The Captain kept a stern look on the man as his visual computer transferred his image directly into his vision. His tone was controlled. "Mr. Bane, it's been quite a score months since our last meeting. I hope that you've come to me out of good will, but unfortunetely we aren't in the habit of employing outside assistance."

He pondered for a moment, deciding his course of action. This man worked for his own benefit, money, goods or other. As he wasn't any official part of the MIL, his loyalties could be easily shifted with the right persuasion. Having him on board would be dangerous thought...it was a risk to his crew and his ship that he didn't need. But....he was not a man to turn down a simple request.

Looking up, he answered politely: "Although I am currently carrying out a mission, I'll grant you access on one condition and that is to leave your Mobile Armour off while on board. Just a security mesure, you see..."

She had been waiting for too long: sitting, smiling, sorting files. Jaanii looked up from her work and gave a glance at the captain, nonchalantly playing with his knife, awaiting orders from the general. “As soon as he leaves”, she thought. “As soon as he leaves, I’ll have to go”. Her heart was beating faster by the second as she felt the coming task weighting on her shoulders. They had it all planned out; a few months back, the counsel entrusted Jaanii the mission of spying on the general and bringing back information to the MIL. She was not yet a very experienced agent but she had been trained well.

The young woman suddenly straightened up as the captain rose and began walking towards the elevator doors. “This is it,” she muttered as she grabbed hold of a file and walked swiftly towards the neighbouring elevator, distributing shy smiles as she crossed with the janitors. She stepped in the elevator: the doors shut in a loud metal clash. The young woman took a deep breath and locked the elevator in between two levels prior to looking around her; it was there, the trap door. A small square tile that looked like any other; but she knew. Her blouse fell, then her skirt, revealing a black flexible outfit. Jaanii jumped, moving the tile over. She then threw her skirt, blouse and the file she had borrowed for the operation on top the elevator. Unlocking the elevator, she then propelled herself on top, shivering at the contact of the cold metal.

“It’s going too fast”, she thought as the elevator gained in speed. “Way too fast”. She then saw the general’s private elevator, still climbing a few metres ahead. Without any hesitation, she jumped, clinging onto the cable that powered up the elevator. As it stopped, she slowly started her ascension, until she was able to sit on a metal bar situated on the elevator’s side. "Special Operations Captain Felix Chrystan, sight, smell, and hearing genetic modifications reporting for duty. Sir", she heard through the thin metal doors, as she grinned in satisfaction.

Pleased by Felix's proper execution of military procedure, Yuki quickly gave the captain a reply, "At ease, captain. Come forward and sit if you will." Making a sweeping open-handed gesture towards the two seats in front of his desk, Yuki noticed that in the short time the air had cleared dramatically. Without waiting for a physical or verbal response from Felix, Yuki turned and closed the window. So, UPF is even giving genetic modificationees positions of command now. It is to be expected seeing as the art of genetic manipulation has been refined very rapidly.

Turning back to the captain, Yuki gave Felix his mission briefings uninterrupted, "From what I've heard, you seem to be quite the one-man show... Well, this operation is of great importance. Such, you will be the head over an octet force. This mission will be focused more on stealth than on brute force. The array of 7 men under you will have varied capabilities neceassary for completing you task... Your duty is to infiltrate a rumored MIL continental base and retrieve critical information regarding any plans they may have. The fact that MIL is daring enough to attempt to establish a base on our home continent signifies that they must be planning some sort of offensive in the near future... You are to meet with your tactical force on the basement floor of this bulding, Miniware Room #4964... If you have any questions, please inquire now."

Many soldiers would kill for a mission such as this, especially the rarity of an octet formation. Cyan took advantage of the time he held to observe his surroundings. In his blunt opinion, this office was magnificent. Nothing flashy or ornamental was in sight and it was a relief to see the higher commands respect classic space. He felt at ease, nothing distracting except an annoying rustle behind him. Cyan decided to ignore this, thinking at most it could only be a rat or something. Elegant buildings are impressive, yet nothing is perfect. Relaying this mission over and over again in his mind, he committed the general's words to memory. There were a few questions he had formulated and he decided to address them in order of importance to him.

"Sir, there are a few questions and concerns I have about this operation. First, I will need full date and time on which the mission is to be executed. Furthermore, will I have radio back-up and observations for weather, surrounding vehicle probability, and possible chopper rescue if necessary? Is this mission naked or equipped? ((Like, procure weapons on site and etc))

Cyan hoped he hadn't asked too many questions, but there just wasn't a way to be too precautious. He needed to know every aspect, and he hadn't taken in the possibility the intel would already be in the basement. Hoping he wasn't being rude, Cyan made a bold move and pointed out what nuisance was still bothering him.

"Sir, not to be formal or anything, but it sounds as if you have a rodent problem in the elevator shafts. You should probably get those taken care of."

Yuki's robes shuffled as he placed his hands at his sides (they were clasped behind him formerly). Hearing Felix's list of valid questions, Yuki smirked before replying, "Ah, some very good questions indeed. The mission will start as soon as you arrive in the area later today. You should be driven in 1 mile from the suspected base, and the undergrowth surrounding should give adquate cover. From that point, you will have 2 hours at the most. Some minor mechanized forces and scouts have been sent to sweep an adjacent sector. It is likely that this will draw MIL's attention, though for what amount of time is uncertain. They won't risk destroying any of our machines due to risk of exposure. Knowing their tactics, they'll most likely sneak around and draw us away to a farther zone."

He paused, realizing that his explanation had been very detailed. Giving ample time for the captain to absorb the information, he proceeded, "Wireless communication will be open. It is imperative that you not reply to our transmissions once inside... The weather in that region is humid but clear... there is a low chance of vehicular enounter, because the operation of mechanized or motorized machines increases their chance of being found... Air rescue will only be provided if more than 4 of your team falls. If you fall, the other men have been isnrtucted to abort immediately. If none of the mentioned occurs and the mission is acomplished, the truck that transported you off should be waiting at your drop-off point..."

Felix's last question, one over which Yuki had sole authority to choose, was a difficult one to decide upon. Finding his answer, he responded, "You will be supplied with equipment, though it will be minimal. Heavy weaponry and un-needed utilities will be left behind... Does that cover everything?"

Yuki stood, thinking about his personal policies regarding information security. He knew that prime information on the mission was to be discolsed on a need-to-know bare-minimum basis. Yuki found it ludicrous to send out soldiers without at least one among their ranks knwoing the full extent of the quest. Such, he was often more open with information in general, a quality which the other generals always disapproved of.

At Felix's comment reagrding vermin, Yuki looked over at the shaft's walls without any suspicion. "I'll call maintinence about that."

Jaanii shivered; they were calling maintenance. It was not too late to save herself... and the continental base. The base was, in fact, a project that was being developped by one of the counsel members, out West; many important members of the MIL were currently headed there. She had to advise them, but for now the most important thing was to get out of here. “Rodents”, the young woman thought, clenching her jaw as she looked around for a way to escape, her heart pounding, her breath short If they found her here... she shook her head. Now was not the time to doubt.

“Think. Think!” The cable? It was risky, but her only hope. Jaanii slipped on gloves and swung down from the metal bar, grabbing hold of the cable, letting herself slide down the elevator cable at what seemed like incredible speed. When she reached the one she had left off, she heard voices coming from atop. Swinging swiftly on top the elevator, she took hold of her blouse, skirt and file and let herself slide back in the elevator, pushing the tile back in place as she did so. Jaanii slipped on her blouse and skirt and reajusted her hair before pressing the unlock button, releasing the elevator which continued raising.

Her legs collapsed under her; she slid down the wall and rested her head on her knees, staying silent a few instants. Suddenly looking up, she let out a giggle “Rodents...”.

((If you consider this a second barge in, I apologize. I had to do something though, because you didn't give me much to work off in terms of landing.))

"A fair condition." Bane answered through his own link, "A fair condition. Shall I board then? I assume any docking bay will do?"

Bane had actually been floating just outside one of the many docking bays of the Albatross, waiting for the final go-ahead. He had received it, so what point in there was waiting? When Alex couldn't find one, he simply headed on in. And to no surprise, he had a rather, "welcoming" greeting.

His welcome party was loaded down with all kinds of weapons, each one of them pointed at him. It more or less amused Bane further, honestly. He found it extremely entertaining that someone would go to such lengths, just to contain one mercenary. Sure, mercenaries could easily be swayed with the right amount of persuasion, but they still had their honor. Ah, what kind of power stereotypes had.

So, he powered down. His armor disappeared, revealing his blue pants and jacket. A white shirt could be seen under the jacket, as well as a necklace with something resembling a dragon attached. And with a smile on his face, he flicked the hair from his eyes so that he could get a better view of the room. Blue, piercing eyes covered the room, taking in every detail. It was an interesting place.

"Now now, boys." Alex spoke to the armed men as if he were talking about the weather, "Calm down. I'm here because your captain said I could. You don't need to worry about me."

Off course, they probably still would. He was sure of it. He still had his sword with him, the Caladbolg. And it was the one thing that Fukumen wouldn't take from him. Bane was pretty sure of that.

Cyan absorbed the information; he knew what was to be done. And he knew the responsibility given to him. He would not fail, at any costs.

"Understood, sir!"

After a final salute, Cyan turned about face and stepped into the elevator. Ignoring the mixed smell of burning and perfume, he started to break out in shivers. Chance had landed favorably upon him. This mission was of utmost importance, so he was told. Unable to control himself, after the elevator doors had shut, he lit himself a cigarette. Posh on the system if a soldier couldn't smoke in an elevator; besides, he'd break the limbs of anyone who told him to put it out. When the elevator doors finally opened again, he saw a great corridor.

"#4964, where in bloody Hell is that?"

Not wasting anytime, he rapidly checked all of the room numbers until he found it. Opening the door, Cyan observed seven already slacking soldiers. Sleeping, playing poker and one even had the nerve to be flexing in a mirror. They hadn't noticed his entrance, so Cyan abused this to pick up the clipboard lying on a sack of whatever on his right side. A list of specialties matched with names, personalities, years of service and experience, and former squads. On the next page was a list of equipment and a small map with geographical detail. Cyan was greatly impressed with the clipboard; however, he could not think the same about the impression of his new men. As he lit another cigarette he announced himself to the team.

"Well, this ought to be an interesting day. Men, suit up."

Daniel was sat in a waiting transport, holding his rifle across his chest. His men were sat in the other positions, awaiting deployment. He read the groups black operations objectives in his pda and reaffirmed his equipment. The sniper weapon on his back was folded to no larger than a medium sized book. He put on his helmet and heard the crackle of communications.

After the doors had closed behind Felix, Yuki sat and pondered aloud, "Those 7 do have the qualifications, yet they are still just soldier rank. At least among of their number is probably a vagrant, looking for some thrill, combat, and money. Regardless, Felix should be able to keep them in line well enough."

Yuki then lifted the receiver and dialed for maintinence. The phone rung only once before the call was answered. After the standard intro from the maintinence department, Yuki spoke, "Yes, this is General Daruma. We have a potential rodent problem. Inspect the area post-haste." No waiting for a response, he hung up the phone and opened a drawer on his desk. Taking a few files from within the filecabinet-like drawer, he began intensely scanning each one in turn.

"Yasume!, Fukumen shouted as he stepped out of the sliding doors and into the docking bay. As speedy as a military command, all guns were taken off of the mercenary, holstered and strapped. Fukumen's steps were slow yet commanding. As he descended each step towards the floor, he spoke in a strong alto voice.

"You'll have to excuse them. Only procedure for those we aren't as familiar with, since you never really know who to trust these days. I hope you didn't find us particularly on purpose, since that would mean that I'm losing my touch." He chuckled, but it was dry. Advancing to nearly 5 feet in front of Bane, he held out his hand in greeting. "I am Fukumen, Captain of the battleship Albatross, free-agent to these waters."
PostPosted: Fri Dec 14, 2007 11:05 pm

"It's not a problem at all. Procedure is procedure after all." Bane replied as Fukumen approached him. He watched Fukumen very closely, and measured the reactions of the Captain's men. It was interesting. Fukumen's presence alone commanded full attention and respect.

"It is very true, Captain. We can't know who to trust these days. Precautions are certainly necessary." He took the Captain's hand in acknowledgment of his introduction, "Alexander Bane, more commonly known as Wing Man in the Mercenary world. You have given me a place to stay, and so in return I will gladly help with whatever you happen to be tasked with. Is there a place in which we can speak privately?"

Daniel's crew were over their drop point, the beaches of Peruro. Dutifully, he stood and leapt from the ship first, his grav chute carrying him down , hovering a few feet from the ground before letting him drop at the end. He cocked the rifle as his troops dropped too, along with their supplies. Plasteel pods that would let them bury and make impenetrable shelters in the beaches sand. They got to work constructing their makeshift defenses as light artillery troops arrived with mortars, machine guns and missile launchers. He himslef buried into the sand, patient for the attack.

Jaanii walked hastily towards the exit, throwing the file behind the desk as she passed it. She had to reach Esperantos before night fall, so that a warning could be issued to all members working for the MIL; there would be an attack on their continental base. The chrome doors opened for her and the warm and humid air surrounded the young woman; her hands were clenched into fists, as she felt panic overcome her. "What if I'm too late?", Jaanii thought, now running towards her small shuttle. She jumped inside, started the engine and, at incredible speed, headed towards the coast. "They won't get us this time", she whispered as the red radar shone upon her face, revealing a tear.

The phone rang loudly, startling Yuki a bit. Picking up the receiver, he replied to the information, "Yes... All right... That's fine... You needn't fret..." His anger having been lightly kindled by the other's last remakr made him slam down the phone. Standing rapidly, he strode with a professional gait toward the elevator. So, I'll be entering combat again. This should be fun Arriving quickly one floor lower, he made his way to his private store-room. Acquiring he needed supplies after a retinal authorization, he hustled back into his elevator, going to the ground level. He then hopped on a regular elevator and ascended one floor. Emerging, he could clearly see the suspended path to the hangar a few hundred yards away. I never would've thought I'd be the distraction whle somebody else played as the sting. ...and I'm only reinforcements to boot.
