a... a martes!? Lore's eyes gleamed as she turned back around. Martes were rare. Her plan of trying to get Birch to play his intrument again were shoved to the back of her thoughts. Lore wanted to meet this Sentinal and find out more about the martes. For now, though, she decided to continue chatting with Thorn and talk to the martes owning Sentinal later. 'Thorn is cuter than the martes,' she though, 'but the martes is cool.'

Twilla turned her eyes from Birch for a moment. The arrival of others had been somewhat distracting and she studied each feathered body that arrived. Most of them, surprisingly, she didn't know.
"Guess I better socialize a little more, eh?" She chuckled quietly to herself.
"Oi, well, yeah." A small voice agreed, but sounded sarcastic. "Naw, y'jest keep goin' wi'ou' a clue, m'dear. Dunna matter 'bout other featherbrains." The little gray mus popped up on her head and giggled softly.
"Gah, you little rotter. Auze, one of these days, someone is going to eat you." The shadow female rolled her eyes, then turned her attention back to Birch's performance.

Hazel was hungry. Nonstop patrolling had taken its toll on both Sentinel and Martes. Though Raine seemed unconcerned, his own stomach had begun to protest...loudly...Not allowed to speak, Hazel settled for franticly poking his owner. The Martes was a comical sight indeed, pointing to his stomach while miming the action of eating. Engrossed with the play, Raine absentmindedly nodded, which Hazel took as her consent to him finding a bite to eat. The hungry Martes slinked off, towards the nearest Sentinel.

Chase couldn’t take his eyes of Birch. Wide-eyed and with an expectant smile, he didn’t even bother to check what had risen Lore’s interest. It was probably just another fledgling.

Lore turned around to sneak anouther peek at the martes. But where'd he go? Lore looked around her, but still didn't see him. Remembering his dark coloring, she realised that she probably wouldn't be able to see if if his bright white face or belly wasn't showing. The Sentinal he belonged to didn't seem to be concerned, so he must not have left the theater. So what happened? Lore shrugged. She didn't know where the martes went and didn't think it was good news, but what if she disturbed the big Sentinal for nothing? Everyone in the theater would look at her and the story would stop. Lore shrunk deeper into her perch.

Raine sensed her Martes take his leave from by her side. She was about to get up from her comfy perch, but decided against it. Hazel would be okay. There wasn’t much trouble he could get into here, and besides, after the mishap at The Longest Night, Raine was sure that her trouble-making companion had learnt his lesson.
Meanwhile, a few trees away, Hazel caught sight of a snowy white fledgling. He tilted his head, scrutinizing her for a few moments, before bounding towards the young Sentinel. The hungry Martes spoke in what he thought to be a whisper, “Hazel hungry. Have food?”

Lore blinked as she heard a small voice coming from beside her. Looking down she saw the little martes peering up at her. "Oh!" she said, surpirsed that the little fella was asking her for food. Lore started at him for a moment, seeing his small nose twitching. Following his gaze, she realised that she still had a mouse she had caught by chance while she was outside and forgotten to eat in her curiosity to see what was in the theater. Well, she couldn't eat it here anyway. Lore passed the morsel to him. "You're pretty, Hazel!" she said with a fledgling's typical enthusiasm. "You wanna sit and listen Birch with me?" she asked, glancing back at the Sentinal in the back of the theater.

Nodding, the Martes sat beside the eager fledgling. He tore savagely at the mouse in his hunger, momentarily forgetting the mannerisms Raine had taught him.
I wonder how Hazel's doing... Raine turned her head, instinctively knowing where her companion was, even in the darkness of the theatre. Ah, it was good to know that Hazel could be left unsupervised for at least a few minutes without getting into trouble...Wait...was that a mouse she spied? In an incriminating (but entirely misleading) scene, Hazel was sitting next to a Mist fledgling, chewing on a presumably stolen mouse. Raine gasped. It wasn't a companion, but still...Emerging from out of the shadows, Raine snuck up right behind her Martes, catching him at the scene of the crime. "Hazel! Just what do you think you're doing?" she hissed, under her breath.

"No worries, ma'am! I gave it to her. Really!" Lore said hurridly, rushing to defend the small martes that had eaten the mouse. She couldn't help bragging a bit, though, and despite the angry hissing of the deep wood's tone she added with pride, "I caught it myself!" and ran her beak over her feathers quickly. She had just recently nearly perfected catching mice, only needing to work out how to not crash when the mice ducked into their burrows, and was proud of this acheivement, even though it mean the mice got away more often than not. She was happy that Hazel had enjoyed the mouse so much, even though she made a bit of a mess of it. Swollowing mice whole was so much easier Lore though as she watched the Deep Woods Sentinal calm down.
