"Yeah, whatever," he mumbled under his breath. His mother could care less. His father at least made the effort to come out and retrieve him, despite the fact Smolder was almost certain he could've found his own way back to the cave.
Tiny hooves stomped their way through the forest, his head still hanging low. What was he supposed to be doing again? Oh yeah, that's right... going back to the cave, to the family that didn't really want him.
His stomach growled, and he glanced about, suddenly hungry. The grass looked dead, and didn't appeal to his taste buds anyhow. The thought of leftover apples sent a wave of nausea over him. What in the heck was wrong with him?!
Shaking his head, he pushed aside thoughts of hunger, and concentrated on being angry with his family and father.

He shook his head, unsure of his next move to make. It was painfully obvious that Smolder was upset at him, and Daray hadn't the faintest clue on how to turn things around. He was upset that his son was upset, but vastly relieved at the fact nothing life-threatening had happened to him. The situation could have ended up far more worse than it had been, he told himself. He just thanked his lucky stars that he had found his son alive, breathing, and not too scratched up, aside from that sickening gash in his side.
"It could have been much worse," he echoed in his mind as he continued home, eyeing the edge of the forest yards ahead of them, "Much much worse."
