"Lazy cat, that's me," Chui said with a little laugh. "I haven't hunted anything bigger than the smallest furry thing in the jungle for as long as I've lived there." He turned his eyes to the horizon as she had a while back. "Yes, I climb trees. But the only thing that's really good for is sleeping, and escaping the ground when it rained." A smirk was on his face when he turned his attention back to her.
"Besides, we're the biggest things in that place. Leopards and cheetahs, I mean to say. So the only you'd ever have to worry about is running from are the few of us that live in there." A pause. "And trust me, you won't be doing much running."
He sounded so sure, but as with anything there aren't any guarantees. In actuality, Chui had yet to explore the entirety of the jungle, but what he said was true for the half of it that he's actually been to. And...well, with the little things he'd hunted for most of his life, it was hard to believe that there was anything bigger in the heap of trees, leaves, and shrubbery.

She was interested by his talk of climbing trees, of course, because it was something she could not do. It was as if she were leaning forward, like a child in school desperate to learn and answer questions for their favorite teacher. When he finished, she smiled slowly, "Yes, but you can also escape predators that are on the ground." She nodded, admiring a trait that he was not currently exhibiting, but nevertheless impressed, "I can only run, and without flat ground, I would be out of breath and someone's meal in no time."
His next statements, however, provided her with an answer and she inclined her head in agreement. She was concerned on one small bit, "No rogue lions venture in sometimes? Just to explore?" This jungle place was sounding better and better. She was having to remind herself of it's cramped spaces and the inviting nature of an open plain. In her heart, she could never leave the wide savannah, but the jungles were certainly a tempting spot.
The idea that he had only ever hunted small game made her smile as if he were joking. Once she realised he wasn't, however, her blue eyes widened as she inquired, "You've never even killed a gazelle?" That seems impossible and her face expressed just that, "Not so long as you've lived there?"

"Yes, I can escape from predators. But it's not that useful for that particular thing, as there's really nothing I'd need to run from."
He laughed softly at her heightening interest and curiosity about the jungle. "A rogue lion every once in a while, yes, but hardly ever. And they don't go too deep into the jungle. I think they use the jungle as a safe-haven if they're passing by and need to rest for a day or two." He paused to think back to the few times he'd run into rogue lions. "The only fully grown rogue I ran into," he went on to say, "was near the border, and once when I was younger I ran into a lioness cub not too far from here."
He swished his tail a little at the thought of eating just a few times a day, as compared to having to hunt constantly to keep himself from starving. "I haven't laid eyes on a gazelle for a long, long time," came his reply, "And unless I leave I doubt I'll be able to anytime soon."
He lay back down and yawned, closing his eyes and feeling a sudden urge to take a nap then and there. Of course, that would be rude, so he opened his eyes and inclined his head so he had a good view of her. "It's not so bad, even if it's got a limited space. If anything, it's a great place to rest when you really have to. You're not vulnerable if you sleep in the right spot at least."

Her smile broadened as he laughed at her, seeing as it was obvious he meant no harm by it. As he spoke of the few rogues he had stumbled across (or had stumbled acrossed him) in and around the mysterious jungle, her blue eyes didn't stray from him. She was attentative, that much could be said with certainty. Stories held interest, even when paraphrased. Leaning heavily on one haunch, her tail curled around her hindlegs as she listened.
"I'll drag one your way some day." She grinned at him, ears flicking away a fly as she watched the signs of his obvious desire. A nap sounded good, but Tuli was starting to get hungry. Nevertheless, she smiled at the leopard and spoke,
"I would suggest finding such a place to sleep." She inclined her head slightly so that her own head's tilt mirrored his own. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Chui, but my stomach is telling me it's time to go find a gazelle, myself."

He nodded and sat up all the way, a smile spread across his maw. "Same to you, Tuli." Chui stood and yawned a little, tail and ears flicking simultaneously. It really was about time he took his daily 4 hour nap before his before-dinner snack. With the thought of sleep still heavy in his mind he turned his body toward the jungle, looking back at the cheetah for one last word.
"You should come visit sometime. I'll teach you how to climb to a low branch on a tree if you bring me that gazelle." The male grinned and looked ahead, head hanging slightly as he began walking back home.

She laughed softly at his proposition, tail swaying as she pulled herself to her feet as well. For once, she was sad to watch someone go, but at least he would be easier to find than anyone else she happened on. Her ears flicked as they swivelled back, tilting her head to one side though the smile didn't fade. Sleep definitely sounded good now, but her stomach gave a rebellious rumble.
"Sounds like a plan. I'll see you again." Smiling, she turned as well and began in the direction she had last scented a herd of gazelle. They were awhile off, but it wouldn't take long to catch up. Glancing over her shoulder at Chui one last time, she shook her head and trotted off.
