Finding and Saving
Ceron sighed as he tossed the stick for the puppy he just spent far to much money on. The adorable creature of white fur and black barked happily at the tall and uncomfortable looking man. His cheap clothes hung illfitenly on his skinny too tall looking body. He was all angles, sharp pointed chin, long crooked nose, thin hallow cheeks, and that was just his face. His body, all elbows and knees, gave an awkward picture when he moved and a mornful one when he sat still. Ceron had long since grown use to people asking him what was wrong when nothing was. He had a mornful look to him no matter his mood. One of his short lived girlfriends said that his smile could be bright as any sun, but he lived under a cloud for most of his life.
Ceron didn't know about that, and she had soon moved on to a handsomer guy who wasn't raising his young siblings. Ceron always told himself that he'd have time for himself once his siblings were off and gone. Now they were off and gone and Ceron found out that he didn't know what to do with all this new time. He didn't remember living without caring for someone. Lydia suggested a puppy, give him someone to care for and get him chicks but it wasn't the same. He couldn't laugh with this puppy, couldn't change his clothes, help him with homework, couldn't-Hey where was the dog anyway? He had just been chasing his tail.
The tall man stood, looking around confused. He looked around the dog part he visited, wondering where the hell it had gotten too. The puppy, he named it, him, Madden, Ceron reminded himself, had just been around, where had he gone?
"Stupid mutt." Ceron muttered, letting himself forget the extra hundreds he spent to get a purebreed. He didn't buy himself much so when he did he went all out. Besides it had been nice, saving up, too bad he didn't want a puppy, he wanted a child. His buddies said he needed a woman but he couldn't seem to keep them around for long and it just didn't seem worth it anymore. "Madden? Come here boy, Madden!" he called out, giving a sharp whistle though he hadn't trained the dog yet.
He got several sharp barks in return. With a sigh Ceron moved forward, shoving his large ringles hands deep into his cheap pockets and strode froward. He blew some of his long brown hair from his blue eyes, annoyed with this whole day. He should have just saved up from something he knew he would never want to really buy so he'd always have the anticepation but never worry about the disapointment of not reaching it.
When did I get so depressing? Ceron thought as he pushed some bushes to the side, careful to avoid any dog piles, and saw where Madden barked, looking up at Ceron and gave a deep whine. Ceron's eyes went wide as he saw what Madden whined over.
A child rested on the ground, feathers surrounded the seeminly genderless body. Ceron moved closer to the long haired child, reaching down to see where they were hurt but he saw no injuries, just the ragged rising and falling of a chest about to stop moving. Madden whined again, running in circles and then putting a paw on Ceron, whimpering again, as if he knew the child's plight.
"Agh, dog! Just..." Ceron trailed off as Madden looked up at him and whimpered, his ears ducking down before he glanced to the child, then moved closer to lick his hand onces, his big black eyes looking up at him to try to plead...something. "Ah, I'm sorry Madden...I just need to save this kid. Come on, we need to get this child to..." Ceron trailed off when the kid seemed to wake up, or at least get a new burst of energy. It rose slowly, moving to a resently unnoticed stone. It reached out one pale hand, trying desperately to reach the stone when Madden moaned rushing up to the stone and barking, as if to urge him on.
The child looked up, seeing the dog barking furiously on the stone. Ceron reached down, grabing the child and quickly moved him to the stone, placing him down Ceron let go to grab Madden, not wanting the puppy to bother the kid but Madden and the child moved to look at each other. Madden perked up a bit and barked once, moving forward to lick the child's nose.
As soon as the tounge and nose met Ceron threw up his arms as a bright flash emerged, throwing Ceron back even as struggled to reach dog and child, but when his arms came around on top of the stone he didn't find a dog and a child, but just a child. A child now looking quite healthy with familiar little eyes that smiled once up at Ceron, just once, then held up his arms (for Ceron could see clearly now that it was a little boy).
"Now just who are you?" Ceron asked, confused as he looked around for Madden, "And where's my dog?" The boy smiled again and his black eyes twinkled up at Ceron who blinked once and understood, then smiled himself. An action the brought a bright light to his face, and made his pale blue eye shine.
He had a child.
