Grip of Death http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxuJ5LNBPUI#apgopPBDMo8 Pro-choicers, I opened a can of worms on this "pro-life" guy named "Champion of Liberty" on the comments of this "the view" clip. I'm "gottagrip" there, and as you can tell I've been making posts so long I have to reply to myself three times each. If you can ignore the one vegan/pro-animal comment I made there, why not make a comment with this guy and set him straight? Ugh, I've seen that guy around youtube before. What a disgusting waste of flesh.

Talon-chan While I currently agree with Whoopi, she has said some pretty stupid stuff in the past. She was the one who said that dog fighting was part of black culture and as such Vick shouldn't be getting such trouble for having fighting dogs.
Which made my opinion of her drop significantly.
But, yay for Whoopi being pro-choice. This restores my faith in her a little.
Still doesn't excuse what she said about Vick, though.

Thanks for warning me about how futile it is to "debate" on youtube. As if debating on the internet wasn't ENOUGH rolleyes
I'm almost afraid of stepping back in the youtube thread, not because I'm not confident that I can talk pro-choice, but because I hate stubborn pro-lifers and I hate internet migranes that come from such stubborn eejiots. @_@
.. oh.. well whatever. I'll look again.. >.<

man, I'm proud of some of your contributions to the thread! Setar... <3
The thing is, rational arguments may not win a guy like this over, but I think being flooded to hell with lots of other pro-choicers might wear him out eventually... and I think that helps a lot in at least shutting him up. This guy obviously shows a lot of zeal, unfortunately not a lot of brain to go along with that. There's something about too much zeal that I've observed which overrides levelheadedness and logic. wink
"Champion of Liberty"...
... what a douchbag name! XD haaaah!

The_Thread _Reaper PhaedraMcSpiffy Yes, it may be stupid, but she does have a point. Different cultures and people treat things like dogfighting and cockfighting differently. For a lot of people, making animals fight each other is a pastime. It doesn't make it any less cruel, but it does make it easier to understand why. I believe so too..but the thing that made me mad about what she said about dog fighting was that she referred to my hometown as a really southern place that supports dog fighting..Vick came from around my area in eastern virginia(as far as i know)..and damnit, virginia isn't southern or country. We're in the middle of the friggin east coast..this isn't some place as far south as georgia or alabama or something. We definitely don't have dog fighting rings all over the place..it isn't the big cultural thing here. The mayor got pretty damn miffed about that. gonk Yeah, I can see how that would get really irritating. I still stand by Whoopi, even though that comment was kind of stupid. She's the kind of person who can kindly and politely kick someone's a**. Quote: I can't believe that woman had the nerve to say "Superficial abortions" in front of a woman who had to give herself an abortion. Yeah... I read about that. As soon as I heard she was coming on The View I was glad there would be a smart pro-choice woman on there (and also: She's Whoopi!) but I was worried about the stuff Hasselbeck would say to her.

Loved your analogy of the hobo breaking in your house!
I made an earlier analogy of a person drinking contaminated water that still looked clear, and getting parasites as a result for the "odious" crime of drinking water.

Still doesn't excuse what she said about Vick, though. I didn't like how she said vick didn't know what he did was wrong....that was pretty bad... I think it's a pretty weak excuse. Two animals are ripping eachother to shreds, covered in blood and could possibly die and you somehow claim ignorance? Lame. I can understand the claim that it's part of their "Culture"... I don't nessisarily believe it's true... but I can understand that if you've been raised around it that it wouldn't seem abnormal or wrong. Especially when poverty and greed come into play. I've known people who participated in cockfights(I won't use names) they were all wonderful people, except in this one area. I couldn't grasp how anyone could justify brutalizing animals until I saw the depths of poverty that most of them lived in. I don't think it justifies it but it helped me understand why some people do it.

.. poverty and ignorance tend to go hand in hand, unfortunately sad
Anyway, that "Champion of Liberty" guy is a persistent turd! my email inbox was flooded with so many replies to comments that I had made, and I had decided to just not bother reading them. I was tired.
Not intellectually tired, mind you. His arguments were pitiful. Just exhausted. There's more to life than comments to stubborn assholes on youtube, especially when the youtube comment layout is horrible and tricky, not consistent. I've had many a hard time finding my own comments and other people's as it was. youtube, I've learned the hard way- is just not the place to debate. Leave a comment, then be on your way. surprised
Champion of Liberty is the biggest fool of them all, for striving to have that last word. His social/personal life must be non-existent as much as he has to prove himself "correct" on youtube.

His social/personal life must be non-existent as much as he has to prove himself "correct" on youtube. Yeah I know what you mean. I got pulled into an argument with some pro-life canadian dude on youtube and by the time I just cut it off I have three whole pages of PMs of personal attacks, sarcasm, and blatant attempts to twist my words to mean something that I didn't mean. He used the "culture of death" bullcrap a lot, which really ticked me off. I posted a lot of the junk he pinged at me on here, though unfotunately I deleted a lot of the most venemous comments from him in outrage before I thought to put them here.
