Journal: Kimie
Through a mutual friend, I've found someone specializing in fertilization. She's a science-loving fallen angel who splices animal DNA into a fertile egg to create biological children. I'm thinking of going to see her. As far as I know, I'm able to have children-- I've just never had anyone with whom to share that responsibility. With Evan getting older (although he's certainly still a handful.. and probably always will be!) I find myself wanting a child of my own blood. I think a sibling closer to his age would be good for him. Danica grew so quickly, she's more like an older cousin, I think. I'm glad she and Elenore are getting along so well. I wonder if she'd be willing to move down to the basement... I need a house with more bedrooms. Ah well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. If I get to it.

RP: Farland Clinic (Starts here) Kimie Kitty Kimie padded into the clinic quietly, her long striped tail waving behind her. She'd left Evan with Danica and Elenore-- this should be a private meeting. The young woman made her way to the reception desk. "Excuse me, I'm looking for someone called Farland..." Farland A small and delicate woman was standing at the counter, her dark dusky fur shineing softly as curious red eyes peeked out from behind a mop of golden hair. She gave a small smile an nodded " Ill go get her for you " she said and retreated into the back room, small golden hoves clicking softly on the tile floor, and her tiny faun tail flicking back and forth. After a moment Another woman, much taller and more willowly then delicate, come out from the back room, two small golden wings protrudeing from her silken hair, and One large angelic wind folded to her back. She gave a soft smile, the small mork on her chest on the rise of her breast the only mark that she was one who had fallen from heaven. " Hello there " she said, the longer feathers of her wings brushing softly against the floor as she made her way to the main counter, the deer woman off busy in the back room somewere. " Im Farland, i heard you were looking for me? " she asked, curiosity flicking in her crimson eyes. Kimie Kitty "Thank you," she nodded at the young woman's departing figure. When the older woman approached, Kimie stuck out one slim hand to shake. "My name is Kimie Catclaw. I'd heard that you were helping people have children of their own." She smiled, her green eyes betraying her hope and excitement. Farland Farland smiled, takeing the womans hands, curling her slender fingers in her hand. " Nice to Meet you Kimi, im Farland Freefall *she said with a smile* And yes, here we help people to have children of their own *she said, her eyes glinting softly* byt the children here are mixed with DNA of various animals *she explained rather simply, as if it was something that could be done as simple as breathing* Kimie Kitty Kimie nodded, not particularly surprised at that last comment. After all, she was part feline herself. "Yes, I'd heard that. Very interesting. Is it a science- or magic-based process? I have two adopted children, but no biological ones," she explained. Farland Farland smiled ' A mixture of both actualy. The reason why i am not hom anymore, the prosess if very hard if only science or magic is used, often the child is lost, but if you blend the two, there is a very high sucsess rate. In fact, there has never been a bad case in this clinic before ' she said, rather proud of the clinic. Kimie Kitty "That makes sense," Kimie replied, leaning against the reception desk. "What kinds of cases have you handled?" She brushed her hair out of her face and adjusted her glasses. It was rather strange to be somewhere without a toddler in tow-- she didn't quite know what to do with her hands. Farland She smiled " You saw the Deer woman at the counter before? She was one of the first Farland children, and is also my daughter " she smiled loveingly " She is mized with the DNA of an Axis Deer. Also very shortly a pair or twin dragons should be born, and a snake child.. along with some others but most have yet to be born. " Kimie Kitty "Oh, she's your daughter? I can see the resemblance, now that I think of it. She's lovely." Kimie nodded. "I have to say, I'm very interested, Farland." Her ears moved slightly, making her gentle smile a bit more feline. Farland Farland smiled happily " Dont let her hear you say that, shell get all flustered " she said with a grin. She looked over the catwoman, a delicate eyebrow raised as she smiled " Realy now? Have any particular animal in mind? " she said with a grin, the wings on her head fluttering slightly. Kimie Kitty Kimie returned the grin. Her own daughter didn't like being called attractive either. "Hm, well I've always been particularly fond of ring-tailed lemurs. Cats as well, of course, but I dare say that would be a bit repetitive." The young woman had clearly relaxed some, her usual cheerful nature in place. Farland " Oooh, lemurs! Delightfull creatures " she said with a smile, remembering what she had nearled about the animals, was always one to love smoething with a fluffy tail. " A Lemur child would be no probilum at all " She said with a grin, she herself starting to relax, letting her wing unfold slightly, letting it droop behind her more carefully. Kimie Kitty "Really? Lemurs have always amused me-- when I was younger I used to wonder why I was born a feline anthro instead of a lemur." Kimie giggled at the memory. "How would I.. go about this.. procedure," she asked, not quite sure what to call it. "In order to have a lemur child, I mean." The very tip of her tail twitched. Farland " Its realy rather simple, First you need to get pregnant ' she said, looking at her ' If you do not have... someone else, thats quiet alright " she said with a grin " If you are to be the only parent its quiet alright. The prosess that is part magic is to create a spark of life, useing some of your life-force. Then, useing technology, we add DNA of wichever animal firectly into the blood stream feeding into the child, The other part that we use magic for is To let those cells blend perfectly with the child, so no harm comes to the baby or yourself. I would say the only part that woud even sting in the tinyist bit is the shot, and mabey some of the check-ups to make sure the baby is developing well. Though sence the baby is a lemur we woudent need to do as many checkups. Those are mostly for children with apendeges such as wings and horns. ' She said, explaining it the best she could, though they would ahve to take care if wantching the development of the childs tale, if it were to get caught and tangeled with the umbilicle cord that might prove to be slightly dificult to fix. Kimie Kitty Kimie suppressed a blush. "I'm a single parent, yes. That's the main reason why my children are adopted." She listened to the rest of the explanation, filing away information. "That doesn't seem terribly painful or intrusive, and lemurs are shaped enough like felines that it wouldn't be any more foreign than having a child of my own race." Farland Farland couldent help but giggel " Darling, im a single parent to, Fauns only parent is me " she said with a grin " well... and the Deer DNA but you get it " she nodded " I suppose it would, sence your body is already adapted to a child with a long tail. " she said, though SHE on the otherhand was not adapted to have a child with ravor sharp hooves. And it hurt... sweatdrop " Its not to painfull, trust me, i tested it on myself " she said with a soft grin, sence she DID get faun out of that test she hadent minded to much. Kimie Kitty "Good to know you've done it yourself, really. Reassuring, I suppose." A quick glance at her watch caused Kimie to flinch. "I'm so sorry, but I promised my elder daughter I'd be home in time for her to go out this evening. I can come back some time, or you can give me a phone call..?" She started digging through her purse for a pencil. Farland Kimie Kitty "Good to know you've done it yourself, really. Farland nodded " Ill call you, ill even ring for some Lemur DNA tonight if you are realy interested. " She said, noteing that faun was peeking shyly out frmo around the corner, wich realy was a rather child-like act for a fully grown woman.. but farland guesed that was her deer DNA kicking in. Kimie Kitty Kimie finally located a pen and a scrap of paper and scribbled her name and cell number. "That would be great. Here." She handed over the paper, noticing Faun in her peripheral vision. "Thank you, and I hope to see you soon." The catgirl turned and flashed a quick smile and a wave at Faun on her way out the door. [end] ((Backdated 8/9/05))

Journal: Kimie (About this) I went back to visit Farland this afternoon. I've been a bit ill since I got home, but the procedure itself was relatively painless. I think Danica suspects something, but I have no idea how to explain all this to Evan. He's confused enough about where babies come from. Ah well, it'll work out, I'm sure. I think I need a nap; maybe then the room will stop spinning.

RP: Farland Clinic Starts hereAmyla Edana Amyla ambled to a couch and settled herself down, eyeing a stack of magazines on a nearby table. Hmmm... perhaps reading would take her mind off the fact that her mate was acting like a child again. She grinned and picked up a magazine and flipped i open, snorting aloud in amusement at the article title.
The Joys of Fatherhood
Aiodhan, meanwhile, spotted a woman reading what had formerly been an upside-down magazine. True to his antagonistic self, he padded up behind her and quietly leaned over to see what she was reading. "What're you reading about?"" he asked rather suddenly and loudly enough to get her attention. Kimie Kitty It had been a few days since Kimie had been at the clinic. With Evan on one hip and a diaper bag over her other shoulder, the kitty-girl traipsed in. "Ay-oh!" the little boy shrieked, right into his mother's ear. He waved and squirmed to be put down. Kimie winced and set him down, weaving around various chairs and people to plop down. She was exhausted, her usually flat belly already slightly rounded. Amyla Edana His attempt at being himself momentarily forgotten, Aiodhan cocked his head to one side as he heard a cheerfully familiar voice call his name. He glanced about until he spotted an exhausted-looking Kimie. "Aha... where's Evan?" he asked rhetorically, glancing around knee-height for the toddler.
Amyla looked up from her reading with a smile. "Long time, no see, Kimie," she said by way of greeting, watching Aiodhan look about for his little friend. What a softy... "How are you feeling... besides tired?" she asked, tossing the magazine back on the table. It had been rather boring anyway. Kimie Kitty "Hey, I'm glad you guys found the place," Kimie said, waving at Amyla. "And... I'm OK. Mostly tired, a little nauseous..." She made a face. Evan clung to Aiodhan's leg, grinning up at him. "Hiiii!" Kimie couldn't help but giggle. "And I see Evan found you." Amyla Edana "Hi, Evan!" Aiodhan said cheerfully, gently patting the little halfling on the head with his tailtip. "What have you been doing? I haven't seen you in awhile. Avoiding bedtime still?" he asked, chuckling lightly and giving Kimie a knowing look.
Amyla rolled her eyes. "Some big tough guy he is," she muttered to Kimie, ignoring the dark look the dragon-man sent in her direction. Her gaze softened after a moment, and she grinned. "I don't remember if I got to say it before, but congratulations. Wish you weren't feeling so nauseous, though... sounds miserable," she added with a look of sympathy. "And yes, we found it. It took us the better part of a day, and we argued the whole time." Her grin widened further. "Not that that's anything new. Thanks for helping us find it. We've got the proper papers in, and we're just waiting and hoping for now." Kimie Kitty "Bad bed. Not fun," Evan grumbled, his chin firmly set. A few seconds later, he'd gotten over his crankiness and started climbing on Aiodhan's tail. Kimie snickered. "No, really, you argued?" She grinned at the other woman. "I really hope you get chosen. I know how much you want a child." Evan, only partially aware of the situation, piped up, "'Meela get fat like mommy?" Amyla Edana "Nooo, bed isn't fun. Swimming is.. and flying. And... oh, like my tail do you?" Aiodhan asked rather suddenly, watching as Evan climbed onto his tail. He smirked and lifted the tail-- complete with toddler-- up to his own eye level.
Amyla grinned and waggled her eyebrows. "Oh, of course we argued. No day would be complete without it," she remarked. "And thanks... we're both really hoping too. But if we don't, then... well, there's always next time," she shrugged, laughing aloud at Evan's childish query. "Hopefully, Evan. Maybe soon," she replied, ignoring Aiodhan's choking laughter. Kimie Kitty "Ev no fly. Ev stomp bugs!" He stamped his foot (albeit not very hard) on the dragon-man's tail to demonstrate. "Ev big, see?" The little halfling clung to various parts of Aiodhan's anatomy to keep from falling. His mother watched the proceedings carefully, although she trusted "Ay-oh" implicitly-- even though he did look like he might choke on something. "Don't forget to breathe," Kimie reminded him, trying to keep a straight face. Evan blinked, having no clue of why the adults were laughing so hard. Amyla Edana "Yes, I can see that, Evan," Aiodhan gasped, still laughing at the thought of the ever-thin Amyla being 'fat.' "I can see you're big. Do you think you'll get as big as me some day?" he asked, trying to curl the end of his tail about the halfling's waist to steady him.
Amyla let slip a rare giggle. "If we ever do have a child with even half of Evan's energy, they'll run poor 'Ay-oh' into the ground,' she remarked, watching Evan use him as a jungle gym. Kimie Kitty "Ev will be big like Ay-oh," he nodded. "Big and stomp lots'a bugs!" He bounced happily at the thought. Kimie grinned. "This child," -she patted the small mound of her belly- "is part lemur. So expect he or she will be... energetic as well." Amyla Edana Aiodhan chuckled and folded his legs beneath him to settle on the ground, trying to figure out how to untangle Evan from his tail. "Stomping bugs, eh? I need to teach you how to wrestle. It's more fun," he said thoughtfully, watching the toddler bounce.
Amyla's eyes widened. "Part lemur? You're brave, very brave. I'd be too afraid they'd try to hang off the eaves outside... like someone else I know," she said, throwing Aiodhan a dirty look. "How will you survive the energy levels in your house?" Kimie Kitty Evan clambered down to sit on Aiodhan's lap. "What ressl?" he asked, cocking his head to the side. "Big thing?" "I'm not sure, exactly, although I'm sure I'll manage. Danica's a blessing, although I try not to use her as an all-purpose babysitter." Kimie glanced around the room, and waved a bit at the newcomers. Amyla Edana "Wrestling is... trying to get on top of somebody and holding them down," the dragon-man explained, idly twitching his long tail about and carefully re-folding his wings.
"Well, if you need help or a good long nap, we wouldn't mind watching Evan and the baby for you," Amyla offered, settling back into the couch. "Aiodhan would love that, and Evan would have a field day with all of the dragons we've got roaming the house and property," she added with a chuckle. She saw Kimie's gaze move and followed it, giving the newer arrivals curious looks and friendly smiles. She saw one woman glance in their direction and waved. Kimie Kitty "Ya know, I just might take you up on that some time. Maybe when I'm a bit closer to being due." Kimie smiled inwardly at the thought of Evan playing with a bunch of dragons. "I'm sure Evan would love that." Meanwhile, Evan was sitting very still, intrigued by this new "ressling" thing. Suddenly, he pounced! He clung fiercely to Aiodhan's foot. Amyla Edana "Well, any time you need, let us know," Amyla said cheerfully, grinning broadly at Evan and Aiodhan. "I'm sure they'd both get a kick out of that. Speaking of... what are they doing?" she asked, raising an eyebrow in her mate's direction.
Aiodhan hid a grin and quickly made as if his foot were struggling to get free. "Oh no! He's got my foot! Help meee!" he said in a rather high-pitched voice, his foot squirming about in Evan's grip. Kimie Kitty "Um.. Evan seems to be beating him up." Kimie raised a brow at the pair. "Yes yes, you're very strong." Evan giggled. "Ev big! Ev win!" He jumped up and flung himself at Kimie. "See? See?" Kimie grabbed her wriggling son before he could land on her stomach. "I did see! You're very big." She ruffled his hair, grinning at Aiodhan over his head. "I think we should let Ay-oh recover, hm?" Evan clambered down to the floor and patted Aiodhan. Amyla Edana Aiodhan let out a loud and rather dramatic moan. "Ohhh... Evan's too strong for me!" He gave Kimie and Amyla a rogueish wink and then walked on all fours to settle on the floor near his mate, resting his chin and arm on her lap.
"Yep, you won, Evan. Aiodhan needs to exercise and lift more weights to get stronger," Amyla said with a perfectly straight face, absentmindedly running her fingers through Aiodhan's messy hair.
Aiodhan gave a loud sigh. "You win, Evan. You win. I should let you wrestle with Adi next time. She'll be able to beat you," he said, feigning exhaustion rather well. Kimie Kitty Evan practically strutted in front of the dragon-man and the two women. "Ev ressl 'gen, Ev win, Ev good." He nodded emphatically. Kimie tried (and failed) not to snort. Gathering up the diaper bag, which also served as a purse, most days, she heaved herself out of her chair. "Well, you two, I'm sure I'll be seeing you around. Best of luck!" Evan bounced around, holding onto Kimie's hand. "Bye bye, bye bye!" he chanted, his voice still audible even as he led the way out the door. Kimie waved her free hand, acknowledging the other occupants of the clinic, as she followed her rather hyper-active son out of the building.

Amyla wasn't quite sure what motivated her to stop by Kimie's house on her way home from work in lieu of calling. Regardless of why, though, she found herself just outside the front door, Aiodhan only seconds behind her since she'd called him to give warning as to where she'd be. She'd been itching to tell her friend the good news ever since the notice arrived, and now the opportunity was finally here. She only hoped Kimie would have a minute to spare.
Aiodhan, meanwhile, had been the more sensible one for the first, and possibly only, time ever, and he had snagged the letter and plate of cookies as he walked-- or rather flew-- out the door to meet Amyla at the Catclaw residence. He was nervous now, more so than he had been the first time-- no, no, now was not the time to be thinking about that. He didn't want to say anything potentially inappropriate or embarassing in front of Kimie, or worse, in front of Evan.
Amyla smiled happily back at the dragon-man as he backwinged to land behind her, careful not to disturb any of the flowers nearby. He created quite a downdraft while flying, and that often had a negative impact on fragile plants. Thankfully, the flowers didn't look too badly damaged, if at all. "Good thing you've got me," the half-human muttered, handing the plate to Amyla. "And it's a good thing I can fly better now."
His mate rolled her eyes rather affectionately at him and then turned back to the door, knocking on it rather softly so as not to awaken the entire household were it naptime.

As a matter of fact, it had been naptime. Well, no. Kimie had fallen asleep on the couch in the living room, having spent much of the night before awake and dry-heaving. Visitors? Oh no.. the house was a mess... she thought, struggling to sit upright. Urgh. This pregnancy thing wasn't so pleasant after all.
Finally making her way through the mess to the front door, she scrubbed her bleary eyes and pushed her hair out of her face. "Hello?" she croaked, opening the door a few inches.

Amyla cringed. Her timing was horrible, as always. "I guess I did catch you at a bad time. Sorry..." she said apologetically. Damn it... she should have called first! "We'll leave the offering of food and stop by another time, then."
Behind her, Aiodhan winced as well. Oops.. well, lesson learned.

"Hey. Oh. Um. No, it's OK," Kimie stuttered. "Come on in, I needed to get up anyway." She opened the door wider and waved the two in. "The food is appreciated though, I haven't exactly felt like cooking lately." Padding down the hall to the kitchen, she tried to wake up a bit more. Just as she began to wonder where the rest of the family was, a note taped to the fridge answered her.
"Mum-
Took Evan to the park. You needed the rest.

Still furious with herself, Amyla reluctantly walked inside, chuckling a bit as Aiodhan ducked in behind her. Oh, how he hated doors. "I''m afraid I didn''t make you a meal, but if you''d like, Aiod has been itching to try out his new grill," she added as she kicked her shoes off and followed Kimie to the kitchen.
The dragon-man snorted. "You mean you''re not still paranoid that I''ll singe my wings off if I use the thing?" he asked rather grumpily, folding his wings tightly against his back.
Amyla grinned. "Wasn''t your wings I was worried about," she replied before turning back to her friend. "Still feeling nauseous a lot?"

Kimie giggled. "Something grilled would be great. I've got a family of carnivores." She set the cookies on the counter and pocketed the note from Danica. Taking a look around, she winced. "Don't mind the mess, the living room should be a bit better." Fitting actions to her words, she led her guests to the living room. Thirty seconds of moving stuff around later, the room was relatively presentable. She curled up on the couch with a pillow in her arms. "Please, have a seat." She waved at a couple of comfortable chairs and the giant bean bag in the corner. "And yeah.. I've been a bit sick. Last night was the worst so far." She made a face.

Aiodhan grinned and squeezed his way through to the living room. "You call this messy? Wait 'til you see what happened to our house when we were... erm... unavailable for awhile," he said with a wink at the mortified Amyla. "And what would you like? Fish, hot dogs, hamburgers... flank steak... and I have no idea what else is sitting in our freezer..." he asked, more than eager to try out his new 'toy.'
Amyla groaned and settled herself on a chair, her face buried in her hand. "Aiodhan, why must you always-... no, never mind." She shook her head and sighed. He had no tact, absolutely none. Recovering after a moment, she gave Kimie an apologetic grin. "I'm still training him. Forgive his random outbursts of inappropriate things," she said, ignoring the glare her mate sent in her direction. "Oh, and I talked to one of the obstetricians at the hospital, and he recommended shavings of fresh ginger when you get sick. And salty foods help too since it dries up the excess saliva that makes you feel ill," she added.

Kimie snorted at the dragon-man's indelicacy. "Um, pretty much anything but fish would be very much appreciated. And," she pulled a box of saltine crackers out from between the couch and the wall, "I've got the salty stuff. It does seem to help." She blinked. "Wait. You went to see an OB/GYN? Does that...?" Kimie squinted at Amyla. "Is there any particular reason you stopped by, other than the pleasure of my company?"

Aiodhan nodded and, immediately sensing a female squealing session about to erupt, instantly made for the door. "Okay! See you both in a bit!! I've got a grill to play with!" he said, making himself scarce as quickly as he could.
Amyla mock-glared after him. "Humph..." She tossed her head and returned her attention to Kimie, grinning rather broadly now. "Err... I do work in a hospital and know several quite well," she said, trying to sound offhanded and failing miserably. "But... ummm... we got a letter from the Farland Clinic. We got ourselves an appointment." Her eyes were fairly dancing with glee.

Amyla grinned to the point where she felt her face would crack, giving Kimie a good-- though very gentle-- hug in return. "Thanks! I started crying when I read the letter. You can imagine poor Aiod's reaction," she said, her eyes dancing and her expression only definable as a smug smirk. "Men in general don't react well to feminine tears." She fairly shuddered with a sudden surge of glee and anticipation. "I can't wait. We've been waiting for ages and now suddenly... it's heeeeere!!" She gave a very high-pitched and rather indignified squeal and then settled down immediately, imitating Kimie's bouncing. "Sorry... excited..."
