I looked Riku up; supposedly means "shore" but is written with the character for "land". Sora definitely means Sky. Kairi means "ocean village" in japanese. This is all according to www.babynames.com
"Kairi is the romanji for Kylee, which translates into 'boomerang' in Japanese. Kairi also translates into 'estrangement,' 'nautical mile,' 'dissociation,' and 'beaver.' Additionally, Kairi is Indian for 'mango,' and Kairi, as derived from Carrie, means "melody" or "song." (http://khearts.27names.org/kairi/facts.html)
Kairi is also sprung from "Kai", which means sea.
I dunno why you mentioned it, but yay for name symbolism! ^_^

You never wondered what Xigbar meant by the previous bladers? Never wondered about Xeha's memory? Or where Maleficent went after KH2? Or what the letter said? Or why Roxas 'supposedly' has a heart when the others don't (I've read a BIG theory on this, and the more I read about Ven officially, the more I believe that part of the theory is true o_o)? Or why Castle Oblivion just randomly had the ability to show you memories? Or why Xemnas could only supposedly remember hate and rage? Or why Xehanort CONVENIENTLY spells No-Heart and Another without the x?
These are just some of the questions supposedly answered! 8O
Besides, you can't seriously tell me you don't want to play as Axel. I mean, COME ON.
At least, that's who most of the people freaked about playing. I prefer Zexion, but that's just me >__>

I really don't like the whole Terra and aqua names.
I mean SOra Kairi and Riku where all fairly generic anime names, and the symbolism was a nice touch, but Tera and Aqua is just a little bit blunt.

yeah! I totally agree with you there, but you know with these japs they just LOVE to go indepth. in the end their names dont really matter unless its centeral to the plot, Sora could've been Mr popsacopolis for all i care and still be awsome and threwout FF games they've allowed us to rewrite the main characters names (up until X ¬¬)
Not to mention Aqua and terra is so bland and the names have been recycles and used across the world over.

True, but what were they gonna use? German? Italian? English? Latin was simply the best choice- Terra is to Riku as Aqua is to Kairi as Ventus is to Sora. dramallama

I just dont like the idea with cloning the characters then adding symbolic names on top of it, its so...bleeh, they could've thought of something better. Once is enough for me. Roxas, i thought he was going to be a poorly developed but he turned out awsome.

I understand your hesitancy to purchase sequels--especially after the humongoid flop DoC turned out to be--but the thing about the names? Come on, Fuu, that's a little ridiculous. I mean, yeah, they are over-used, but if you not liking the names is one of your stated excuses for not even trying the games... That seems really flimsy to me. I also don't understand your dedication to keeping your OC as-is. Mizu means everything to me, but if I had decided not to play CoM or KH2 because what I had in fanfiction would have been utterly ruined, then she wouldn't have developed into the awesome arse-whooping ex-thief she is today. (Pardon me, but I'm so proud of that girl n_n) With each change I've had to make in her for the games AND Second Gen, she's developed into an even more awesome character than she was originally. In point of fact, she started out as a Mary Sue, complete with a "sister sword to the Keyblade called the Soul Blade" (over done to death, and I am ashamed of it >< ) and Riku falling desperately in love with her at first sight and so on and so forth. I really do feel you're doing your character a disservice by keeping her and her story stagnant by not playing the games and making her grow accordingly. At least play a demo or something? I have to support Kichi in this: don't knock it 'till you've tried it. I really do think you'll be missing out.

Wow....I can't believe y'all hate DoC so much crying I mean, yeah, the gameplay isn't exactly BREATHTAKING, but... I got it mainly for the story. And I'm glad I did. I may be one of few people, but...I think it was great. Vincent Valentine has been my favorite character for years now. The only characters I've ever loved as much as him, are Terra Branford, Locke Cole, Celes Chere, Kain Highwind, and Zidane Tribal. And for villians, Kefka and Kuja, and in some instances, Sephiroth. But yeah....
As for the sequels/prequels/whathaveyou of KH, I plan on buying them. I'm not super-excited about them, granted; said excitement is reserved for Kingdom Hearts 3....IF IT EVER COMES OUT!!!! crying
Anyway...Yeah. I think they'll be awesome. But mostly I'm looking forward to them because of the yet unknown parts of the story. The "holes", as it were. If you think about it, there are a LOT of things left unexplained. And me being the curious little monkey that I am...well, I just HAVE TO KNOW!!! Ahem....Yeah. Stick a fork in me....
