"Oh no, I like eating potatoes." Dorian nodded sagely. "And fish eggs and tentacles. ... Okay, maybe not fish eggs." He made a face. "But the other stuff's really good." He grinned, and then blinked thoughtfully. "But you're right, Punkins would be more like baby heads."
Christian grinned a little, and rolled his eyes at Dorian's description, leading them towards the aisle where the food Nikita had mentioned would be found. "I really hope he outgrows the description of food over the names thing." He muttered, amused.
Dorian looked around, and itched under his eye, sniffing about again. His nose wrinkled and he leaned back, covering the lower half of his face. Christian looked down.
"Dori?"
The little boy looked up, eyes big behind his glasses.
"... What's wrong?"
"I smell something." He mumbled through his arm, arching an eyebrow at the adult.
"..... What do you smell?"
"Something that burns my nose." Christian blinked, and looked around for the source. It was in their cart; the cayenne pepper he'd grabbed had opened.
Christian snorted, and picked up the spice, moving it away from Dorian. Dorian sniffed experimentally, and made a face, smacking the spilled cayenne out of the cart and away from him. Christian laughed.

"You n-never know - you might start to call them that t-too."
After all, spend too much time around someone, and you started talking like that. Maybe that would work with childlike versions of words, too.
Nikita watched Christians reaction to the pepper with a grin; some things were irritating even to a normal nose. To a sensative nose, they'd be horrible. It was funny in this case, but it could be very frustrating in Spring, if the Sylph turned out to have allergies.
Just remembering Sariael's first Spring was enough to make him wince - the poor girl had been miserable around all that pollen.
"You'll want to w-watch out for spring - p-pollen can make it d-difficult on Sylphs with enhanced smell, if they t-turn out to have allergies."
With luck, Dorian wouldn't have allergies.
