Neve wasn't the only one who couldn't understand why she liked him. He had a very good feeling she did, past the border of friendship, so it wasn't a shock to him... But still. He had gotten her pregnant, disregarding her beliefs about fickle feelings. Wasn't she supposed to, y'know, hate him or something? It would've been best for her to think that way, but Marius honestly didn't want her to hate him. He wouldn't know how to react if she did indeed grow to despise him.
He turned slightly to look at her, his expression blank but his eyes hard. "We are." He repeated, swallowing. "And I don't want us to fight either." He said quietly, turning around once more to face her. He offered a very weak smile, "I don't believe in love, yes. At least I didn't till I met you. Now my view is extremely... Distorted, let's say." He tossed his mane and took a few more steps towards her, enough for him to lightly nuzzle her nose.

'When you work out what your heart is trying to tell you, let me know?' Neve replied lightly, her wings rustling in her sudden nerves as he bestowed a gentle touch of his nose to hers.
The intimacy that had led to her pregnancy was one thing, that she could handle, but it was the after that she was having problems with. And this; his gesture was either a peacemaker, or the beginning of something between them. The latter was scary, in that scary-good way, when something new started and you were a part of it.
'Will you tell your own family about - about you becoming a father?' she asked after a moments silence. If she could find her father she would tell him; her mother was to be avoided at all costs, now and after the birth. A slight shiver passed over her.

Marius was relieved to feel the heavy atmosphere lift, and now they were talking more lightly to one another. His weak smile was strengthened, and a grin tugged at his dark lips as he pulled away slightly. "I might... I may just let you try and figure out when. Makes thingsmore interesting," He smirked a bit and flicked his tail.
The stallion mulled over her question for a moment, taking in a breath, "Well, I suppose I will. My mother doesn't live too far from here... She'll take this as a major shock. Last time I spoke to her she was pregnant again, so maybe we should wait until we've actually got foals on our hands. Give her some time to deal with my newer siblings." He glanced in the direction of the trail that inevitably led to his parents makeshift home a while a way, closer to the mountains.
Marius had yet to meet his newest siblings, and he was fairly sure they had stumbled out of their baskets already. It would do him good to meet his new sibllings, and for Neve as well to meet his mother.
"And you'll be telling your father, I'm assuming?" He rose his brows questioningly. Would he have to meet the casanova as well?

'Hah..' Neve snorted lightly at what Marius said. 'I should thank you for your generosity then.' she unfurled a wing, spreading it around and flicking him the ends of her pinion feathers.
'I should like to meet your mother, your whole family in fact.' Should she comment on the fact that his mother had given birth again? Was it a good thing? She couldn't quite gauge from what Marius said if it was or not.
'She will not like the idea?' Neve's ears flattened a little. She didn't think she could bear having both grandmothers being estranged from her children. She at least didn't have to fear for their lives with Marius's mother at any rate. She nodded; 'If I can track Guilian down, I will tell him. I think he will be pleased.' Neve fanned herself with her wings now, a sudden woozy feeling with a sweat coming over her. 'I either need to eat..or lie down..' she said, her brow furrowed as she tried to work out what her body needed her to do.

Even though they were much closer than the first time they had met, whnever one of her feathers touched him it sent a faint chill down his spine. He never seemed to get used to it. He gaped abit at her when she said she wanted to meet his whole family, and immediatly he pulled back, mulling over it. "Well, my parents don't live far from here. Once the kids are born we could take a walk down over there. You might run into Eponine some time, she travels a lot. Zevach..." He trailed off, snorting, "I'll keep you from the displeasure of meeting him." He tried to keep his voice light, watching her with an amused expression at her reaction.
"My mother, Neve, prides herself on her youth. To be a mother and now a grandmother, well, you know." He chuckled flicking her playfully with his long tail. Marius nodded when she brought up her father. He'd like to meet him of course, some day, but... Well, hopefully he wouldn't be mad. Weren't fathers protective of their little girls?
At her words, brief panic crossed his face and he was at her side in an instant, pressing his side against hers gently in case she needed help. "Lie down. The grass here is good, if you're hungry," he said sheepishly, unsure of how she was feeling.

Zevach had to be his brother; she knew full well how troublesome sibling relationships could be. But...Neve would judge for herself how Zevach was, she didn't want to hurt Marius but curiosity wouldn't let her not meet him if the chance presented itself.
'Very kind of you..' she answered instead. How she liked it when he used her name, and smiled at him, despite the faintness that she was feeling. At his touch she trembled, but she could easily ascribe that to her current weak feeling. That was her excuse and she was sticking to it!
'Grandmother..' At that thought she realised that in the distant future she might well be known as the same! But one day at a time; in the present she was just glad for Marius being there and she rested against him a little, before letting her legs fold beneath her as she lowered herself to the ground. 'Thank you,' she said with feeling. She twisted a little, pulling up a mouthful of the grass that she wasn't laid upon and chewed, her pale eyes fixed on Marius - not staring, just looking at him.

(Timeskip ahoy~!)
So doting on a pregnant mare wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. Maybe it was because this mare was Neve, and that they were his children she was carrying. Marius couldn't really call what had happened that one night a mistake, but he'd find out soon enough once the children were born. He didn't want to let Neve down with his parenting skills... He had no idea how to care care of little ones! Was some natural instinct supposed to kick in? Oh dear lord, help him.
The stallion paced back and forth outside their little home. He had left to give her some privacy. She had to be getting sick of him. He was such a nervous wreck! "Get ahold of yourself..." He grumbled, his bi-colored eyes flickering to the dangling branches that concealed their home. It had to be almost time, right?

Neve's affections for Marius had grown the longer she stayed with him; a danger for any emotional, over-hormonal mare. She knew she was falling for him, he'd been an ever constant presence during her confinement period, as the foals grew and she became gradually heavier. The kicking had started a while back, a merry dancing of what felt like 10 foals inside her! They were healthy for sure, or they just liked playing 'kick Neve's insides around'.
It was in the early hours of the morning when she felt the first pains, a faint ripple of pain that sent her upper lip rolling back and her tail swishing. Not long after, the grass below her tail got a soaking as her waters broke..
The labour was relatively swift; although afterwards Neve would describe it as feeling endless, a train of foal after foal that she felt wasn't going to end! No matter that she'd only delivered three..she'd bore it as best as she could with no-one around to perform the midwifery duties that would help a first time mother. She'd wanted her own mother - for a brief, frightening moment when her flanks were covered in sweat, her sides heaving with the heavy blowing of her breath and she felt very much alone. The moment had passed, and she lay now in repose, regaining her energy as she stared in an awed silence at the 3 small bundles of life that she'd brought into the world.

Marius deemed himself to probably be the worst companion ever. He couldn't even stay by her side when she bore his - their - children, and what did that say about him? Well, it clearly said that he was horrible, that's what. He snorted as he eyed the entrance to their makeshift home, not hearing any sound or motion. His endless pacing slowed, and he finalyy realized how tired his legs were from constantly going back and forth. How long had he been out here, and she in there?
'Can't just stand out here... What if something went wrong? ... Oh, oh no, no. Nothing could've gone wrong!' His worrisome thoughts were what forced the stallion to come quite quickly through the dangling branches, not even bothering to peek in first. His two-toned eyes went immediatly to search for the mare he had grown quite attracted to, the one mare who was able to tempt and irritate him at the same time. "Neve--" His call for her cut short as he located her laying on the ground... Along with three bundles of joy.
His eyes widened as he took in the scene, and he walked towards her in awe. "Neve..." His voice, less panicky, was much more appreciative and filled with admiraion. He lowered his head to nuzzle her snout lightly, his eyes on the three foals. He had to blink quite hard, as he was sure he was seeing doubles. His thoughts weren't coherent, and neither were the wordswhich spilled from his mouth.
"Three? Okay, you foals?" He fumbled over his words, trying to align his thoughts. The stallion shook his head, chuckling softly. "Are you alright? And the foals..."

For a few moments Neve was all instinct; mother's instinct flaring up as someone who she thought was a stranger came bursting in on her with her newly born children. It was lucky for her that it was only a very anxious Marius as she had only the energy to rear from the ground a little, teeth bared.
Neve sunk back down onto the ground, sides heaving, her wings lightly fanning her damp body. 'Marius,' she mumbled, feeling the soft press of his nose against hers through the fog of exhaustion that was beginning to cloud her senses.
'They are fine,' she replied, blinking furiously as there was suddenly more than one Marius addressing her. Her vision cleared and she managed a smile for the stallion. 'They are well. Healthy. I am - tired.' she said, swaying a little. 'Can you help them..into baskets.' Neve's head flopped as her eyes closed. She just had to rest for a few moments, but their children had to be put into the security of the woven containers.

A deep chuckle rumbled his chords as he nodded to her words and request. He kept in a deep sigh of relief, overjoyed that his children and Neve were fine. When she put her head down and closed her eys, however, Marius' breath hitched a little before realizing she was simply resting. This time he let out his sigh, and with a soft smile turned to the three bundles. It didn't take long to ease them into their respective baskets. The one filly, the one with wing's of Neve, was put in the black and purple basket. The one that resembled him the most, the little colt, was easily nudged into the warmth of the black basket. And the colt with the Kalona wings, which sorely reminded him of Izusa's, was eased into the red basket. or children they were rather light, but he could not imagine the pain of carrying them all in a belly.
After the lids were placed on, Marius settled himself down by them, and by Neve, his eyes never leaving them. A little anxious, though he tried to hide it with his signature guarded look, he asked, "... So when do they come out?"

'When they are ready to,' Neve replied, having stirred again, watching him with her pale eyes. One eye had slid open at the sound of his movements as he put each foal into a basket that bore the child's colours, her heart touched at the tenderness he'd shown.
She very much hoped that she was just delusional from the pain, and tiredness she felt because a feeling struck her as she watched him and didnt want to let go. She had love for Marius.
Stupid, stupid.. she thought as she lay there looking over at him. It was a waste of time wasnt it? He'd already made his feelings clear. Maybe this was how her mother had felt. For the first time in a while she felt the tiniest bit of sympathy for Izusa. Unfortunately there was no way she would be reconciling with the Kalona, and she shook those thoughts from her mind. She felt a knot in her throat and she rubbed her face with her wing feathers, trying to regain her composure.

He nodded, but kept his face composed as he felt te sudden tension in the air. His eyes momentarily left the baskets that homed his children temporarily to the mare that bore them. The stallion's brows rose as he watched her rub her face with her wings. What was she doing? She was tired, yes, but didn't others rub their eyes when trying to wake up? Well, she did just have kids, so to him it was obviou she wanted to see their kids. He stared at her wiht his piercing bi-colored eyes, trying to assess what was wrong.
Marius cleared his throat next, laying so that he could have his chin on the grass and watch her from a closer distance. He kept his voice low and soft, his brows furrowing. "... Neve? Are you sure you're alright?" He blinked hard, swallowing. Had he already done something wrong? It didn't occur to him it was probably because of what they had discussed earlier. He was qute the dense stallion, to be honest, but he wasn't stupid. He attempted to nuzzle her wing, trying o nudge it aside to see her face.
There was this feeling of need to see her face, to hear her voice. It was becuase they were friends, right? More than friends - friends with kids. He swallowed a sigh, unsure of what to think.

She was annoyed with herself for letting things get to her. Neve looked back at him through her wing feathers, searching in his eyes with her own, trying to find - something which would tell her what he was thinking, how he was feeling.
'I'm..' she bit back on the word 'fine', the stock female answer that one gave when they weren't really fine, but didn't know how to articulate it, or when you knew that the one who had asked probably wouldn't get what was wrong. She folded the wing away, looking at him properly.
'I can't tell you.' she answered finally. 'I can't say how I feel, for all I know this is just because I'm so tired. And I know it's not something you would even want to hear.'

When their eyes locked, Marius relaxed a little. So he must have not done something wrong, since she'd at least look a him. He frowned a little when she didn't finish her sentence, which was quite frustrating. And her next response was even more so. He turned his head away for a moment, gazing at th ground for a moment, than to the three baskets, and than to her. He tilted his head towards her, lightly shaking it.
The dark stallion now knew what she was getting at. But... He wanted her to clarify. Maybe he could clarify his feelings as well. "You can't say how you feel, but you've put up with me throughout your pregnacy and birthed three foals," he started, watching her carefully, "If anything, telling me what is on your mind should be easier than all three of those." His tone was a little playful in hops of easing an answer out of her.
"It's about our relationship, isn't it?" His tone became harder, more serious out of habit. "I'd like to hear what you have to say."
