Kainalu would no doubt know she’s changing once it starts, though noticing the first signs might be a bit trickier for her.
Her otherwise tan skin on her fingers start to become a much darker, dull grey colour, coupled by the fact they soon start developing thick over laying scales blending seamlessly into the skin of her wrists. And then over course there’s the new webbing.
The Wave then sends its change downwards, to focus on her feet. Her toes appear to thicken, as they merge together, leaving her with only three toes on each foot. All notably stronger than natural, perhaps a sign of things to vome?
And her teeth feel….sharper?
