Fatia's ears swirled around to face the vulture before slinking back to rest against her skull. Oh no, this wouldn't be good if the vulture-lady really thought that! She tried to figure out something smart to say in her head, but there really wasn't much coming up. Not good.

"But...but we're not black and white," the cub protested. It was a long shot, moreso with Tanana then Fatia, as most of Fatia's body was so close to the sand's colour, so far away from just pure black and white. Tanana had much more of the 'demonic' black, all along her back, but perhaps her tan legs and cheeks would save her from the vulture's accusations. "We've got the sand's colour on us, see?" She pointed at her leg, as well as her sister's leg, to prove her point.

The vulture stared Fatia up and down, starting at her paws and moving her one-eyed gaze up. It was true this one didn't look so much like the demon did, but she had the smell of it on her. And the other had both!

Tanana was no mind reader. Regardless, she still realized in time what their current threat was opening her mouth to say. "She's my cousin, not my sister," the juvenile stated in an intentional obnoxious, know-it-all voice. "If you have problems with my mother you can bring it up with me, Ms...?"

"Oka," the elder female supplied harshly. She leered at the both of them, then suddenly squawked, "No! Liars! You both are her children, aren't you?! I'll get you both so she can understand what it's like!"

"Our mother doesn't even like us, it wouldn't show her anything!" yelled Tanana back, more positioned in front of her sibling than before.

"I don't believe you! Liar! Liar!" Oka's wings stretched out and she lifted high into the air. With wide eyes, the slave whipped around and pushed her sister in the opposite direction.

"RUN!"

Fatia realized that they were getting themselves into a little bit of trouble, now. Not that she knew that the vulture wasn't dangerous, but she never really feared anything else but the lions that were her masters. A vulture? Never crossed her mind. That was, until today.

It all happened in such a short amount of time. The yelling, the sudden gust of wind, when the bird had begun to gain altitude,a way from the cubs. Was she leaving or was she getting ready to att-

"Ack!" Fatia tumbled to the side, gathering sand all in her coat. She was startled for a moment until she realized that Tanana pushed her over, screaming at her to run. Run? But she couldn't leave Tanana here to die! No!

"Tanana, no! You have to too!"

Each and every strand of fur was standing up on Tanana's entire body. The speed of her heart beat compared with that of when Uzulu was around. She hadn't thought this over anymore than Fatia. It was quickly getting worse.

Tanana was barely managing to keep her calm, let alone sound it. "I will," she offered quickly, but quietly. Quiet was as close to calm as she could get. The vulture wasn't anymore fierce than a Firekin, but... Firekin she knew how to handle by now. This was different. "I'll be right behind you. Go on. Go!"

Fatia felt like she didn't like what Tanana was saying, though. By herself? She couldn't! The tan splotched cub froze, still deciding if she should try to fight off the bird with her sister or to run. Oooohhhh, decisions, decisions!

"I-I....I don't know, Tanana!" This is where Fatia's major downfall was. When she couldn't make a decision about something, she tended to just freeze up and take her time deciding. Something that thankfully her young master didn't seem to mind, but the bird would probably like. Then Fatia would be here as well as Tanana.

No matter what, including times of life or death crisis, Tanana could never get mad at Fatia. It just looked like she was when she grinded her teeth together. "FATIA, JUST GO!"

Her sister didn't 'go', or move at all, and Tanana could hear the wind whipping behind them. It was the sound of the vulture launching at them. She was attacking them and Fatia wouldn't move.

Tanana thought frantically and ended up doing the only thing she could think of. Hurriedly, she tackled her sister and crushed her into the Earth, shielding her best she could.

They were both so dead. The screech behind them assured her of that.

...Wait.

Very hesitantly, Tanana creeped one eye open. The other followed suit. She slowly turned just enough to look over her shoulder. That screech had sounded strange...

The runt juvenile's eyes went wide. Ohahira?!

Yes, it wasn't a mirage. That was really that horrid demon (she had to agree with the vulture) mauling the bird.

Everything didn't feel like it was happening fast. It was.

She felt the weight of her sister push her into the sandy earth, knowing that she had messed up, again. Freezing at the wrong moment, not doing anything. She was always putting Tanana in danger, moreso than herself.

"Tanana~!" she grunted, her breath knocked out of her once she heard the screech of the bird. She dared to not make much noise, as she felt like she didn't have the nerve to do anything but curl up and hide.

Fatia felt a bit of the weight shift off of her. "Tanana?" she asked, wondering if it was okay to peek over at her. She heard the sounds of something unpleaseant, but she just couldn't tell what they were.

"Ta-" her voice was cut off by the shock of seeing Ohahira there....fighting with the vulture. What...was going on?

She was wide eyed, her jaw almost hanging out as well, before she turned to look at Tanana in the eye, as if wondering if she had any idea.

Tanana waited. Could Ohahira defeat that vulture as a sure thing? 20 seconds (that felt like 20 minutes later) it was obvious she would, and only then did Tanana dare to glance away from them to her sister. It happened that her sibling was mutually looking at her.

Awkwardly, one slave smiled to another and Tanana moved to the side, a clear 'okay' Fatia could safely get up now. "It's alright. It'll be dead soon." The vulture, that was.

"We should still leave. When Ohahira is done with it she may lash out at us."

Fatia heartily agreed that they should leave. Sure, Ohahira was their 'mother', but she never really considered her as one. If anyone was more a mother figure, it was Tanana.

"Okay," she said quietly, a bit weakly, and flexed her paws to get ready to run through the sand. She wasn't totally sure where the two of them were going to go, but as long as it was far away from the dead bird and crazed lioness, she would be very glad to get away.
