She watched him wondering if he truly was matching her skill unlike others that failed miserably. This one she'd keep an eye on indefinitely. As he traveled over to the apple tree she kept her gaze on him, a little bob that made her tail swishing back and forth in a rhythm only she could know. She eyed him with curiosity but yet seemed not so observant, a little trait she had developed in keeping watch over someone.

As he brought the apple over she smiled in those deep shadows around her, then nodded her head, "Sure. I could use something to tide me over." Leaning out where the sun dappled her face he could finally see the shiny orbs that rested always under the brim of her fixed hat. The "fu" paper blowing with each playful breeze still attached, reaching outward as if to touch something then settle once again. Munching quite happily on the apple she looked out at him again fascinated he was foiling her antics.

"So Qin... now that I've run you ragged, lets do something that you prefer shall we?" she nodded swallowing the last bit of apple core which was her favorite.

Qin kept his face carefully smooth, though he enjoyed watching Hsien in the sun. He pondered over her question, a gleam in his eye. Finally he said, "Very well then. I happen to enjoy mind puzzles." He thought for a moment, then said, "Here is a fairly easy one. A regular man and a doctor both loved the same woman. The doctor and the regular man were always competing for the woman's affection. After a while, the regular man had to go away for seven days, so he gave the woman seven apples. Why?" Qin smiled and watched Hsien, wondering if she enjoyed mind puzzles.

((Had someone come to check the comp out))

She listened to the mind riddle and grinned. "Even a foal could figure that one Qin," she snorted with a gleam in her eyes. Tossing her head she spoke once more, "As in human terms... An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Basically stating, if she has the apples and doesn't succumb to sickness, well the doctor won't be a threat when the other returns" She smiled wryly at him those was highly amused he'd play fun mind games. Of course she herself wouldn't of thought about it.

Snorting she stepped out into the sunlight a bit more, her tail swishing back and forth. She had to admit he wasn't boring like some of the others she met.

Qin smiled, Hsien was pretty good. "Yes, even a foal could have. But not as quickly as you did." He swished his tail around in the brisk morning air, and continued,

"How about this one: There were two men in a town in England who each owned a stable. There wasn't enough room in the town for two stables, so they decided that one of them had to leave. To determine who was going to leave they decided to have a race. They didn't want the horses to be tired though, because someone would have to leave town, so they decided which ever horse lost, then that owner would get to stay," Qin paused for breath before continueing,

"The race started out very slow and everyone was tired and bored. Soon the men and their horses came to an old man, who said, 'come off your horses and come here.' The men did as they were told and the old man whispered something into their ears. The two men ran back to the horses, got on the horses, and raced toward the finish line. What did the old man say that made them race to the finish instead of going slow?" Qin smiled, this was a fairly tricky riddle. Hsien would definetly be an excellant brain puzzle solver if she could solve it.

((Old comp crashed... took awhile to get this one up and get settled... I apoligize))

Hsien pondered greatly on this one for it was quite the mind teaser to stump her into a furious contemplation. She of course never let on that her mind was flailing for a correct answer in her struggle to win these matches of intelligence. She wasn't a dumb mare, not by far in other's eyes. But in this case she truly was concerned that she'd fail and look quite meek in Qin's eyes.

"Because the barns were on fire," the first thing that came to her mind but she knew it was most likely incorrect.

Peering out at him from beneath her (fu) she blushed with ignorance knowing he'd laugh at a silly assumption.

(no problem ^_^ Little Qin here enjoyed the extra time to look at Hsien -is wacked by Qin-)

Qin smiled at Hsien's answer, it was a good one, even though it was incorrect. He was impressed, so he said, "Good answer, not the correct one, but it could be mistaken for the right one." He thought for a moment then continued, "The old man whispered into the two men's ears, 'Get on each other's horses' That way, they would try to get to the finish line first, to try to make the other's horse win."

It was a rather confusing question and answer. His own fu fluttered a bit, and thwacked him on the nose. Qin snorted in suprise, and wondered how he looked to Hsien. He hoped she didn't think he was silly and stupid. He really liked Hsien. I wonder if she returns my affection though... he wondered to himself.

((lol))

Well there was a surprise, she never would have guessed such an answer. Alright he definitely was better at mind games then she was. Course it was better when another was more versatile in one thing then you were in another. Made life extremely interesting, not to mention far from dull.

She couldn't help but laugh aloud at the answer for yes it was quite amusing to her answer.

"I see," she nodded with a snarky look upon herself, "seems you've beaten me in something." She tossed her head wondering what he was thinking right now. She had always held that distant almost mysterious look so maybe she came across as stuffy most encounters. She couldn't help but also ponder how he felt about her. It was a simple meeting afterall but he did seen to take a liking to her. She wanted to watch him a bit more, evaluate what was unfolding by his words and body language. Maybe then she'd notice what he was thinking more clearly. Besides wearing her hat and (fu) as she always had was a great cover up to observe and be less noticeable.

Qin tilted his head a little to one side at Hsien's answer, then smiled and said, "Yes, but you did lead me on a very fine chase earlier." He smiled again, remembering the mini hide and seek game Hsien had led him on earlier. It had been quite fun. He at least knew that with Hsien around, there would always be something fun and interesting to do.

Qin grinned, and a small breeze picked up again. A swirl of leaves disloged themselves in his mane. He laughed, and said, "Sometimes I wonder if nature created me just to pick on." He began to pick the leaves out of his mane and tail. He chanced a glance at Hsien, his fu paper hiding his eyes. Hsien looked very mysterious in this faint morning light, he laughed at himself, thinking, Well, she's a mystery I want to try to solve.

She smiled to herself thinking how quick he was to catch onto things. Maybe there was something there after all she pondered. Flicking her short tail she stood there waiting for something, what though she did not know. This place was nice, but it was boring as well. What she desired this day was something to cure boredom and well loneliness was covered with Qin there.

"Hmm this place has become old.... chance a walk or a run?" she mused trotting out of the shadows to the light that beaconed to her outside. She knew he'd follow, he was like that from her observation.

Looking behind her she slowed her pace watching to see if he was following or not just in case. She was quite the tricky mare but he was growing on her in any case. What would he do now she wondered?

Qin grinned mischeviously as he caught up with Hsien. He said, "How about a run?" He trotted a bit to warm up, his muscles had grown stiff from standing for so long.

He agreed, it was rather boring just standing and talking. A run would be a fun way to warm up and relax. Qin let his guard down as he gazed around at the pretty landscape. He looked a the flowers that dotted the hills, Spring time, he mused to himself.

Before he could breathe one last word, or two if he desired, she had bolted off into the sunlight as her (fu) blew away from her eyes dangling in the wind. Clicking her claws along the ground she grinned feeling the chilled atmosphere reaching her. Like most things in this land already, she was looking forward to a little white that would blanket the ground.

Turning around in her stride she noted Qin not too far behind, at least she hoped she did. She wasn't proving herself in a race, just blowing off a bit of steam that standing still could do to a warrior. Being by yourself sometimes made things seen so boring and melancholy most days. Just for a bit of fun she created a little dance in her strides, an almost amusing thing for one as her to do. But then when was she really able to express when she was happy either she pondered. Now was good a time as any in her eyes.

Qin cantered up to Hsien, increasing and decreasing his speed as she did. For a moment he thought it was another chase, but then he realized she was just streaching out, enjoying the morning. He lengthened his stride, but not his pace. It felt good to hear his muscles complaining for once, and he liked the sound of his and Hsien's hooves, and Hsien also claws, pounding against the loose dirt.

He looked over at Hsien, and said, "Good time for a run, midmorning's usually best. Not to hot, not to cold." He panted a little as he talked, but that was just because he wasn't getting enough air. He breathed deeply, and his breathing returned to normal. The warm sun felt good in the cool air. Its almost winter, he mused, Thats good, snow's my favorite time of year.

Once she'd ran her tension out of her legs Hsien stopped in mid stride and just stood there watching Qin. Now things were sitting in her mind like dominoes waiting to fall into place once they were triggered to do as they were told. Shaking her head she watched him with a slight smile, yet you could still make one out. She contemplated to herself as she always had, then looked directly at him. Both her eyes visable as she studied him.

"Qin" she began in a soft yet dominant voice, " I need to know from your point of view how you see me. Interpretations, muses, contemplations. Do humor me and say what's on your mind." She wasn't being sarcastic about this, but then she felt it in her best interest to know what this particular stallion was thinking of her.

True, Hsien never stayed in one place. Always on the go, thirsting for battle was something she could never escape from. So, instead of loathe her lifelong activities she decided to take things in her own claws and live life to the fullest.

Qin thought for a moment over what Hsien had said. She was giving him to the chance to be totally honest about he felt about her. He took a deep breath, then said slowly, "I think you're clever, very quick, have a love for adventure. But most of all I think you're beautiful, mysterious, and," He paused, then quickly continued,

"And thats the most magical part of you, and, I...I think I'm in lo-" He broke off and exhaled, realizing he had been holding his breath. He hoped he hadn't been to open with her, he didn't want to startle her. His heart was in his throat, he, for the fist time, was truly scared. Scared of losing Hsien to his own foolishness.
