Theory: Katara will use blood bending on Azula. I have no evidence to support this, I just think it is possible. Azula deserves to have something like that used on her. Maybe she will be used to attack Ozai? It's a stretch, I know, but I thought that would be cool. But then again, I doubt that a blood bender can manipulate bending other elements, ya know?
Anyway, freaky episode (not scary, just freaky) and not a bad one at that. Flashbacks were good, water bending was good, finally a creepy Avatar episode! And Toph mentioning the people screaming beneath the mountain. . .creepier than blood bending! O_o But, that's just me. . .

Lady_Asherah Previously, before I had watched this episode, I always wondered why there was no mention of bloodbending... xD It was driving me insane. And then finally, out of nowhere - OMG LOOKIE AT THIS COOL STUFF <333
But it's not as interesting as I'd have made it, really... ;O LOL! Agreed! I would like do this creepy thing with the blood bending that you could bend it so hard it pushed out of your body. NOW THAT WOULD BE SCARY!!

I really enjoyed that episode. It had a very good plot and there's not too much comedy. I loved the flashback part. Hama was really pretty..until she got old and insane. I liked Hama's hair style in the flashback. It's pretty. Too bad she became insane. I know its due to the fact that she has the power of bloodbending, and being in prison for decades..however...it's a real tradegy that it has to happen that way of her becoming insane and kidnapping innocent people.
Poor Katara..I hope things will work out for her well in the end.
as for Toph! She ROCKS. I loved how she goes "do you hear that?" after the end of the horror story about katara and sokka's mom. perfect timing. and it wasn't even a horror joke either. Ah, i really wish I recorded that episode! and I absolutely loved how she used her arm bracelet into a key to open the jewerly box. i loved her little face she made when she got it unlocked. so cute! and when she led the gaang (except for Katara) to the cave, and sokka replied "i can't see a thing!" Toph says "that's why you have me, come on!" seriously, that is why they have her!
ah as for sokka, wow he really defended Yue when they mentioned her that she might be the angry spirt. I can't remember exactly what he said, but obviously he totally defended her. ha ha so cute. I wish he would let his hair down more often..he seriously looks better when he has his hair down.
What a great episode. I can't wait for next week's episode. woot.

I actually would have thought that Katara would control Zuko or something like that, I don't know why. But You're right, she should control Azula, and heck Katara nearly lost Aang back in Ba Sing Se because of her. And another thing, If there's going to be an eclipse, would Katara have the ability to have Her full power, even though it's daytime?

I'm back. I wasn't able to watch the episode until this morning on another site because, like Butterfly mentioned, youtube pretty much pulled EVERYTHING down. Also (sadly) because I didn't think I would get to watch this weeks Avatar, youtube still left 309 up and I didn't want to miss it so I watched that first. >_< Anyway..........
Great episode. Hehe, Buttefly, it wasn't that creepy. Now watching "The Ring" where the main character is watching the video then your own phone goes off, that's creepy (really happened to me). The concept of Bloodbending does sound familiar and I'm pretty sure someone mentioned it at least once here during season 2. I think there's also a card from the Avatar card game where someone is a Bloodbender.
I think why Katara was scared of knowing how to bloodbend is just the idea that, now that she knows it, she may be tempted to misuse it like Hama or possibly even end up like Hama. Let's face it, Bloodbending is very, very powerful. And to round it off with something cliche, "With great power comes great responsibility." ........... 10 bucks says a ton of mature fanfics are going to use bloodbending.
Taang/Tokka moments: Few and minor on both sides. Tokka: "That's why you have me" and grabs Sokka's arm. The blush thing is debatable when she unlocks the box. Taang: They sit together during dinner and like Butterfly mentioned Aang helping with the basket. Anti-Tokka: Toph insulting the moon spirit. I think that pretty much covers it.
"Hama" can mean Seashore or Beach in Japanese. It might need to be "Hamabe" but the kanji for "Hama" means Seashore.
While I do like the idea of Katara being able to use it in the final battle, I don't think it's going to work out that well. You would need a lot of things to happen for that to work. First you would need the full moon since that's the only way to use bloodbending then you would have to hope Sozin's comet doesn't mess with anything either. I don't know if the comet is going to strengthen Fire Bending and weaken Water Bending or not but I think it's a possibility.
I was surprised by how nice the Southern Water Tribe looked. I was comparing it to now and thought, "What HAPPENED?!" But it makes sense when you think the walls and everything were made by waterbenders. No bending means it's harder and longer for construction to take place.
Did anyone else realize the "Sword for a Hand" ghost story was the "Hook for a hand" ghost story? And sorry Sokka, you may be great at jokes but your ghost stories need work. xd I suppose it's a trade off for Sokka and Katara.
Oh, and ***SPOILER***SPOILER***SPOILER*** but still a little vague. In regards to this comment: "Oh...and speaking of Taang...the next epis kinda blows that out of the water...as well as Zutara.... (Kataang forever!) " Nice try, but not quite.

Creepiest episode! I loved it!
Yeah, I was about to mention the Tokka moment where Toph grabs Sokka's hand with the "That's why you have me," but Negi already did.
And yeah Sokka's hair. I don't get why some people don't like it. And yay silly Sokka creepy story scream! Katara's story was creepy, too.
Oh, and the Sokka and Yue thing. "THE MOON SPIRIT IS A" etc, etc. It was hilarious.
And the concept of bloodbending... it's creepy. If I were Katara, I'd have cried at the end too. Hama was scary. When the puppets came out of the closet, for a second I thought they were people. x] Imma dork.
ANYWAYS. Awesomeness! Should've been closer to Halloween time!

Holy crap, I go away for half a day and everyone freaks out. O_O
I know, I totally forgot about the 'compassion and lunar goodness' bit. I remembered last night when I was going to bed, and I'm like, "Ah, crap!" It was sweet. I may not like Yuokka much (as a singular ship; it's just boring), but I love Sokka being sweet. ^^
Really, you guys thought the 'that's why you have me' bit was Tokka-y? Srsly? Mmkay. *shrug* Whatever, it contributes to my side. I guess if you really wanted to get analytical with it, Toph's become less tetchy about her blindness when dealing with Sokka. (The Drill compared to this episode, see.)
Bloodbending's really split y'all, it makes me giggle. Half of the people are like, "SO FREAKIN' COOL." The other half are like, "OH NOEZ!" I'm one of the former. ^^;
AND YES IT WAS CREEPY. DD: Negi, I would not watch The Ring if you paid me. I am seriously terrible with scary stuff. At my Writer's Club that I mentioned, one guy brought in a scary story that I'd already heard and I knew how it was going to end, and I still got scared. -___-; I'm TERRIBLE, I'm telling you.
I need to watch the episode again. I missed it last night; my mom decided to drive for an hour to go to Future Shop, and we didn't even get anything. -____-;
Another note, almost totally unrelated to this episode; I just finished watching the entirety of Fumoffu. (I hadn't watched FMP yet... don't yell at me. -_-) Is it just me, or is Tessa like Yue, and Kaname like Suki (fan, lol)? Sousuke isn't like Sokka, I know... just an amusing thought.

Jecht920 Bloodbending isn't for people like Katara. Even though she's strong her heart isn't in battle. The only reason she's learned to fight is to help Aang, plus she's crying at the end of the episode. Imagine how horrible it would be to have that much power. I've been talking about how cool it would be, but think of how scared the people around you would become. You could control them, and they know it. And if you're cruel, you could rip the water from there body, and just kill them that way. Bloodbending should have been kept with Hama till she died. However, it will come in handy, but I don't see Katara using it willingly. She doesn't like it. So there's my two cents. thats exactly what i was going to say ><. But yeah, creepy episode. did this one seem to go fast for anyone? It flew by for me.

I HATE it. so scary movies, no scary stories. i'm not saying this episode is scary though, it was just really creepy and weird, how ruthless Hama was and the idea of controlling someone's actions. The series seems to be getting darker as it moves forward, much like the HP series.

Making it spout out of people's eyes and blow out of their ears like molten lava... xD That certainly would have been a little neater than just: "O.M.G... look, I can totally control your movements with my awesome WaterbendingMoon powers ~ D< Rawr."
Though I do suppose one should keep in mind that this is a show for people seven years of age and plus... x3 So - yeah.
Still upsetting though.

I guess if you really wanted to get analytical with it, Toph's become less tetchy about her blindness when dealing with Sokka. (The Drill compared to this episode, see.) Well, she did grab his hand while they were going into the tunnel, right after she said that. But that's just me. I'll pick out anything remotely Tokka, I noticed. And isn't that thing they used as a key her meteor bracelet, made out of the moon-rock that Sokka gave her? Because in The Runaway Katara had asked if she brought her meteor bracelet. That would mean she made it into a bracelet and uses it all the time. That gives it sort of Tokka-ness too, although I'm just picking at little tiny things. Wasn't she the only one who wasn't against the whole sneaking around the house thing, too? I'm not sure. That's really irrelevant, because she might just like sneaking, but it was Sokka's idea. OMFG I LUFF SOKKA. Okay, just had to say that.

@ Negi with vague SPOILERS whited out: I only watched this preview thing, but, yes it does blow Taang and Zutara out of the water. The Zutara I am sad about. The Taang? Not so much.

1: I know Katara feels blood-bending is wrong, but it's very powerful, and in the battle, it would be a very good tactic to use. I think she should teach it to Aang. Of course it's creepy, and of course it's wrong, but it's also useful.
2: Grrr.... Possibly Tokka moment....
3: My sister was looking for this on Veoh.com when she found a trailer for the next episode. BIG WHOPPING SPOILER. Nooooo... Zutara... Zuko, break up with Mai and save the ship!
4: Sokkaaaaaaa! <3
Why does everyone want to steal Sokka from me? emo
(I know, he's funny, sweet, and sexy, but stilll.... -pout-)

@ Mandy:
1: Uh... Yeah. It is creepy. But she'll probably end up using it again, like she had to in this episode.
2: Not possibly. Definitely. x]
3: Exactly what he should do!
