Koorie felt time itself stop when Samantha revealed her last name, and she slipped her hand from the girl. She looked the girl up and down, listening to every instinct she'd ever possessed. Despite the name, she felt no flags going up, unlike when she'd met Carl, where flags, bells and whistles had gone off....and stupidly she'd ignored them.
"Hakan.... no doubt related to Dr. Carl Hakan, I'm sure...." She smirked. "I suppose, however, I'm going to have to give the benefit of the doubt that you're not like him.... Just as long as you're not his daughter, that is."
It wasn't like her to normally blow off something like that, but this girl had clearly taken a great risk, and that was respectable; besides, she was trying to escape from here. The worst that could happen was that this girl was like the doctor, and that would be discovered in due time.

Even if Samantha barely knew this young woman yet, she was relieved to find she wasn't the type to do something shallow like judge someone based on their last name or bloodline. Though, she still couldn't hold back a visible cringe at the mention of that name or their supposed relation.
"Thanks," she answered honestly. "Although, I have a personal request. As I promise that much is not true, could you also never bring up my unfortunate connection with that damnable beast ever again?" While she smiled a bit, she was quite serious about the request. Hell, she hadn't even said his name again or even thought it, let alone their supposed family connection since that day in his office when she'd found out what he'd done to her.
Realizing that she'd started unconsciously cracking her knuckles, Samantha stopped abruptly, hesitating before she began to explain, looking sheepish. "Big picture or no, I suppose we all have our petty revenges to gain, eh?"

Koorie raised an eyebrow at the girls request, and she knew immediately that this girl hated that man. She nodded her head at the girl, since the offer sounded reasonable. "Agreed....."
She was watching Samantha crack her knuckles. "Keep doing that and you'll get arthritis....."
Some people might not care about that, but Koorie did. If she got arthritis, she's no longer be able to play her music, or kick people's asses.

Samantha chuckled softly, shaking her head. "If that's the case, it's probably too late for me already. It's an unconscious habit of mine. I don't usually notice I'm doing it until someone points it out." She didn't mention she only did it when pissed and wanting to hurt something or someone. That sounded rather childish...even if it was true. She had temper issues and she knew it, but that didn't mean she needed to advertise them.
"So..." she sought to change the subject, thinking back to the wonderful display of violence earlier with a smirk. "Those were some nice moves out there. Professionally or self-taught? Just curious."

Koorie smirked, she could talk about fighting. "Self-taught, actually." She still wouldn't say much about herself, however. While she didn't have warning flags waving franticly, she still knew better than to trust some one right off the bat. Sam was going to really have to show her that she was trustworthy.

Samantha rolled her eyes with a knowing smirk, if a bit exasperated. "Alright, fine. I get it; no talk about fighting styles or skills. Have it your way. I don't know much else to talk about anyway." She laughed a bit at herself here, stretching and grabbing her things from the ground. "I should probably go for a while anyway. I could use a shower and..." She paused, back twinging noticibly again. "...got some things to take care of. I'm sure I'll catch you around here again soon, Koorie. Not like we're going anywhere, right?" She finished with a dark chuckle, shaking her head.
Bottle and towel in hand, she turned an headed for the lab building, offering Koorie a clear view of her burned back. She wondered if she had any of that burn cream left...stuff really was a miracle drug. Had to be, the way her back was healing already...

Koorie definitely saw the burn, but she didn't say a word about it, letting Sam leave. It wasn't her business what had happened to the girl. She continued with her exercise until she felt her muscles scream in protest an hour or so later. She picked up her things and returned to her 'room' to take a cold shower.
