Tama smiled warmly. "Sure. Fabric of the Universe by Brian Greene. Also has a bit of relativity and string threory too." Her grin took on a slight hint of mischievousness. "How do you feel about mimes, Seth?"

Seth had to blink a couple times at Tama's question. It seemed so out of the blue, not that there was anything wrong with it. "Mimes? I guess they're okay. Some of their tricks are pretty cool. Why do you ask?"

Tama pouted (cutely, of course). "Aw~, then you wouldn't like to hear that . . ," She grinned. "That wasn't nearly as random as it seemed, by the way. Emy showed me this cartoon once . . ." she shrugged, sighing. "It was funny, but the artist's taste was questionable at times."

Seth tilted his head with interest. He wanted to know how mimes and what they were just conversing about were connected. He asked inquisitively, "What is it?"
(I had to add "He asked inquisitively" otherwise the tone could have been mistaken for annoyance. Just letting you know. ^^)

Tama grinned evilly, relishing the moment. She paused a moment, before asking, "If a tree falls in a forest, and no one's around, and it lands on a mime, does anyone care?" She giggled. Nothing against mimes, but it was such a prevalent stereotype that no one liked them . . .
{And I'm adding that because it's not as funny if you don't know . . . And I don't know that you do.}

Seth laughed, and jokingly said "That was mean!" Sure, he didn't mind mimes, but it was a funny joke. He had to admit that.

Tama laughed as well, relieved that he had too. "Sure it was," she said teasingly. "When did I tell you it wasn't?" She remembered another tree-related joke Emy had shared with her, but she wasn't going to share that particular one with Seth.

Seth got over the last of his laughter and said, "True, you never did say that it wasn't mean." Actually, come to think of it she almost stated it was mean. He half expected it to be vaguely mean anyhow: most good jokes are a little mean.

Tama giggled one last time and sighed happily. "Well, the best jokes are usually the ones that make fun of something," she declared, shrugging. "Mimes, the good ones anyway, can be pretty cool." She smiled mischievously and proceeded to put Seth in a pantomime box.

Seth looked around with amusement as Tama trapped him in an invisible box. Being in a silly mood, he smiled and pretended to be unable to get out, "Hey, I'm stuck!" After saying it, he wondered if he should have just mouthed it instead, giving the appearance that sound couldn't penetrate the "box".

Tama sat back, raising her paws to her face in an expression of mock horror. She settled into a thinking pose, concentrating. After a moment she walked over and settled down just in front of Seth, gazing mournfully at him. She raised a paw and put it against the "box". She wasn't sure how long she could pull this off; keeping in the snickering was proving to be greatly difficult.

Barely able to keep in his laughter, he pretended to try to dig a hole in the ground to escape. Discovering that he was making no progress he sat in front of Tama and raised a paw to hers, keeping it from touching by a few millimeters to simulate the existence of the barrier.
(For some reason I'm reminded of Tarzan and Jane... xd )

Tama stared sorrowfully at Seth for a few moments more, before a strange expression crossed her face. She took her paw down and considered for a few minutes, shifting her gaze from Seth, to the "box", to the ground in front of her. She smiled slowly before raising her paw to the "box" again, miming a door. That accomplished, she grasped the knob and turned it, swinging the "door" open. She smiled sunnily, motioning for Seth to walk out of the box.

Seth put his paw down when Tama did and with interest as she "created" a door and opened it. He smiled and left the box through the door, and wondered if she would pretend to close it. "That was fun," he commented happily.

Tama nodded, and carefully closed the "door", making sure to "lock" it, i.e., twirl the air directly over the "knob". She laughed, skipped over to Seth and hugged him.
{Well, actually, she mimed laughing . . . XD}
