Yeah, Kurt was a huge Beatles fan back when he was a kid. His aunt introduced him to them, and then in high school, his friends introduced him to punk&metal, like The Melvins and Slayer. But from what I understand, grunge is a mix of punk, metal and pop.

Makes me glad i live in Seattle . Contrare to what people may say, grunge "died"; as well as punk. Now it's just a fashion-statement .

I've always wanted to live in that area. I'll honeymoon there when the time comes...
but Seattle is too big. I'd rather live in Aberdeen.

[Abba Zabba, you're my only friend .] heart Too true. Grunge died with Kurt. Notice how all these bands nowadays are put under the category "post-grunge", yet they sound nothing like post-grunge. Besides. You can't have post-grunge if grunge itself doesn't exist.

I already knew what grunge was, THANK YOU. However, I listened to Metal before I listened to Nirvana. And how come no one has listed any of the GOOD metal bands in here? Like... Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Guns 'n Roses... That should cover it 3nodding

Mister Lewis this guild seems to mostly have just popular Alternative bands of the nineties, not just Grunge also i havent seen any threads about bands like Tad, Fastbacks, Melvins, or Mudhoney around sad We've spoken about the more underground bands, but not a lot of us know too much about them. Don't be mean stare We are just unenlightened whee I know that the Crew and I are going to incorporate some more underground bands into the Next Top Song; so more of the guild members get exposed to said music. Also, Zen is having his Daily Song/Video Spotlight. He knows a lot of underground grunge, so there will be plenty of exposure in that area. Its that radio is the main field of discovering new music [for me, at least] and I don't get into underground bands until I establish liking for the similiar ones on the mainstream.
