WindDancingDragon I always felt a connection to Artemis, because I love the moonlight, hunting with a bow, and being a wild young maiden forever. Also, the one guy I liked, was totally stolen (not killed smile ) by my best friend, kinda like Artemis, except her guy was killed by her brother. The gods' lives are full of so much drama! You've gotta wonder how they keep up with it all.
Apollo was jealous, but some stories day that Artemis killed Orien herself with her own arrow, in a bet with her sibling. Apollo telling her she couldn't hit a speck on the ocean. The pseck being Orien.
I love Artemis. She's the embodiment of what I wish I was like.

Well, I have four favorites:
Hera: I mean, Zeus plays around with women, and she gets blamed for being jealous! It's time to give this goddess credit.
Athena: She's awesome! I like this goddess because she's most like me.
Artemis: I like her for her independence. Also, I'm a fan of the bow and arrow.
Calliope: She's the muse of muses and epic poetry. What's not to love?

Artemis is my favorite hands down i've always loved her when I was a freshman I was so hacked off with my english teacher cause when we studied mythology we didn't even talk about Apollo or Artemis we talked about Icarus whom I don't mind but we barley mentioned the goddesses we talked about Helios and Phayeton i've seen some cases where they credit him to being Apollo's son but from what I could tell that myth was there before Apollo came to be associated with the sun at least I think so. I used to not like the Bow when I was younger we would always have one day of Archery during my campfire daycamp I think it's because the bows we used weren't easy for a little girl to pull back and I was also at a disadvantage because I had all my growth spurts when I was little and had usually just finished growing again when that came about a few years later I had stopped growing at all heighth wise and was easily ale to shoot it I fell in love with it that day and about 2 years later I asked my mom for a bow for christmas I didn't see why the my rother should be able to have a weapon and not me. I asked for another 2 years and 2 years ago I got it as my last Christmas present when my brother asked why I could have a bow and he couldn't and my mom said "Because she's been asking for one for 2 years and why do you even need a bow?" LOL i'm the only one in my family who has a bow my grandpa also bought me a staff this year because that was the other waepon I wanted. When I learned Artemis and Apollo both used the bow that made me love it even more as well as respecting it I haven't shot in a while but the weather in my town has been acting up and I had to wait for my arm to heal before I could shoot again I broke it in a car crash 2 weeks before christmas. Artemis has always been and I believe she always will be my favorite goddess. After her in the Godess department would be Persephone and I also like to believe she went with Hades willingly Demeter probably just didn't want to let her go being her only child and all.

I forgot to say Persephone. I also think she loved him and went willingly. She probably wanted her mother Demeter to just GET OFF HER BACK sometimes, you know what I mean? Mothers mean well, but sometimes they're just way too overprotective.

Yeah my mom once said " Your brothers een ready to spread his wings and fly for quite a while. Yoour still testing your wings out and i'm not ready to let you go just yet." I think that's what she said I know there was more words to her quote but I can't remember them. I love my mother dearly but I do like to get away from her sometimes. smile

It's hard for me to choose between Athena and Artemis. I like archery and I think the moon is beautiful, but I'm very smart and really like Athena for her wisdom. But, all the goddesses have their pros and cons.

My favorite is Athena, mostly because of how helpful she is in so many of the myths. Seriously...where would Odysseus, Herakles, and Jason (among others) be without her help? Plus, you just have to love what she did to Arachne. biggrin
Artemis is a close second though...

I've posted this in so many places and now it's finally here...
Artemis is my favorite goddess in all of mythology; being the goddess of hunting, the moon and chasity (and one of the three virgin goddesses-Hestia and Athena being the other two) is a HUGE responsibility.
She's also the protector of women and children which makes me feel...secure, I guess. 4laugh
(I'm a monotheist but i STUDY greek mythology...so I'm not disobeying the commandments! mrgreen )
GO ARTEMIS!! GIRL POWER!! mrgreen
And Hestia is pretty cool too because she gave up her place to Dionysus the god of wine in order to tend to the sacred fires of mount Olympus. That's why grecian household flames are never suppossed to be extinguished-Hestia is the goddess of the home and the hearth. biggrin
