Now, for the boy that played Eragon, I thought his acting was quite adequate. Jeremy Irons acting was good. Now, I know their character were nothing like those of the books at all. But, the actual acting was good nonetheless.
And, I agree that his work isn't the greatest, but just at such an age is a great feat in my eyes. Although, I do see a lot of David Eddings and Piers Anthony in his writings. Almost taken directly. There may be much more. I just noticed those two authors. Also, some from Tolkien. Although, most fantasy authors do take from him whether it is on purpose or not. I agree that he should begin writing something else that doesn't involve The Inheritance Trilogy. Well, it's going to be four books now, but you get my meaning. All the same, I enjoyed the movie, and I love the first book. I will be reading Eldest soon.

I don't think we can blame the actors for bad acting when it's what they were given to work with...
Piers Anthony ... really? *blinks* Which series of his? I've read Xanth and the Incarnations of Immortality... but he has at least half a dozen others. .. Anthony's writing is amusing and good in small doses, but he falls into the same stereotypes again and again (and they're stereotypes that I especially don't like, often) ... but he manages to get by somehow. I put it down to good plot, because you never quite know what's about to happen next. I know its not characterization.
I see alot of Anne McCaffrey (sure I misspelled it) ... but that's because she was the first fantasy writer (as far as I know) that had dragons as a centerpiece, working with humans, bonded to humans, and able to speak telepathically.
EDIT: I forgot to add that the movie is utter s**t as a movie version of Eragon. As a dragon fantasy movie, it was good.
